Unfortunate Spacemen

Unfortunate Spacemen

This game has everything a among us player wants plus sooooooo much more.

First of all this game is free and I mean free not loot boxs or pay to win mechanics, there are somewhat overpriced cosmetics but they are purely cosmetic and ad no gameplay advantage.

There is a story mode which is not bad, a survival mode that’s pretty meh, and shapeshifter the reason everyone plays without going into a long wall of text One of you is a monster and everyone’s name is hidden as a color. Instead of scaresolution for example you see blue the monster looks human until he transforms and the twist he can change color.

Unfortunate spacemen is where you play as one of many unfortunate spacemen/women stuck on a station with a shapeshifting monster that’s out to screw you over one way or another. (there are other gamemodes, however the game and this review will revolve mostly around the shapeshifter gamemode)

Pros:

  • Very large amount of replayability, it has a justifiable amount of maps and weapons that show up in random spots, as do the objectives.

  • Fantastic OST, the recently added menu music is something I can’t help but jam out to (I miss the old music though :( )

Desolate Roads

Desolate Roads

I really wish Steam had a mixed button for reviews. This game has a really nice environment (although specific locations are really poorly done…) The monster mechanic is alright. Scares and story are really bad though. Puzzles are also quite lackluster.

Overall I can’t really recommend this one unless it goes free to play someday. Sorry Dev.

Very neat small experience in the same vein of other short horror games like Paratopic, Anatomy or Marginalia.

What makes Desolate Roads interesting and sets it apart from those titles is that it is less a walking simulator and more a super condensed version of a traditional survival horror game. You have a space to explore with different locations, light backtracking, inventory management, puzzles and also a persistent enemy force that you have to deal with.

It is a very short and focused experience but very effective and a worthy entry to that category of cool short horror games.

i have completed almost all the three way to escape i just need to unlock the radio and escape from the helicopter rescue, it have some good tense moments and the freaking monster can follow you everywhere! i’ve tried to study his movements but he randomly patrol so quite hard but i think i found some patterns that at least can help escape, the graphic is pretty good it reminds me of silent hill good memories, about gameplay is very similar to outlast but more basic. As i understand is a very small team of devs so i understand if there are some small bugs but in the overall the game is really ok and i see their updating frequently

The game is terribly buggy. Sometimes, it’ll randomly quit. Most manual saves are done at your own risk.

Escape from Zombie Tactics

THERE IS NO WAY TO KILL THE ZOMBIE!!!! That said, the best way to ESCAPE from it is by luring it to the warehouse up the stairs. Once it’s up there with you, jump down and run like the wind out the gates and to the right. It’ll stop being able to chase you for a time until it finds you again.

Truck Escape

need: gas can, pickup keys, bolt cutters, and wire hook. Go to the house truck. Place gas can in truck’s side. Use wire hook on back of truck. Use pickup keys on truck. Teleport to boulders. Use bolt cutters on fence. The End.

The Alien Cube

The Alien Cube

SUPERB horror game by solo developer. This has to be the best looking game, with the most effort applied, that I’ve seen in a solo dev game. The game itself is interesting, taking you on a long, twisting journey that’s engaging the whole way through. There’s also secrets to find(always great to see). Of course, one guy can’t be great at everything; with that said, the game lacks in NPC interactivity, and the NPC animations could be more professional/realistic. I also experienced a crash every time I closed the game, on Windows 7, so there is certainly some polishing that could be done. The game also completely lacks keybind customization(same for “The Land of Pain”), which is one of the 10 Deadly Sins of Game Design. Otherwise, this was an amazing game to play, and I hope we see more content/titles from this guy in the future! Not as good or scary as titles like Penumbra, SOMA, or Lost In Vivo, but very close..!

H.P. Lovecraft inspired “Walking Simulator”. There’s not much else to do than walk around, take in the sights (and madness) and solve some minor puzzles by finding items and using them in the right place.

That being said, it’s one of the good ones. The graphics look pretty, story is interesting, horror atmosphere done really well, not too many jump scares, and I’ve definitely enjoyed my time playing through this.

! I’m not a big fan of the ending. It’s not bad by any means, its just a little bit cliffhangerish, leaving many things unexplained. A sequel would be in order.

Pros and cons are down below) Don’t forget to drop a like if it was useful! Check out one chapter of the game here (I took the developers request and didn’t include the ending in the video to avoid any major spoilers, and likes and subs are highly appreciated and encourages, of course :3):

Advantages:

1. The game looks incredible (I mean, obviously as it is a part-game, part-movie thingy). Still, there are so many nice scripted scenes of enemy jumping from behind the corners and noticing you. Even looking in the spy glass, one can note lots of different animations for the same action of enemy walking by the door. The attention to details is very appealing.

Hello Neighbor Alpha 2

Hello Neighbor Alpha 2

Hello Neighbor Alpha 2 is great because you can go into the console and type lots of commands, such as the “summon” command, where you can summon any item that you want. Also, It’s the most realistic HN build (with final art), none of that roller coaster, mounted windmill, crazy contraptions thing, but a subtle house in the suburbs, which you can explore. This is a truly fun game build that let’s your imagination run wild with the summon feature and messing with the neighbor. No need to download a console mod for the game, because it comes with one! I like this build very much and I highly recommend you check it out and do what you feel like doing, Hello Neighbor doesn’t always have to be about getting into the neighbor’s basement.

The Corridor: On Behalf Of The Dead

The Corridor: On Behalf Of The Dead

I truly enjoyed playing this game. The atmosphere was what kept me going to explore and discover more of what was going on here. If you liked playing Observer and Soma this game is right along those lines but with it’s own twist. It’s got a nice flavor of creepiness without resorting to jump scares to make you feel uneasy. . The ending is with a ‘to be continued’ tag and I do hope that there will be more game play to follow. Achievements are available which if you try to complete them will aid you in solving more of the mystery.

The Corridor: On Behalf Of The Dead is a story based Sci-Fi / Horror game that focuses mostly on setting a strong unsettling atmosphere while adding sci-fi elements around it.

You spend most of the game walking around exploring memories and piecing together the story. The cohesion system really works well and adds a nice survival mechanic.

Audio is relay nice too and adds a disturbing layer to the experience.

AccidentHouse

If there ever was a game to excite the heart and give you constant twists and turns this is it. I have studied this game for over 20 minutes and have mastered the horrors of Accident House. I really can’t state the euphoric high that comes with mastering this game I look forward to speedrunning it at AGDQ in the future. I achieved 100% achievements and let me you tell you this gem is worth every penny.

As to be expected with an early access game, its a bit broken. Hallways and rooms are too small to dodge monsters. Turning off your flashlight to hide is only useful up to the second key, after that you they can and will find you. Health doesn’t regenerate so you have to rely on checkpoints because unless you are lucky, you will eventually get hit one too many times. One positive thing I can say is the first jump scare did in fact genuinely scare me, which is very hard to do. The dark atmosphere and gliding/slow motions had me distracted JUST enough. It has potential, but needs some tender love and care to be something more. At its current state, its just more frustrating than scary.
