OVERVIEW:

The game is a survival singleplayer game, where you feel thirsty and hungry, and has a few vendors scattered around, where you can buy or find items all over the map. The map is large and allows for extensive exploration. It has 10 missions where you must fulfill various types of objectives, from assassinating targets, cleaning areas, recovering items, etc. As I really like this type of game I decided to give it a try.

POSITIVES:

The environment of the map is just incredible, it´s very difficult to find such a well-developed indie game, the sounds, the scenery, the items, the collectibles… Everything is perfectly done, which left me stuck for a few hours exploring and contemplating all this.

A short but thoroughly enjoyable indie storytelling experience!

I wasn’t sure I’d get through it in one sitting, but I found the ambiance very compelling and surprisingly tasteful in all its lighting and sound effects, so I couldn’t stop until the end. Overall, the writing does a great job at introducing what ended up being a rather intriguing story, so it was easy to follow along even without any voice acting.

Very promising. Looking forward for future titles from these devs!

The ambience of this game is through the roof!

Sound quality is good, it really sells you the mystery and the thriller inducing chills imo.

Now i will be describing some of the good and some of the problems and i don’t want to spoil things so play the game 1st then read the next part.

! Some pros:

! * I already told this but the ambience this game delivers is really good from the sound quality and overall gloomy and dark atmosphere really gives this game a boost.* I love detective/mystery games and if there’s a slight thriller/horror vibe to it i love it even more (e.g of games i love detective wise (sam and max, monkey island, the sinking city, wolf among us, the long reach, the last door series, disco elisium etc)).

Affordable Cat, kinda sounds like something you’d type in the search engine for pet lovers. But anyhow, this dev came up with Martha (MRT) his first published game about a deranged granny hell bent on knocking your teeth out at intermittent intervals! Its price point (a buck cheaper on itch.io btw) and length reminded me of Chilla’s Art titles and stocked with a plethora of horror references to seal the deal! Finally, a person of culture!!

I like the game, a few nice scares, overall spooky atmosphere, a few puzzles mixed in and with some combat here and there aswell. All in all a sweet little horror game, that all Indie horror game fans should enjoy, especially for this price.

I would however wish that i had a constant light source. I know.. Darkness is scary, But I also enjoy looking at my environment.

But that aside. Thanks for this little fun gem. Recommended.

Harthorn

Harthorn

Yes! Another solid example of what I love about indie horror! So Harthorn is a solid game about a security guard that’s sent to investigate a break in at the high school. What was a run of the mill break in turned out to be a disturbance in the force. This game has you solving some super simple puzzles as well as some mild stealth sections. Neither are too aggressive to be frustrating and not simple enough to be pointless. Overall, this game is a solid spoop with a decent enough story.

Pros:

  • Graphically, the lighting looks great! Textures are pretty solid minus some trees, but I think I might be the only person who gets nit picky about it. I like my textures okay? The darkness is balanced well to the point where your vision is kind of obscured by the darkness, but not like some horror games where you can only see as far as your nose.

Wow! This game is a lot of fun.

The AI is glitchy(I’ll talk about that in a second) and it’s a little short as it can be completed in just over an hour, but overall a very enjoyable experience.

I loved the idea of being a security guard in a creepy old high school during holiday break. The atmosphere was very unsettling but welcoming at the same time. The story was fleshed out well enough, I kinda feel like there could have been some more meat to it though. Maybe more diaries/articles? Or maybe more urban legends shared by the nice lady in your ear? While eerie, I felt like it could be more unsettling.

Code 3: Police Response

Code 3: Police Response

Code 3 is a tactical police based first person shooter developed for the PC made by police and police support personnel. The game places the player in the shoes of a patrol officer in your average American city. The player will be able to take on the role of that officer and respond to various calls for service and act appropriately. Calls will be dispatched to the player who will resolve the issue at hand. Although some calls will be less dynamic than others, the game is developed for entertainment, and many calls will involve stressful and/or dangerous situations. It will be up to the player to decide the best course of action in each situation.

Since the game is being developed and created by police and police support personnel, there is a theme of realism regarding radio traffic, types of calls, and available resources. Dispatches are given by real life dispatchers, and levels/scenarios are created with the guidance and knowledge of working police officers including both current patrol and SWAT level officers. Although some elements are included for entertainment and enjoyment purposes, the focus of the game is on providing realistic situations for the player to face based on police experiences.

We look forward to working with our community through Steam Early Access to allow Code 3 to have an entertaining blend of realism and fun. Come check us out at the 109 Below forums and in Steam discussions to be a part of the Code 3 team today!

Contraband Police: Prologue

Contraband Police: Prologue

Overview

Although Contraband Police: Prologue can be sufficiently reviewed by saying “in the likeness of Soviet Russia, vehicles inspect you,” ol' Il Pallino has always prided himself in objective reviews that are the basis for the comment “TL;DR.” Set in the early-1980’s, the prologue starts with the player on their first day on the job where people driving vehicles in worse condition than what the player will find in an American redneck’s yard and make note of the damage (which is typical) and look over papers with an Autobahn Police Simulator 2 mechanic of matching up information, and ultimately deciding to accept or reject a traveler attempting to enter the nation. (The player can simply use their eyes to make note of anything not in order with a traveler’s credentials.) Subsequent days consists of learning other game mechanics like inspecting vehicles suspected of containing contraband, along with the day off, in which the player empties the contents of the contraband storehouse, chucks would-be smugglers in the gulag, and buys new equipment. There’s also even a day where people are forbidden from bringing a certain type of cargo into the country.

I actually enjoyed this game. A lot! One of my favorite parts was the area where the tree was on the edge of the road. I was minding my own business making money and stuff and I hear this glass shattering and metal clanking. I run and look. I see a few vehicles lined up in a semi-circle at the end of the road so I watch them get out of their quagmire. Eventually all are on the road and here comes a vehicle so I step aside but the tree never moves. This is when I realize what was making the destructive sounds of vehicles hitting things. LMAO Every Single Vehicle passing by hit that tree. Every one of them. This I hope stays in the game. It adds character.
