Anachronism>
Detailed review:
This is based on my own opinions.
I will try not talk about the events and details of the story in my review. I think the less you know about it before you start, the more enjoyable it’ll be!
Context:
1. Value for money
2. Gameplay
3. Story
4. Graphics and Art
5. Nice-to-haves
6. Negatives
7. Recommendation to players (+18)
8. Summary
1. Value for money
For the price I payed, I have definitely got my money worth from this game. I have 40+ hours and enjoyed most of the game. I personally think anything below $2 that provides 40+ hours of fun is worth it, for sure!

The game was nostalgic for me. The sounds of the computer, keyboard, floppy disk are sensational and the fact that the game doesn’t have music gives you a very good immersion. The story holds your attention and you want to know all the endings. I loved this game, waiting for the second one already! :D

Markus Ritter - The Lost Family
Totally recommended.
And it only has one flaw.
That being about locating a grave. which happens to be, by far, the hardest thing that the game requires you to do… Twice. You cant even auto-navigate back to it once you have the candles.
While I was able to find my way around it eventually, I think it took a lot more effort than it should. Some people would have given up. I think even a pictorial guide would be justified. Anything that could raise awareness for this project, since the announcement is only made in-game for those who finish it. This is a game that deserves to be seen. Showcase a longplay of it, if that is what it will take to raise public interest. They were able to pull off a great result with a micro-budget. Imagine what they could offer with a full game.

Decent introduction of this FMV Point & Click, set in Vienna.
This game is the free first chapter of a bigger game. On the 24th of August the two persons developer launched a kickstarter, with this as demo/proof-of-work. I will spoil a big part of chapter one’s story, because this is an introduction. If the genre is something you like my advice would be to just play it. It takes maximum of two hours.
A strange lady…
Markus (or Marcus) has violent nightmares about a historic woman, while in Vienna there are daily reports of ladies being murdered.

Red Embrace: Mezzanine
Red Embrace: Mezzanine is a short (~1 hour or even less) free visual novel with point-&click elements, 2 endings rewarded with 2 achs. Unfortunately, for now the game has limited features, so those achs won’t appear on steam profile((
I’m sure even if someone didn’t play Red Embrace or Red Embrace: Hollywood the game will be interesting enough. I have almost nothing to complain about: visuals are great, music is perfect to set that gloomy mood, the writing is so potent dragging you deep into that dark atmosphere. That’s really amazing how that short story, maybe not even the whole story but some kind of prologue for the future game, can awake such powerful emotions. Really impressive!

As usual, fine. As usual, there is a light sadness after passing the game. And not only because the story itself is sad, because it concerns loneliness, loss and hopelessness, but because it shows us what we dream about at some point. We all probably dreamed that on some day someone (and preferably some handsome guy) would offer us to change our lives. But this did not happen.
It’s very nice that the story echoes Red Embrace: Hollywood. I am very glad that I somehow found Argent Games.

Creepslore
Welcome to the world of CREEPSLORE, where text shown in all caps means someone is SHOUTING!
Take part in a surreal, interactive arthouse adventure inspired by older Adventure Games mixed with Choose Your Own Adventure books and RPGs. Supported by it’s massive list of (112+!) characters, heartfelt story, and uniquely weird art style, Creepslore is here to make you laugh, cry, and question it’s creators' sanity and overall well being.
The game takes place sometime during the 1970’s, and is told from the point of view of a sarcastic character who gets suckered into an adventure after arriving on a monster filled island. Realizing there’s no way back, he now has to deal with a bunch of intoxicated creatures with idiosyncratic tendencies (ergo: they’re also stupid) who think humans are the de-facto best gourmet food option.
What this game offers:
-
surreal & tongue in cheek humor
-
a story with 5 completely different scenarios (no forced repeats of dialogues to unlock ‘extra’ content!)
-
18 explorable locations, ranging from cities to swamps
-
more than 110 individual characters
-
pre-rendered backgrounds created in Quake
-
even MORE NUMBERS to grab your attention
-
text, text and some more text
-
a sad fish
What this game DOESN’T offer:
-
saving the world
-
cute anime girls
-
fan-service
-
a happy fish
PS: if you’ve ever wondered why the Giant Spider in Skyrim carries coins, and where the hell it puts them, we’ll, let’s just say we have the answer to that.
Fire Tonight
The gameplay is not out of ordinary but it introduces simple new mechanics in every chapter. You try to find your way in a 3D maze and it’s kind of easy.
The story on the other side, is easy going and heart warming with the dialogues and the cutscenes.
It was a very nice short experience overall with all the music and the unusual narrative.

This game is short (about 60 minutes tops) so the price isn’t that bad for what you get. My biggest problem with it is the achievement for “Stroll down memory lane”. There is no checklist to tell you what you are missing from the level so you have to play it and hope you touched everything. Some are saying it is glitched and after 3 hours, I may be inclined to agree with them. I have checked several guides and nothing really tells me what the issue is and why I can’t unlock this achievement. I had a great time with it but definitely feeling a little burned by the experience. Don’t delete me
