Playing History: Vikings
Old school gameplay type with point and click action.
The game sells for cheap, but that doesn’t mean it’s one of those trashy games, sure this game has some rough edges and a bit of QOL could of made it more pretty and even smoother, but it’s totally playable and enjoyable, it has replay value which is great too. The game main function is to educate people about the Viking culture and you do this with Erik as he go about doing quests, meeting people, be they friends, enemies or merchants. You learn pretty much everything based on the viking culture from raiding enemies to living life as an actual viking. Some in game object s can be interacted with to offer up more information regarding specific topics.

TLDR: Too stressful to worry about anachronism, poor historical representation while trying to enjoy what should be a laidback game.
Due to this being marketed as somewhat educational and since the work has not been put it to make it worthwhile in that manner, it makes it a dubious product for children. Best to play something that is fiction and inspired by historical events or play a proper historical game. This kind of akward in between with minigames with a primitive engine and childish tone just accomplishes nothing by trying to touch too many bases.

Riders of Asgard
WOW! This game is awesome!
I started out with auto-transfers on, but after getting the hang of the controls, I turned it off and discovered my own paths. And boy, this is where the fun really begins! I quickly started unlocking new items and levels and I can’t wait to see what is next! I really recommend this game to anyone and I’m going to go play some more now! :D

I have waited what feels like forever! But, it is finally here!
In Riders Of Asgard you take the role of a historically accurate* BMX riding Viking!
The goal is to beat challenges, scores and times in a competetive side scrolling 2.5D environment.
Due to the level designs being, but NOT LIMITED TO 2 dimensional, the gameplay isnt overly complicated. What i mean by ‘not limited to’ is, you can perform ‘Transfers’ forwards and backwards, whilst still side scrolling through the level. This allows you to create your own path and play your own way.

Bierzerkers
I’ve been playing Bierzerkers off and on since early Alpha - I bought into early access all the way back in July. Adding features to what was almost a perfect vanilla game has been a struggle for the devs, and it looks like they may have had some internal setbacks and personnel changes. BUT it’s still a very very fun game (think TF2 with drunk vikings).
If/when they bring back the “Domination” (cap and hold) mode back, I can easily see myself playing this a lot. The current flagship mode, which is basically a slightly more entertaining version of American football, is especially hard to balance and features some ridiculously small maps.

Ok so you’ve looked at the game and think it looks fun, but you also notice the mixed reviews. You look down and see people saying it’s pay to win and that it’s not optimized well. These arguments do not hold weight. Here is the truth about the game, while it does have one major problem that’s being worked on as we speak, I would like to show you how this is a good game that is worth your time.
First we’ll start with what the game is. It is essentially a a mix of Medieval Team Fortress 2 and rugby, and yes that sounds weird. You have a team of five, with different classes, carry and throw sheep into the other teams goal. It sounds strange, but it’s a fucking blast. This is a game where good team work really counts. The game also ran really well for me, it did crash once but I was right back in in under a minute.

Age of Viking Conquest
Very good game. Positive features include simple mechanics, aggressive and intelligent ai, graphics and gameplay that have a real feel of the period. It’s also excellent value, with lots of replayability - 3 very different scenarios, 3 playable factions in each, provincial set-ups that can be randomised, multiple unpredictable events. That combination of positives is rare. I’ve tried scores of games but I can only think of one other that achieves the balance - for about 7 times the price! There was an initial problem about freezes in more complex scenarios, but the dveloper has now overcome that with the current version. I’m still learning tricks and tactics to make me more successful, but the fierce ai means that I haven’t yet got to vinland, done a Canute on the British Isles or achieved the Rus feat of raiding into the Black Sea and the Caspian - all possible on this map.

A very good game. It can be quite a challenge, especially when you dont know and cant see the enemies armies.
Got some good concepts in their, I like the spying / discovery aspect and feel that it makes you think about every move.
Only downside that I can see is the achievements dont seem to work. After I discovered Greenland and Vinland (then conquered) I didnt get the achievement for it, nor when I conquered the Atlantic. But hey, its just achievements and doesnt take away from the fun,
Well worth the £4.99

Kyn
Remember Dungeon Siege? That cool looking RPG by Gas Powered Games (currently known as Wargaming Seattle)? It was pretty slow game, but there was certain something in it that makes people remember it even today. Even more so because the third installment in Dungeon Siege series was completely different from previous two and was more like consoles-oriented action game than what everybody used to enjoy. Why am I telling you all that? Well, the thing is, Kyn is a lot like the very first Dungeon Siege. Actually, you can even tell that it’s a Dungeon Siege III everybody wanted. In a way.

Review updated after 80%+ completion.
TL;DR? Scroll down to pluses and negatives.
Visually Kyn resembles Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (though less polished), which I’m going to admit I find very pleasing. The music sounds at times like it could have come straight out of Torchlight 2, generally it has a fitting Celtic vibe. The atmosphere of the game is, therefore, highly satisfying.
Gameplay-wise, this puts me in mind of an MMO more than a typical hack&slash. You hit space to slow the game to a crawl, issue commands to your fighters, then hit space again to see the commands executed in real time. You don’t need to keep clicking to attack. You cannot pause for long, which gives the game a more intense feel than others with a Real-Time pausable combat system.

Trial by Viking
This is one of my favorite indie platformers. It starts off relatively easy and then becomes gruesomely difficult over the course of 130 hand-crafted levels. You run around collecting Sunstones which can be used to purchase better stuff - magic axes, a grappling hook, double jump, etc - which you’ll need to take down tougher challenges. Levels can be repeated to collect Sunstones or bonuses you may have missed, or just to get a better time (the game is speedrun-friendly). There’s a lot of level variety: bosses/minibosses every 5 levels, mobility challenges, puzzles, lots of new mechanics being introduced throughout the game, hidden areas, etc. Impressively, the whole thing was put together by pretty much one guy.

After 25+ hours of playing this on normal, I’d say this is a very good, almost great game. My attention span for games seems to be around 15-20 hours but this kept me interested the whole time, up through about level 103 out of 130. And I’d still be playing it if it weren’t for the dark holes.
They are not fun. At all. They are like gravity holes that suck you in and spin you around them. They are highly annoying and hard to escape without falling to your death. It was a ton of fun for the first 100 levels but I lost interest after fighting dark holes for 30 minutes.

Valhalla Hills
First of all, I always considered myself as Funatics fan. Their Cultures series always had a special place in my heart, while ZanZarah was a pure magic (still feel sad about the fact that the Xbox version never happened). In other words, I was pretty excited about Valhalla Hills. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Valhalla Hills is yet another one of those Early Access games where developers lost their interest in working on the game just because it was already selling fine enough. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

[Positives]
I like it. Why I don’t say love is because I am still only at the beginning but can definitely say it’s making a great start.
To start the Ai in this game is a lot better then most I see of similar genre. While in other games you must single out each individual unit to give them a task and actually get them working in this game the vikings just get up and do it. Want a new tent built? Great all the units that were standing by the fire get up grab some timber from the woodcutter and get on it. Another great thing about the Ai is that there are specific jobs and they immediately fill those jobs and get to work as soon as the building is up. Now does that make the game easier? No, it just means there is a lot less time consumption on simple tasks. You still have a capacity of vikings to feed, arm, and shelter.

Viking Squad
Do you enjoy classic “beat em' up” games such as Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and so on??? Are you a fan of cartoony styled art like those found in games such as Castle Crashers and Gang Beasts??? Well you’re in luck, because the devs at Slick Entertainment got you covered with their latest entry into the world of indie gaming with Viking Squad. A co-op brawler that is as much fun to play solo as it is to tackle with a band of your buddies. The plot is pretty simplistic within it’s self: Choose a viking (from four playable options) and see how much treasure you can plunder from the enemy’s clutches. Stylistically, the game is extremely colorful and vibrant. Lead Artist Jesse “The Drawbarian” Turner gives you amazing aesthetics similar to the “cutesy-chibi” art style of The Behemoth’s Dan Paladin, but with more of a comic book feel. As an artist myself, I have to rave about the art direction in this game: Jesse’s work is just too awesome for mere words to convey. This title is worth the price of admission on visuals alone…

This game is good. DAMN GOOD.
Just a refreshing take on the beat em up genre with new ideas, but solid arcade gameplay.
Every character has a different play style in this game and the combat depth is decently deep. You’ll need more than mashing buttons if you’re going to make it to the late game.
The gameplay goes as follows.
-
Go through a level bashing as many enemies as possible
-
Survive and bring back treasure/loot to upgrade your character stats, and buy gear
-
Use money to buy potions and keys for treasure chests (any unspent loot is disgarded)

Tiny Force Deluxe
Played a couple hours and noticed a bit of a bug, all the characters were unlocked from the start, already i have the achievments for unlocking all the characters but not the one for my first new character. This I am assuming is making it a lot easier than it is supposed to be and also takes the fun out of it as there is nothing to work through the levels for.
Fun gameplay, but really not very challenging..
would reccomend when the bug gets fixed or if it goes for real cheap.

The Banner Saga 3 is the 3rd and final part in the trilogy and is also the weakest game in the trilogy. I won’t be explaining too much about the mechanics as you should already be familiar from the previous two games.

Story - 4/10
The story tanked in this game, there were many plots that were left unexplained and even the ending wasn’t that satisfying. The endings can be acquired in the very last moments, thus making your prior decisions in the previous games all for naught.
