Robot Island

Robot Island

This is a really nice, warm game that lightened my night. I couldn’t explain why, but the general aesthetic, dialogue, and gameplay just put a smile on my face. I would have paid as much as $10 for these 30 minutes of my life. I really hope the developers make more games.

On a more personal note to the makers of Robot Island: Thank you. I needed this. I needed a bit of a wake up call, and a spike of happiness in my life. You help make the quarantine bearable.

There is one theme in movies, literature, games and all the other types of storytelling media which interests me most - how one person’s words and actions, even very small can influence other people’s life. Some of this influence is light, briefly noticeable, but sometimes it can shape other person’s future.

Robot Island, though a tiny project, is about small talking person into life’s decisions. I’ll be homest and say that I got the best ending for the first try and was somewhat scared to move the plot to worst ending (if there is any, I belive, there is). Graphics is charming and cozy, dialogues are well written, I wholeheartedly enjoyed Nim’s point of view on different things in human life - games, furniture, jewelery… Nim is written as a robot-companion should be - he has his own perception of things and he is also cheerful and exited. A lot of chances to melt your heart!

A grand and lonely robot discovery adventure game. Looks nice on a large TV. Some challenges are difficult, but you can solve them with some patience. Interesting mix of 3D open world and “platform-ish” game play. Lots of potential for developing the story in the future with more levels and content. Looking forward to that. It took me about 3 hours to get though the game. Thank you to the developer :)

The game won’t let me restart. It’s been a year since the developer said they fixed the issue. Nothing has changed.

I’ve beta tested this game and now that it is released I immediately bought it.

TLDR; this game is a ton of fun and I recommend getting it!

Really great gameplay and story; I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Especially the more you unlock the smarter and crazier combos you can do (and quickly switching between combos) to see how you can defeat specific enemies.

Music fits very well to the computers and robotics style, and gameplay is very smooth.

Don’t be afraid to die and try again, there are plenty of check-points and sometimes you first have to die a few times to figure out a strategy to take on the challenge or boss at that point.

Robozarro is not only a labor of love but is a ton of fun to play. It’s a mix of edge of your seat action and clever puzzle mechanics. The lovely art and animations remind me in many ways to the old school adventure games of Lucas Arts and Sierra era. I would say Robozarro plays like mega man on acid. The boss battles are all super unique and you’ll need to think on your toes to defeat them. This isn’t an easy game, however every death is rewarded once you figure out one of many unique solutions to winning a battle. I highly recommend this game and look forward to seeing more from the Developer!!!

ArchRobo - Robotic Annihilation

Definitely a well made and fun game for the price. Reminds me of some of the old school retro arcade battle games like Robotron with lots of enemies, multiple levels and weapons to collect and use.

Controls are very well coded and super responsive. The game for a small price offers some impressive featurea including the ability to pause or back out of a game at any time and come back later and continue where you left off AND it ofered both a co-op mode with a local friend or up to a 4 player local battle mode! Hell yeah!

As a beginner gamer it’s not always easy to find an interesting game that’s still fun to play and not frustrating. This game is very hard for me but, at the same time, the challenge I’m facing isn’t frustrating. The graphics in this game are very realistic and believable and the characters are just freaking cute. I can only recommend this game and promise you that you will not regret it. Well, perhaps you are losing your time doing other things you should be doing because you got hooked in this game. lol!!!

EPOCH

EPOCH

Epoch tries to present a somewhat compelling story, but the game mechanics made it obvious this is a mobile port with laggy controls that are unforgivable on a PC action game.

You control an armed robot that must reclaim the legacy of a lost city inhabited by other hostile robots. The problem is you only have a gun, and very few missile, grenade, and other weapons (you can get those later). You are up against enemies that shoot, launch a mortar grenade at you, or shoot “rocket” at you. For regular rounds, you can duck into cover, but you can’t hide from grenades. And the big shots can destroy your cover. You can move between cover, and you can even do an acrobatic leap from one end of cover to another. But if you don’t shoot those enemies, eventually you will make mistakes, and after enough mistakes you die.

i’m not sure how to rate this but i’ll give it a positive because it’s fun in the beginning but the things i liked became glaring issues in endless and maybe late game.

first off this is whats considered an on rail-3rd person shooter and yes its an obvious mobile port. you’ll fight in the foreground having 3 spots (some have 6, 3 top, 3 bottom) to take cover in until you kill all the bots then you will transition foreword until you complete the level. there are only 10 story levels the 10th being a boss (+4 endless levels) but there are also 4 difficulties for each story level. sadly you HAVE to beat it on the lesser difficulties to unlock the latter one so beating easy only unlocks medium and not hard or ultra.

Mechanism

Mechanism

I really want to like this game.

I can appreciate the amount of effort it took to create this,

particularly for one person.

Unfortunately, it is so bug-laden as to be unplayable.

I can’t play more than 20 minutes without some bug totally ruining the game.

Items disappear, the camera moves through the ceiling making it nearly impossible to

see, scene transitions cause a lock-up.

As well, the auto-save/restore is flaky, many times leaving objects in odd locations,

or worse, still ‘active’ (phlegm bombs).

In A Nutshell

It’s not easy to define what genre Mechanism belongs to, or exactly what it is. In this rather unique game, you will control a small robot, in a ruined world, infested with a mysterious substance known as “The Phlegm”. Armed only with your wits and the will to find the truth, you leave your home in search for answers…

The main thing to do in mechanism is exploring a bleak, and devastated world, now lying in ruins, where apparently you are the sole survivor. The atmosphere and art direction are absolutely impressive, and contribute a lot in giving out a sense of mystery, alienation, and loneliness. Soon, you will figure out certain items you find will have each their specific use, mostly in repairing broken machinery, allowing the exploration of different areas of the map. In each new area, you will find new items, dangers, and maybe answers to what happened.

June 4th, 2020: this is an update of my initial review from May, 26th, 2020.

After having played the game in 3 distinct sessions for a total of 14 hours-ish, I unfortunately feel like I can’t recommend this game ON STEAM.

The game itself (for 95% of it) is GREAT.

Unfortunately, the game is really broken on Steam and the developer doesn’t seem to be able to fix it to run a stable version that everybody can run and play….

Either the game doesn’t start altogether or it starts painfully but then crashes hours into it and is a hassle to restart.

This title features a clunky robot who is able to smash up stuff. The game quickly throws Blitz into action with detailed instructions that have to be followed. I like how the game is layed out with three components to each of the six objectives for a total 18 levels. While the objective are made clear its up to the player to work out the various puzzles.

The level design was adequate but uninspired and lacking originality. There isn’t enough character to get me hooked. I thought the grey space ship environment was lacklustre. Moving Blitz or stacking objects can be tiresome. This game was developed with a good underlying base but the enemies feel like they were tacked on after the levels were designed. While I haven’t found anything wrong with the game nothing is drawing me back. 6/10
