Canadian Football 2017

Canadian Football 2017

I’ve been working a new generated roster with ratings that match close to Pro performance. Speed ratings, for example, are too low across the board. I’ve done a lot of research on this and I am pleased with it. I did this for MaxFB and CFB17, and in my opinion, it makes the gameplay/gameflow much more balanced.

I also, created/redid the plays for MaXFb, and I am doing this now for CBF17, and like the results a lot. CFB17 seems to play faster and gameplay looks more balanced.

I have some more work to do to them, and will post the files somewhere, once I figure out the best place to do that.

Id reccomend while advising to keep expectations low. Its definitely got more polish than a decent amount of these third party football games and non madden types, but its def a little iffy. plenty of plays, different feeling players and overall fun for my first romp in a CFL game.

Id also say the assets for creation on here is a big plus, and its really cool that you get that sort of freedom here.

I really enjoyed the game. It is similar to Bowl Bound but much better graphically and the player ratings make a lot more sense. I cannot recommend it though because it crashes. I get a unpacking error where I cannot load my current league. I have not been able to finish one whole season before this error occurs.

If you are a huge college football fan like I am this is a must own game. This is only the 2nd year it has been released so the developers are still working on things but are very active in listening to the community. There are mods so that every team’s mascot is represented. I’m currently in an online dynasty and it is a lot of fun. You do not actually play the game like you would in NCAA Football that no longer exists. Rather it is more about strategy and every little thing matters. Each player has several personality traits as do the coaches. You have to set training schedules, playbooks, formations for certain down and distances. Also recruiting is extremely in depth. Each player has to be scouted to unlock their main interests that could be anything from distance, to how much you win, to how loyal your coaches, etc. It’s not easy and there aren’t a lot of guides out there to help you but the members of the community are very helpful. IMO it’s a must have for any college football fan.

Mutant Football League

Mutant Football League

Mutant Football League is the spiritual successor to the 1993 Genesis game of–just about the–same name. It’s a 7-on-7 American style football game featuring teams of monsters battling it out for gory gridion supremacy in an “after the bomb” world.

“Gory? Football is violent, but not THAT violent”, you say? Ah, but it turns out trolls, skeletons, and robots are more cavalier about possible concussions or, uh, dismemberment, than real-life footballers. Indeed, in the Mutant Football League scooping up a diva wide receiver and breaking him in half with a move normally seen in professional wrestling isn’t unsportsmanlike, it’s the norm!

MFL fills in the massive gaping hole in the football game market, especially on PC. If you want to play a football game in 2018, you are limited to emulation or purchasing a console, and even then you are limited to Madden titles. Not that Madden titles are inherently bad, but MFL allows for fun football action without the drudge of an NFL simulation. Rather, MFL has ramped up action and pace, little down time, and cartoon violence.

The gameplay is standard for any football game (so skip this is you have played one). You select offensive and defensive plays between downs, and during the play take control of a single player. On offensive plays this is typically the ball carrier, choosing targets as the QB and switching to the receiver or running back when ball changes hands. On defense you can cycle through to play any of the positions.

There are a lot of improvements that could be made (option to decline penalties, seeing the final play of the quarter, fixing the glitch where if you defer to the second half you get the ball instead of kicking off at the beginning of each half) but for what I’m looking for (stats and game management) it’s the best I’ve found.

My profile probably says I’ve only spent a handful of hours playing this game, however I’ve been playing this game for years. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent doing researching on a draft class or trying to find who my next big free agent pick up will be while I’m supposed to be working. This game has tons of potential as I’ve seen it gradually evolve over the years and even produce a college football spinoff (which I highly recommend).

Game Modes

Online - This is where I think the game really shines as the online capabilities are simple and easy master. I’ve been in a couple of leagues for years. Some of the leagues you’re involved all the way to the coaching level building playbooks and coming up with game plans etc.. and others you’re pretty much just the GM building your roster and doing your coach hires. Tons and tons of fun and there are some great league communities already established.

Very frustrating game. You either hit it too soft, or too hard. Every time. That’s if you ever manage to catch the ball in the first place, which is super frustrating as well. Awesome game if you feel like accidently breaking your controllers by banging them together though.

Best Australian football management game i’ve ever played. Play your style of football, plenty of strategy options. What positions do you put your players in to get the best out of them? How shouold you train them? What players to resign, who to trade, who to draft? This game makes you think, it is quite addictive. Plenty of room to grow and a very responsive developer.

I enjoyed it. theonlinegm.com

This recommendation comes with quite a few caveats. This game is basically a poor man’s Super Mario Strikers. It’s 5-on-5 (counting the goalies) soccer with environmental hazards and various special moves. It’s fun in a very goofy way. The English seems odd, there are bugs (including a few frustrating ones that stop the match and force the user to quit or retry), and the AI could use a little tweaking. The developer is aware of some of the issues, but they haven’t updated the game for months, so I don’t think we’re going to see any fixes. Overall, it’s fun, cheap, and goofy, so it might be worth your time and money.

This is almost a broken game…

It is barely playable and feels like a early access game. After an hour, it stops being fun and all the bugs seem to appear twice as annoying. There is something wrong with about every aspect of the game, which is a shame because the game would have be really fun, and is if it’s not buggy.

A few problems it has:

  • The controls are clunky. Movement is not very responsive and sometimes buttons don’t do anything or are significantly delayed. This is very fustrating and one thing that has lead to the game being bad.

Man, I absolutely play the hell out of this game. There are a myriad of reasons, not the least of which is multi player functionality. Testing my team building and game planning wits against 31 other actual human owners in a league has been one of my favorite things to do since the first game in the front office football series allowed it, back in 2004. For over 10 years now, I have been playing armchair GM in several leagues, and the reason is because this game is the best American Football management simulation on the market.

Real player with 14153.5 hrs in game

Update. Changing to recommending it. I decided to try calling my team’s plays each game instead of simulating through them, ie-not participating in the game at all and FOF7 finished in a few seconds for all teams that week. So trying calling the plays makes me enjoy the game a lot more. I become more familiar with my players, their strengths and weakness become more aparent. I also have to strategize which is interesting. Games can be frustrating and rewarding both. The below cons are still a problem, but less so when you’re not simulating a year fast. The spread sheets still could be more accessible, moving your mouse over abbreviations so you’d get little tips explaining what the abbreviations mean would be very useful, and locked players not changing when you click recommend positions for all players would be nice.

A faithful homage to the Mattel handheld of 1977. There are some gameplay tweaks here as well as some concepts borrowed from Mattel’s “Football 2” handheld but overall this is a lot of fun to play and if you enjoyed the original from the 70’s you’ll probably like this version too.

Cute game but the controller locks up on the computer opponents first series. Also there is no selection to pass/run like in the old coleco version. During the opponents first play, it just crashes and gives and error message. Hope the devs will fix it! I have received no response to my post about it on the discussion page.

edit: The devs contacted me today with a response to the problem. They say they will look at it. It’s good to know the devs care about such things!

This is the only team sport style game i have played but with that being said this game was more than i expected a soccer game to be. The first goal scored when i got this game was a made after bouncing off the top of a cross bar and then having some do a backflip-kick which sent the ball flying into the goal. This game had amazing visuals and a very friendly appearance. It also was very VERY intense. In both the Europe cup and the World Cup i had one 3-2 in the final games. Other than that the game is incredibly easy to learn and i enjoyed every single bit of it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and thanks for reading my review.

A retro style football game which is fun for short periods.

Pros:

👍

❤️ Nice retro style graphics and sound

❤️Achievements

❤️ Sticker book system is an interesting idea

Cons:

👎

⛔Online player base very low

⛔No feature for a custom tournament

⛔ Super shots are virtually impossible to save

⛔Play is quite basic

Overview

Legendary Eleven: Epic Football harks back to the days of Tecmo World Cup 90 but with improved graphics and sound. If you remember playing that game in the arcades, you’ll know what to expect.
