Blight is an extremely challenging and realistic single-player top-down perspective survival game.
The Blight
A mysterious new disease called the Blight has descended upon the land. You have managed to escape its devastating effects as it has consumed your village and left it to ruins - You now find yourself alone in the wilderness, tired and hungry. You’ve bought yourself some time, but for how long? The Blight grows larger every day, consuming everything in sight…
Realism
The game strives on providing a punishingly realistic and immersive experience with a ton of depth. Actions like chopping trees and cooking food take a lot of precious time. You can only carry a few things at a time. You need to boil water to make sure it’s safe to drink. Water and other liquids need to be carried in bowls and other containers, and will spill out if not transported securely. You will need to scavenge numerous raw materials, many of which will need to be processed, combined, treated or hardened to make tools, items and structures.
Challenge
The Blight is just one of many threats to your existence in the unforgiving wilderness. After quickly setting up camp you will constantly need to keep yourself well fed and hydrated, replenish lost energy with sleep and short rests, defend yourself from the wild beasts that still inhabit the woods, heal your wounds, protect yourself from the harsh elements, and figure out a way to somehow end this terrible disease. Almost everything in the procedurally generated world can and will kill you if you aren’t careful.
There are whispers of Druids in a far off land that may know more about the Blight…
Upcoming Features
The demo is currently live! You can download it to try out most of what the game has to offer and the level of realism/depth it’s going for. The next big update for the game in the current alpha testing phase is called The Story Update. It’s coming in the next few months and it will contain all these new things:

Miasmata
You awaken on a tropical island. Your name is Robert Hughes, your hands are bloody, and all you know is that you are an “exile.”
You soon realize that you are in bad shape. You can only run for a short distance before you start huffing and puffing, and you cannot swim at all. If you start moving too quickly downhill and fall, you’ll develop a fever, for which you’ll need to create medication. If you don’t drink enough water, you’ll develop a fever. If you don’t rest enough, you’ll develop a fever. You have The Plague, a disease for which you must find the Cure.

I’m absolutely loving this game. I’ve uncovered just over half the map and it’s been an amazing journey. This is the thinking mans - and womans - kind of game. Plan your trips, watch your terrain, think about what you are doing, if you go wandering blind you’re in for getting seriously lost.
The cartography system is marvelously innovative and once it dawned on me how this actually works I’ve been searching out landmarks to uncover even the smallest piece of the map.
Finding that one plant you’ve been looking for feels like a massive accomplishment - the map is large! And you did it by using your wits and your compass.

Silk is a compelling adventure strategy experience - not a genre name you see very often, and what a shame. The importance of picking a sensible route can be paramount, the threat of storms, raiders, wild animals and dead ends feel real and intense, and the feeling you get when you realise you have hit a dead end and have to turn back is a marvellous frustration.
It also means the satisfaction you get when you bring a caravan of silk back home is magnificent. The smalls joys of exploring a world in which every step matters, finding special locations, taking hidden treasure and fighting each small battle are immense. The feeling when your advisors reach a high enough skill level to start to really make the most of your surroundings is superb. A great adventure strategy title, definitely worth your time.
