//N.P.P.D. RUSH//- The milk of Ultraviolet
You know what makes NPPD Rush great? It doesn’t explain anything. What many will identify as negative aspects of the game, some will find to be perfect for the vibe the developers intended.
The game is confusing. The gameplay and core mechanics are not described, or taught to you through ‘learning levels’ like so many other titles. The teletype text and short ‘scenes’ don’t give the player much more than nebulous hints, but encourage an imaginative player to read a great deal of the story between the lines. The crazy colour scheme, soundtrack and HUD make the game difficult to follow, and it will take you a number of playthroughs to figure out even the core mechanics.

Indie game, N.P.P.D RUSH - The milk of Ultraviolet, tries it’s best to bring retro arcade style goodness to the Steam storefront with it’s top down shooter gameplay and maze like level exploration, but unfortunately it falls short in a number of areas. Even with the low cost of entry and the fact that it is currently on sale for 20% off as a new release, N.P.P.D does little to innovate in a genre that has been inspired by a plethora of other indie games as of late. The look and feel are straight out of the mid-to-late 80’s, but the gameplay unfortunately doesn’t live up to the expectations or the intuitive mechanics we’ve come to enjoy from other modern classics such as Retro City Rampage or Hotline Miami. If you’re feeling nostalgic then you’d be better off saving your money for one of those two titles rather than picking up N.P.P.D RUSH in it’s current form. The gameplay sounds interesting on paper, but is only interesting for brief periods of time and coffee break style playthrus. In fact it’s very hard to categorize or compare the gameplay when it feels like a combination of less complete versions of more popular games and arcade gameplay styles.

Kung Fu Jesus
I haven’t finished the game yet but this is my impression so far.
Gameplay:
The gameplay consists mostly of a “2.5D” world I guess where you move side to side and you can move a little bit up and down the environment as well with mostly simple fighting mechanics in my limited experience of fighting games. There are fun combos that you can learn from doing different things and there are abilities that you can discover as you progress, all the while gradually leveling up your total health and energy levels.

It’s painful to play this game long enough to be allowed to review it.
It’s obvious that someone put a lot of time into this game, and the whacked out story had me interested in progressing, but… the gameplay is so bad I can’t force myself to continue. Unfortunately, the game sat in my library for almost a month before I played it, so I was outside the time window for a refund. Please learn from my loss.

Assassin’s Creed® Origins
Simply put, AC Origins is a fantastic title that does an excellent job giving players an in-depth view into both Greco-Roman and Old to New Kingdom Egypt. The strength of the story line comes on the back of the great voice acting and story arc of the protagonist, Bayek of Siwa.
Exploring the ancient temples and pyramids across Egypt was an amazing adventure, and the new Discovery Tours feature is fantastic as you can now immerse yourself in a guide history tour of Ancient Egypt! No wonder university professors have been using it as a learning tool recently. With minimal bugs, great graphics, a solid story line with an amazing protagonist who rivals Ezio, AC Origins is a strong entry into the franchise.

I played this after AC Odyssey, expecting it to be a carbon copy in sepia tones and I gotta say it’s not. I despised AC Odyssey and while this game isn’t perfect either, it is a vast improvement (which is funny considering it was released first). The story is unique and tragic, and most importantly makes sense as an origin story for the creed.
Because there is no level scaling, you can finally feel like you’re making progress, while at the same time still requiring you to use a strategy. You can’t just hulk smash every enemy. Stealth matters here and there is no better feeling than taking out an entire stronghold without being detected. You are an assassin after all, which, yes, means you finally have a hidden blade again. Treasure it, keep it close, don’t let it drift away.

Deus Ex: Invisible War
Consolized Deus Ex in virtually every aspect
Back when Deus Ex came out, PC games had a reputation for being more complex than their Console bretheren. PC titles tended to be more complex, have a ton of hotkeys that just couldn’t be fit onto a controller, and were larger in just about every way owing to the same factors that make PC’s technologically superior to consoles to this day. More RAM, more HD space, better graphical capabilities, etc etc etc.
Well into the 2000’s this reality was still prevalent, and no game better encapsulates this contrast and mentality turned reality than Deus Ex: Invisible War-a title made with consoles in mind first and foremost.

Deus Ex Invisible War is the Sequel to the extremely good Deus Ex which was released in the year 2000, Invisible War was released in 2003 for the Xbox Original and PC, just like Deus Ex it is a Cyber Punk RPG, set 20 years after the Original Deus Ex the world is still recovering from “The Collapse” basically a 2nd great depression when JC Denton destroyed Area 51, apparently he also Merged with Helios and the Illuminati took over? its a bit confusing, you play as Alex D, a Male or Female student enrolled in the Tarsus Academy who escapes an attack on the School done by The Order, after escaping Tarsus you decide who to trust, who to side with and generally what to do, you only know that Tarsus was secretly watching you and The Order were actually “Trying” to save you and the other Students.
