Smithy Wars

Smithy Wars

Pretty good! The crafting is well thought and original. The enchanting cards really take me back to Legends of Mana

Fun little game if you like to watch auto-battles and try to figure out the best gear and setup to advance further.

The adventure mode is very bare-bone but the puzzles are interesting (although repetitive) and it is a good way to farm for gear and money, especially early in the game.

I got over 20 hours of fun until I felt I maxed out on gear and could not push further.

But the game just got an update with new, much more expensive gear that should allow me to push my champions a little further and squeeze more fun out of this game.

Capture the Flag 1

Capture the Flag 1

Have you ever played capture the flag in real life? If you have, then you’ve played our Capture the Flag game before! If not, read the rules below.

How To Play:

The goal of the game is for each team to grab the other team’s flag and run it back to their own flag to score a capture. If members of the other team enter your team’s zone, you can send them to “jail” by tagging them. Players can be freed from jail when a teammate touches one of the “jail release boxes,” placed inside enemy lines. First team to capture 5 flags, or have the most flags captured when the time runs out, are the match winners!

Split or Steal

Split or Steal

Seeing as the dev likes to ask for reviews so much, here it is.

Summary

A prisoners dilemma game, with features to help you earn more money, unlock better cosmetics and achieve higher ranks on the leaderboards and tailor your play style. The game itself, good concept and great ideas. Had a lot of potential but it was just poorly executed. The community made the game, not the game made the community.

Pros

  • Interesting take of a game on the prisoner’s dilemma

  • Great community

Split or steal. For as long as you play this game, you won’t be forgetting the dilemma and the effect it has on people any time soon. Except now, we aren’t “prisoners” confined to a one-time choice. So make use of that information to breed trust, rather than sowing mistrust. You have 2 minutes in high stakes to show that you’re not like everyone else. That you’re willing to sit down and talk if the other person is willing to. And then you talk. Have you ever felt the satisfaction of reassuring a new player that’s maybe a little bit paranoid, that some people really can be trusted? If you instantly split every round turning into a bot every hour for every play session, you will never know how it feels. If you only steal in high stakes, you will never know how it feels. To make someone’s day brighter. To make someone feel a positive emotion. The cash is virtual, the people are not. This is not an inherently competitive game, so don’t treat it like one where someone has to lose, or you need to try your hardest to win. Because if you do that then what makes this game great is diminished, until more and more people do it, and the appeal disappears.

Mercenary Skirmish

Mercenary Skirmish

For a game created by one person and being a early access release, the game is pretty good. Sure it takes sometime to understand how to play or what skills to pick, but doesn’t every new game? One of the best parts so far is the game does not restrict your own play style. So if you want to play a Hybrid build you can do that, I am excited to see what builds people will come up with. I myself so far enjoy experimenting with with the class building system.

Mercenary Skirmish Review

Thank you very much for releasing this for us to play for free on Steam!

This game was a bubble of confusion when I first decided to click the download button, it gives no clear indication of what to expect, what to do or even how to start playing. I was certainly having mixed feelings about whether I wanted to continue to see what this was about. Over the course of a few hours, I have to say for a small indie title, I was quite happy with it.

Mercenary Skirmish features two game-modes currently which can be played with your friends or if by chance you don’t have any, the timesplitters-esque NPC bots will be happy to join you in combat. TvT is a single map in which I have to say I still don’t quite know what I was supposed to do in which two teams of warriors, mages, archers and supports fight it out in a small battleground with two portals at either end. Chests are scattered amongst the ruins which contain various upgrades for your character and its essential you get to them first to be the winner.

I enjoy a lot of clicker games, and I did enjoy this one as well at first, but the game has a few achievements that are way too grindy to keep enjoying the game. After completing all the other achievements I have the following achievements left:

  • clicking 100k energized trees left (I only got around 10k while getting the other achievements with active play)

  • Start/complete 100 jobs, most of them take 1 to 2h in real life which means you have to log in every 1/2h to start a new job if you want to get through this one as fast as possible.

Really fun game, it is not as indepth as other clickers but I like the chill environment and themes

Cross play is cool as well, I was a fan of the mobile game so I liked being able to bring my progress over

Runs pretty well on my computer too :)

Mr.Mine

Mr.Mine

I think this game has potential, but progress is just too slow. I’ve joined the discord and gave feedback around issues with the game and was told you need to exploit the game in order to make progress. Maybe I’ll come back to it one day, but after letting it run for 2500+ hours and not seeing much progress, I think its time to shelve this game.

Issues:

  • at lower depths, 800KM+, progress slows to a halt. Both idle and active play styles have very slow progression.

  • idle play grinds to a halt when you can only make .5% of the cost of the next upgrade every 16 hours AND can only dig 1 KM of depth every 40 hours (there’s over 1000 KM to dig)

Real player with 2696.7 hrs in game

Mr.Mine is an Idle Game about mining and digging as deep as you can. On the surface it’s a nice game, but I have a big issue with the updates.

At first, they nerfed the cargo capacity, which I didn’t mind as it was still playable. Then, they released new relics which does not work and made us trash relics to try them out, only to realize they aren’t working properly. Then the final straw, they made the level 1 metal detector show chests location which I figured was a quality of life change, as the level 2 one is almost impossible to find in the scarce amount of golden chests the game offers you… but they instantly reverted the update 1 hour after.

The Faraway Land

The Faraway Land

For 0.2.12_HF01 version:

I have finished the tutorial island and had a wonderful time with this game. The developers are very active and given the fact that are only 2 people making it, very fast to fix major problems! The sprint, key remap and tool depletion mentioned on discussion session were solved and they are still working to improve! That aside, things you should consider:

  • Dialogue/guidance are still very rough

  • You will have to grind, not excessively, but you will

  • It is on early stage, it has around 5 hours of gameplay (on solo)

Real player with 32.0 hrs in game

I enjoy it! It obviously still has a long way to go before it can be considered a full game and the current price is a bit steep for the amount of content that’s available, but there’s definitely a future here. I like the art style, and the sandbox style of the game. The current beginner Island with quests does a good job of explaining the basics of the survival and crafting mechanics of the game, although some random exploration is required. It does need a bit of an English check… Also multiplayer would make it a lot more enjoyable, but the creators have stated that they are working on that. I am curious to see how the game develops.
