Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia

I saw the trailer for Phasmophobia about a day after it came out and I knew then that it looked awesome. I purchased the game for $10 that day and if the developer (as there was only one at the time) had said by January that he was going to move onto other projects I’d have felt that I more than got my money’s worth by that time.

He didn’t and the development team has grown from 1 to 3 that have been working hard delivering new and exciting things with each update. There are definitely still some bugs, it is an early access game after all, but it was better put together on day one than many early access games I’ve played months after release. Me and my friends thoroughly enjoy Phasmophobia and we usually play it at least a few hours a week.

I want to like this game so much, but I’ve played before and after the updates and it’s still equally frustrating for different reasons.

Before the updates, it was too easy. It was scary and fun, but you could find the ghost in under 5 min and have all the objectives done in under 10. I racked up $14,000 without breaking a sweat.

Since the updates, I’ve had to stop the primary game play, which is completing 4 total objectives, and instead have to do a bunch of speed runs for cash just to replenish items after I die, because you lose upwards of $1,000 for every death. When I voiced this frustration in the official discord, I was immediately told to make changes I’ve already tried and that I can just skip the objectives in favor of speed runs so I don’t die. Keep in mind that the primary objective is to find out what kind of ghost is haunting the house. One of the “cheats” to make money is finding the Ouija board, asking it the same questions over and over until you have +/-5 photos of it answering you, and then leave without figuring out what kind of ghost it is. Repeat that about 10-20 times (depending on how often you die in Nightmare mode, which is the only place to guarantee a Ouija spawn), and you can go back to actually playing the game for real. So I risk a lot to earn $200 to help replace over $1000 I just lost, and I’ll likely die a couple times during those replenish attempts. If that sounds fun to you, then this game is right up your alley and you should buy it now.

I can’t believe this game is only $4.99 still. I got this for me and two friends and we play it occasionally but for several hours every time. Might be the best $15 I ever spent.

Fun game provides with good electroshock therapy, sometimes annoying spiders steal your eggs, but it’s okay because you can hide in the closet and still die. Sadly I don’t really like killing goats

Ok, where to start :D

First of all, I’m a very very very scary person.

But shortly after release I found this game for a few Euro and asked my friends if they would play this game.

Well, I haven’t thought about to receive so many positive answers.

So in the end, I created my own death ._.

LOL, no not really, but I mean, I played it now for 24 hours in total, went through a lot of updates and sometimes I just wanted to delete the game, but in the end, it is one of the most played games this year.

Somewhere in the Shadow

Somewhere in the Shadow

I won’t lie, I came in thinking this game was gonna be a dumb little thing, but me and my boy had a lot of fun playing it! There were cheap jump scares, but one of the monsters was actually very suspenseful and got a real scream out of me! For only $3, I would say it’s definitely worth the money. The animations are a bit clunky, and the AI can be a bit wack, but after the biggest bug got fixed, it was a fun time and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, hour or two horror experience.

Decent fun for a low price. There are some tedious parts where you have to avoid monsters and ghosts, but also some fun parts like the puzzles or the co-op section where one player guides the other through the darkness. The horror aspect is mostly just jumpscares, not very scary overall. Played it with a friend for Halloween and it wasn’t too bad of a time.

Monstrum 2

Monstrum 2

Monstrum 2 is a 4v1 multiplayer only horror game where you either play as one of (currently) 3 monsters and hunt down prisoners or one of a bunch of prisoners that has to survive on a randomly generated sea fortress. The goal of the prisoners is to activate fuseboxes which need puzzles completed to be activated. Some need items, some a code, some need keycards or are blocked by something that you need to destroy or push/pull. After that they need to repair their escape vehicle, either submarine or helicopter, and then reach them before getting caught by the monster.

TL;DR at bottom.

I cannot in good faith recommend Monstrum 2 at this time. As much as I want to give this game a positive review, there are simply too many glaring issues to warrant recommending the game in it’s current state. If you read some of the other reviews and feedback people have given, you can get a good idea of what it’s like to play right now and admittedly, while I do occasionally have some fun with the game, I find myself quickly losing interest and becoming frustrated.

If you get past the fact that you are going to have to ask others in the JunkFish discord to even find enough players to play a game, you are quickly going to realise that the balance between the prisoners trying to escape and the monsters hunting you down, pretty much doesn’t exist. If the monster even has a slight idea of what they are doing, in most runs, unless the prisoners are equally as good, if not better, you are going to get absolutely destroyed. Combine this with the fact that there are still so many bugs (especially with the audio) that have existed since the launch of Early Access, you are going to have to do everything your power to convince yourself that this is a good experience.

Chased by Darkness

Chased By Darkness is entirely new type of horror game. Compare to Devour, Pacify, or Phasmo. Players are able to fight back using weapon and able to kill the monsters. The map has different facility to explore and scenes can be triggered. No doubt this game has potential and LORE to fulfill. Best to play the game with friends or play SOLO if you’re brave enough. RANDOM STEAM GAME

I look all over Steam for random / unknown Steam games to play. This was one of the chosen titles this week! If you’d rather watch than read, you can do so here:

[Thoughts and First Impressions]

Okay. The game is 4.99$. That goes a LONG way in this review.

First off, for 20$ you can get you and 3 friends HOURS of entertainment. Easily. There’s three modes, Normal medium and insane… basically. Did I think that my team was even capable of passing anything harder than normal? No. Did I have a ton of fun regardless? Yes.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this game! There are some bugs but that is to be expected because it is Early Release. The Devs and everyone working on this game are amazing and very responsive. There have been so many changes in just the last few days! Most bugs are fixed within 24 hours of being reported. Such a amazing combination of puzzles and scares! I am absolutely OBSESSED with this game and have not stopped playing since I got it!!!
