A grain of salt to be taken with my review: I bought this game on the spooky sale so I got it for significantly cheaper than it is normally (bought the complete edition for 5 dollars rather than 30).
The story is short and sweet (takes about an hour to finish the entire thing, 2 max if you really take your time and die a lot) not including the DLC, which is about another hour.
Mechanics are really clean and the game feels super well made overall.
Also, this game is wonderful for achievement hunters. They’re difficult enough to make you feel proud when you ace it, but easy enough to where you can get the hardest one in a handful of tries if you are willing to do it (beat the game in under an hour without dying).

CONCLUSE
CONCLUSE is designed to look, feel and play like the retro games of the PS1 era & labelled itself the ‘Rare, lost and found PS1 horror’. In some ways it works superbly but in other areas it makes playing it such a struggle while the gameplay is based around key-hunting & puzzles to open up further locations in the game. Is it worth a play? Well, it’s a freeware so there’s nothing to lose but read on to find out if this is for you…
The game starts with the voiceover of the male protagonist Michael recounting his long search for his missing wife Carolyn. The screen shows a black & white grainy effect of Carolyn driving towards a town called Hell never to be seen again.

Do not write off this game. There’s something here, there’s a solid concept, but the execution is a bit off-key. I understand that this game intends to harken back to late 90s PlayStation era horror, but when the commitment to authenticity goes too far, it leads to immense frustration. This is a key-hunting game, much like the first Silent Hill. Find object A, use on roadblock A to get to object B to use on roadblock B, rinse and repeat until disappointing ending.
As for the story, it’s quite intriguing, if also very derivative. Through the poor pacing and comically bad dudebro-sounding voicework by the main character (which I assume was intentional to replicate video game voice acting from the time), one can glimse into a darker realm, a parallel world to our own, much like Silent Hill’s Otherworld, or, dare I reference something more recent, Stranger Things' Upside-Down. You’re constantly messed with from the start, an inaccessable save file beloning to someone named Caleb, along with glitched objects, stare you in the face as you wander through the subway station and dockside area of Cordova, and things only get more tense and even panic inducing from there. As far as I can tell, there is only one point where you can die in this game (I assume, I was able to escape unscathed), however, I was on edge almost the entire time. Almost.

Kholat
Kholat is a first-person adventure game that’s 85% ‘walking simulator’ and 15% ‘survival horror game’ the likes of Slender: The Arrival or The Hat Man: Shadow Ward, where you need to avoid and run away from an unkillable creature.
To put it mildly, Kholat doesn’t get raving reviews but I’m a bit of a Sean Bean fan and my friend Athravan from The Reviewers' Guild had a spare key for the game, so I was glad to be able to give Kholat a chance after all.

I am a huge fan of Russian Science Fiction and Horror, usually in books and movies, but also in video games like Metro 2033 and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. So I felt it was my duty to play this game as well, and even if I’m not through yet, I can absolutely recommend it.
Let me state first: This is NOT an Action game! Your only weapon is
! naaaah, not your flashlight! Put it away ‘til you reach a dark cave. It’s your stamina, but it’s precious and very limited so don’t use all at once*! This game bears Exploration game in its description for a reason, it’s slow-paced, you’re supposed to keep one eye on the compass, and one eye plus both ears on your enviroment - which is fairly beautiful but devastating - otherwise you’re gonna overlook something important and/or die. If you’re looking for a fast-paced action horror game you can finish as quickly as possible, shooting/beating down all enemies in your way (I’ve seen reviews comparing Kholat to Silent Hill and stuff…), then please look on, you won’t have fun with this one. ;)

Network
NETWORK
When you surf the internet, you never know what you might stumble upon…
This game reveals a problem related to the Internet. Now the global network has turned into a dump, in which there is a lot of everything, and you never know what file you can stumble upon. So-called “deadly” files are no exception. Now, with almost complete freedom of action in the network, this has become especially important.
The plot of the game will take us to various locations, such as: the apartment of the main character, a construction site, friends ' apartments, a stairwell.. Where we will face various tasks: find certain items, solve plot twists, or just get out and survive..
We also spend a certain part of the game on the computer of the main character, communicating with our friends on the network, looking for answers to questions. The storyline depends on your decisions, what do you write to this or that person? What tactics do you prefer - to respond calmly or more directly and rudely? Find the information yourself in the game browser or go through a mini-game? The player’s choice affects both the course of events and the further plot.
Plot:
We play for an ordinary guy 17-18 years old. The main character has just moved with his family to a new apartment, which is still under renovation and not even all the furniture has been delivered, plus constant power outages. The hero comes home from school, immediately sits down at the computer, goes online, sees a new message, clicks on it and STARTS….. It all depends on you…..
Tired of the same type of horror?
The game includes a variety of gameplay, in different locations.. The game will not let you get bored, and will allow you to spend a couple of evenings in suspense, with a full immersion in the atmosphere of fear, “deadly” files, correspondence with friends, Internet legends and hopelessness…
Features of the game:
-
- Unique concept;
-
- Diverse gameplay;
-
- Interesting plot;
-
- Various locations;
-
- An atmosphere of fear and tension.
Our Way

G’day Guys Cass Here and today, I plan to dissect everything wrong with “Our Way” and clarify why you should avoid it like the plague.
The game quite literally is split into five different segments just as advertised, so why not rub salt in the wound and split the dissection the same way, starting with section 1.
“Repeating Rooms”- this entire section is basically just PT but extra lite and sugar-free. There’s almost nothing of note here besides a few nonsensically loud screamers and the games only flashlight, which surprisingly, they force you to pick up to proceed. After traversing two very minor key hunts which upon completion force you to listen to the abysmal voice acting and sound design. Unlocking doors with keys causes the player’s character to vocalize a garbled mess of words, and he will repeat this garbled mess for as many times as you can push the interact key. When you finally tire of listening to the angry mumblings, you’ll be greeted by the first real “obstacle,” the lack of light. The entire section is basically pitch black, with the only source of light being a few poorly placed candles and your recently acquired flashlight. Batteries in this game function like no others; a full battery lasts about 15 seconds. The first 10 seconds are a usable reasonably bright light, and the last 5 are entirely useless unfocused glare. Finally, after navigating through the pitch-black environment, you’ll notice that some random objects in the setting allow you to press “E” to interact; in most cases, this will do nothing except lock your mouse from moving horizontally or vertically. After restarting the game and using previous knowledge of the map to avoid wasting batteries, you’ll eventually come to a vent that asks you to interact with the crate below it to gain passage, or so you’d think. It turns out, unlike almost every single horror game in existence. You can go prone. Proning through the vent leads you to another disgustingly loud jumpscare and the 2nd area of the game.

Parasomnia Verum
Good game with high quality sounds. It gave me the chills a couple times! If there was one thing I learned from playing this game it’s always run! If you want to watch my playthrough, check out my video! https://youtu.be/t7ZDwMfyLJg

Another great title by Vidas Salavejus if you loved his previous games.
This one is only 30 minutes of gameplay with one amazing jumpscare and some creepy parts with nice cutscenes.
On the negative side, the dark grey textures are kind of lame.

The Door in the Basement
The door in the basement was a very good game in my opinion. It was scary and the story kept me wanting more. There are jump scares. I was submerged in a world of pure terror, the idea alone was incredibly uneasy. This game has the old school pixelated style look and I though that was a great touch. This game is short but because of my heart condition I had to take breaks and it took me a lot longer to finish. Overall this game was pretty fun to play and I highly recommend it. BEWARE OF THE CLITCH MAN!

Gonna be honest; game is fantastic.
So I’ve recently been binging on horror games. A LOT of horror games. I’ve come across some decent ones and some really bad ones. In my opinion; The Door In The Basement is one of the better ones. It’s not all about jumpscares. Instead it’s about setting up atmosphere, making you feel comfortable just to take it all away from you. There’s some light puzzle elements and a few enemies that’re fairly silly in their AI but I still found the game to be incredibly enjoyable. Especially with the PSX-style art-style the game has going on.

Alone in the Office
Alone in the Office is a really fun and scary game! You start out in the office signing some documents, or if you want you can just exit and walk around the office and do the other tasks. Eventually, the lights will turn off, and the hunt from the monster begins. You have to navigate in the dark to find the correct switch to turn the light on while the monster is lurking around. There is a glitch however, to where whichever light you turn on first, you can keep using that same switch whenever the light turns off. The monster is pretty scary but you can run away from him if you have the stamina. Without stamina, you’re pretty much done for. You can replenish stamina with coffee which is around the map, as well as batteries for a flashlight you find later on, and a key for doors that you need to open. The game does a pretty good job on explaining what you have to do, although I wish you didn’t have to click tab every now and then to see your inventory and objective status, but that is just personal opinion. You have 3 tasks, sign documents, move boxes to the storage room, and approve or decline paperwork on a computer. The lights will turn off randomly while you do whichever of these tasks. All in all I really recommend this game for the price and gameplay as well as the scares lol. It is pretty hard at first but after you get the hang of things you can probably beat it. Here is my full game playthrough/let’s play if you want to check it out. Thank you and have a blessed and spooky day! :)

This game has some potential, but there were too many things to keep track of to beat the game! Also there was no map so you basically I had to figure out where to go all on my own with no instructions in the menu as well! Again, I could see this game being really good but I think the people who made it have a lot of things to work out before I would consider it fun.
If you want an idea of what I am talking about, I posted a video of me attempting to play it:

Coffin Mall
i usually think i have pretty low standards for indie 1 dev spooky games but this is easily the most underwhelming one i have played, its essentially a car dodging simulator. atleast the ps1 graphics aesthetic is interesting and seems like its not an asset flip game. also yes you can pet odysseus

I had fun with Coffin Mall, while the game was very short, it gives you an experience similar to that of the final scene in Christine but in a shopping mall with no bulldozer to protect you. I’m sure there’s going to be more content added later, the extras said something about a bonus game coming soon.
The atmosphere is beautiful, from the PS1 style graphics, to the dark synth wave track that plays once the action kicks in, I managed to survive long enough to hear the melody that pays homage to Christine’s theme. Nothing says “pissed off killer car” like a dark synth track. The weather accented everything nicely too, the thunder and lightning sometimes fired off as the car struck the bench I was hiding behind.
