THE IMPOSSIBLE

THE IMPOSSIBLE

This game has been in my wishlist, waiting for the release. I bought and downloaded this game, almost as soon as it was in my notifications, and played it straight away. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s funny, in a weird way. It’s quite minimalist, which isn’t a bad thing for this kind of game.

You really need to focus on what you see, or don’t see? I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

There’s steam achievements to collect along the way, as you get further into the labyrinth of puzzles to solve.

I also love the music that accompanies the game, it’s not annoying like some game music can be.

Decent optical illusion based puzzle game with good relaxing music.

I liked it and I can see it having more replay ability than other puzzle games but I would make a few changes to it.

First, it would be nice to see what level you’re on and also to have some added complexity or even obstacles in higher levels.

And I’m not sure what the point of the AI messages are as it adds nothing to the actual game play but I don’t exactly hate it either.

Overall a pretty good game for the price.

I hate when there is no options for key bindings. Don’t like playing with arrow keys on pc. Both Em-A-Li games can be navigated by mouse, that’s good but you have to press enter key to enter doors or use items, which ruins it.There is a non stop static noise in bg from start which is annoying for me. The story is not that good and the voice narration lags behind the words narration so I end up reading faster and skip which ruins the fun.No options for narration format so no choice. Game is small and doesn’t eat up time. If i play it continuously it will finish within 35 mins i guess. Still not worth the time for me. Ended up watching youtube while playing lol.

Another of those games where the overall rating is probably neutral, but there’s no such option on Steam, so I’ll err on the positive side because I did enjoy my short time with it (my playtime is quite a bit longer than what you need, I started in a different computer and then I tried to be very thorough).

The game is almost a visual novel/walking simulator in terms of how limited interaction is. There’s a few hotspots along the way which you can interact for more flavour text which can be mixed, but the main narrative has a grand total of one meaningful “choice” in it, which really only skips you some small amount of content if you take the more “obvious” (at least if you are generally genre savvy) option. I saved at this supposed fork in the road and when I came back to see what happened and was relatively unimpressed with what was there.

A charming little visual novel about friends, philosophy, memes…oh yeah, and there’s also a robot!

Personally, I enjoyed the game, as well as both endings (for different reasons; something something spoilers). It’s a fairly quick playthrough (maybe 1~2 hours), so it doesn’t require a lot of your time.

Also, the couple of easter eggs I stumbled upon when naming the robot were amusing. :D

I truly cannot reconmend this game, and here’s why.

I appreciate a game that tries to deal with mental illness and depression. I believe that these are important issues to bring to light, and to have a conversation about. However, there are 2 things about this game that made it really hard for me to swallow:

1. The way that all of the characters related to one another and to each others' personalities and challenges felt very contrived, inauthentic, and ultimately without empathy. You have a charcter that in the beginning literally tries to program a robot to kill his friends laughing with them by the end, a character who fakes his own death, causes everyone massive trauma,. and is ultimately like “lol whoops guys should I not have done that?”, and folks modeling behavior that is absolutely not the right way to deal with or help someone dealing with mental health issues. Yes. The game makes it clear that there are no easy answers and that dealing with those issues is difficult. But I legitimately felt bad playing the game at some points because I had no way to choose better actions for the characters because you literally get to make like 4 choices in the entire game.

One of the funniest games ive played in ages. I havent been laughing this much since … i dont even know anymore. Its a wonderful game and definitely worth its price. Oh and since the credits encouraged me to give the creators of the game some feedback: ITS AWESOME, YOU DID A SPLENDID JOB GUYS AND I HOPE THERE WILL BE MORE OF THAT. No but seriously, im willing to spend all my hard earned money on games like this. As uve stated in the credits jokes are getting a worse image day by day and so i love to see guys like you who dont hesitate do be a little bit more daring than most of the other devs out there. Seriously, the price is fair and square for what we get, its a great game and im looking forward to see more of you :)!

Having played Randumb Studios, this one on it’s surface seemed much different as most of the others are horror themed. Fun little game - it’s brief but definitely worth the price and you will get some laughs out of it if you aren’t too dead inside.

I also suspect the game itself is a piece of a larger puzzle that I have yet to figure out but has me intrigued to no end. Recommend this and the other Randumb Studios games!

I bought Haunted Shores on a whim because a friend of mine had mentioned it was just added to steam. I decided to check it out since it had paranormal and horror related tags. Man let me tell you what! I have anxiety and I use THX Spatial headphones which has obvious surround sound and allows sound to play from either headphone that sound is on. So for example if its on the left you hear it in your left headphone. Anyways, what I am trying to say is that I freaked out playing! Very few games can do that to me! I don’t wanna give away any spoilers as to what got me to jump, but just take my word on it. It will happen!

Misery Mansion

Misery Mansion

To the developer: Too short. I was expecting to find the bodies of the parents.. or that it was a fake ending. The sigil pointing towards the exit door seems to indicate it was a trap and fake out AS DOES THE FACT THE MONSTER STILL ROAMS AROUND IN THE HALLWAYS AFTER THE RITUAL IS DONE THAT BANISHES HIM. Both of those led me to thinking there was going to be a trick ending. But no. Just a bland.. “the end”.

It’s worth playing and fun. But dude. I beat it in 3.5 hours. That’s not enough entertainment for a 6.99 game. A good rule of thumb is a dollar an hour.

I really liked this game. it is a pretty impressive level design, graphics looks good, sound design is really good. And for a first game it is really impressive, and i really do hope to see more horror in the future from this developer. Gameplay is pretty simple, you explore the mansion, find some notes, and avoiding a monster while doing so.

Now with that said, I did have a few performance issues here and there when saving and loading in the level, but nothing game breaking and that even might have been fixed since i played. The character do walk a bit slow, and that makes you want to run all the time, but that will make you miss the most of the atmosphere. A few more scares here and there would have been welcome too :)

Ease into your chair and prepare yourself for this continuation of the SIMULACRA universe. In this iteration, you will have new advanced tools and a mosaic of widely branching narratives spread across 2 characters that are continually altered by your choices. You will have the choice of playing as a junior detective or a reporter who is recruited by a special department at police headquarters. With only one piece of evidence, you must find the truth of how a young woman & interweb influencer ends up dead on a case that is already closed. Lives and livelihoods are on the line, there is no room for mistakes.

Let me be clear, I really liked the first game. I think it did most things right and while I wasn’t a fan of the jumpscares and it definitely looked like an indie game production wise.

This game is a perfect example of how sometimes, less is more.

Let me start with my biggest pet peeve of this game, and that’s the extreme slowness of it all. The entire plot is not that long, I actually think it might be around the same length as the first game, but it is padded out by how extremely slow it all is. Be it conversations or the extreme amount of stuff you need to click through and scan gets annoying on the second playthrough, if not first.

Insaniam

Insaniam

Story

You play as investigative journalist “Mr. Johnson” after receiving several tips of a government cover up at a recently abandoned psychiatric hospital. All reports suggest illegal experiments taking place on the patients of the facility- and supposedly a government cover up. Detective Johnson decided to go through with this one off-books and after just a few days of preparation he sets out to explore the abandoned facility in the middle of the night, to recover patient records.

2AM: You arrive at the scene, it is a gloomy and silent night. Rain is pouring, wind flows through the air as an unsetteling feeling kicks in. Something isn’t right here, but there is only one way to figure out what it is…

Gameplay

Insaniam is a first person survival horror game, your objective is to retrieve at least five patient records for the abandoned facility.

You’ll be forced to scavenge for batteries to keep your camcorder charged, utilize the night vision mode to explore the dark, use sanity pills or stay in the light to keep sane, avoid hallucinations, while something is lurking in the darkness and so much more.

Gameplay is based around a speed run mechanic where you’ll play for shortest time to escape or longest time survived. Randomized game mechanics keep this experience fresh and increases re-playablity.

The game is not story focused but there is underlying lore that is optional to explore through text, visuals or audio.

Somewhere in the Shadow

Somewhere in the Shadow

I won’t lie, I came in thinking this game was gonna be a dumb little thing, but me and my boy had a lot of fun playing it! There were cheap jump scares, but one of the monsters was actually very suspenseful and got a real scream out of me! For only $3, I would say it’s definitely worth the money. The animations are a bit clunky, and the AI can be a bit wack, but after the biggest bug got fixed, it was a fun time and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, hour or two horror experience.

Real player with 2.4 hrs in game

Decent fun for a low price. There are some tedious parts where you have to avoid monsters and ghosts, but also some fun parts like the puzzles or the co-op section where one player guides the other through the darkness. The horror aspect is mostly just jumpscares, not very scary overall. Played it with a friend for Halloween and it wasn’t too bad of a time.
