Egyptian Senet

Egyptian Senet

To summerize, if you are someone who goes for something with content and thought then try this out; it’s for literally 50 cents when it’s on sale.

This game’s graphics are higher than the screenshots posted, so don’t be fooled. This version is made for normal desktop resolution so I don’t know why any kid would complain. The design is pretty good for a 2D design, and the effort put in the details in the art were meticulously done and not just randomly copied. Everything to me seems like it has its own cham, the victory screen is cute and pleasant, while the prompt when you lose is unpleasant: as to be desired since this is a game for anyone to play and is meant to be symbolic, hence its accessibility to all ages is a plus.

Purchased for a reduced price of £0.79 so can’t say I’m not happy with the purchase!

In all Senet is captivating and this version acts as a good introduction, it is quite addictive as a casual game.

In way of criticism the game presentation is dated and I get the distinct feeling when moving up the difficulty levels the AI gets ‘luckier’ rather than more tactical. This makes the game short-lived as it soon becomes tiresome knowing the AI will often throw the correct combinations to rapidly progress pieces. Something that rarely happens for the human player!

Mulaka

Mulaka

I gotta cleanse my soul after writing a negative review for Hunter’s Legacy. Mulaka is SO MUCH better of a game, and I’m happy to recommend it unequivocally and at full price. It’s a fast-paced action game with light platforming and even lighter RPG elements (there’s a linear skill “tree”). The art style, music, and even the level geometry itself pay tribute to Northern Mexico and its indigenous people the Tarahumara. It plays somewhat like a modern Zelda (one of the game’s achievements even nods to Zelda explicitly), as it’s level-based ending with bosses that have a slight “gimmick” to them, along with light puzzle elements. There’s collectibles, NPC’s, a bestiary to fill out, all the hallmarks of a game of this style. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it’s really solidly designed and built, and it’s an absolute blast to play. The story may not seem like much on its face, but it’s the Tarahumara creation myth playing out in front of you, so you can even say you learned something by playing this game. And do. Do play this game.

Though controls are clunky and detail is quite thin, this is a nice medium-length action adventure.

Most combat is boring and annoying, but the boss fights are interesting and quite fun, easily the strongest point in the game. Unfortunately poor controls mean a lot of frustration as you often can’t get Mulaka to do what you want him to do. There is also quite a bit of platforming—fortunately the poor controls are not quite as frustrating here. It’s mostly just weird because the world boundaries are rather porous.

Game Of Puzzles: Slavic Mythology

Game Of Puzzles: Slavic Mythology

A very easy, relaxing game with beautiful artwork. The main draw for me was its educational jumping off point to look into the folklore creatures more thoroughly elsewhere. The game play is a simple jigsaw puzzle block mover, and I got through it all in less than an hour on my first play through. I’ve gone back to it a few times when I’ve been stressed and just wanted a pretty game where I had no possible way of failing.

I think the game would be good for kids.

Things you need to know about before playing or purchasing The Gate of Firmament ( 穹之扉 in Chinese)

At the foremost, I have to be frank I am a fan addicted to The Gate of Firmament and its gaming series. But in this review I will try to elaborate neutrally the pros and cons of this game alongside with things you might be interested to know about.

  • Languages Supporting. You attention here please, this game only supports English, Japanese, Chinese, Traditonal Chinese with the corresponding UI, menu and subtitles. So feel free to play if you are English or Japanese players, but unluckily for players in other regions, whether waiting for mods( or official translations, donnot be expecting on that ) or choosing not to buy is at your discretion.

Final Fantasy Love Stories? Pfft

This RPG i played it over three years amidst all the work and disappointments I had lol. and it is a real gem. Its basic outline is like 3/4 good FF games comprised together. But the story is a very powerful one and has one of the beautiful romantic storylines ever. The gameplay is pretty interesting, it has many locations, quests, equipment, forging, enemies and so manyyyy easter eggs hidden inside. It has this range of achievements that are so difficult and can be time consuming, to my knowledge only 3 people completed all achievements til date. I also think some achievements are bugged and that’s also a reason but regardless this is a pretty good game to play. Also this is one of the games where you can see how much the developers have cared for you, the small clock on the right up, good controls, mouse camera option etc. I was touched by it.

Apotheon

Apotheon

Apotheon is a 2D game about Greek mythology. Apotheon means “exalted to the state of godhood.” The Ancient Greek gods that we know from Greek mythology and their powers are on display in this game. The storytelling feels quite accurate and would make anyone with knowledge of Greek mythology feel welcome to play this game from the beginning.

The protagonist is Nikandreos. Nikandreos means “victory of a man.” Combine Apotheon with Nikandreos and you can imagine what direction the story of this game will be taking. As Nikandreos you will traverse the map ascending to Mount Olympus and be asked to topple Zeus, the father of the gods. The art direction is quite impressive for a 2D game, which includes patterns, shapes, and figures known to be found on Greek pottery. There are diverse weapons and armor that appropriately reflect Ancient Greece. The weapons and armor tend to wear out from use, so you must find or buy new weapons and armor. This is when marketplaces such as Agora and Acropolis come into play. Agora and Acropolis are marketplaces that include weapon merchants, armor merchants, and black market merchants are selling their items. Black market merchants sell the rare weapons, weapons you will find that have unique properties.

As a casual player I liked this game a lot: A God-of-War-like plot, classic platforming, a great variety of arms and enemies (though I hated all dog-like creatures, as I do in every game) and nearly everything of your heart’s desire (if you’re into platformers) apart from platforming challenges (as you can find them e.g. in Ori and the Blind Forest) make it really a great game. What I probably liked best was that every bossfight had its very own gimmick, so you don’t just hit and roll and rinse and repeat all over hoping you can finally kill the boss and then do the same thing all over again with the next one, no, the devs have been really creative in designing customized bossfights (Yet Poseidon is a tough nut to crack and also the pre-final fight against Zeus packs a punch, but all the others are less difficult. Personally I liked best the fight for the Aegis of Athena, since in my eyes it’s the most creative one and the reward one of the most useful in the entire game). Also the difficulty level is absolutely acceptable: It’s neither too hard nor too easy, even on Olympian difficulty it absolutely remains playable and does not even become as difficult as e.g. Salt and Sanctuary ordinarily is. All in all a fantastic game.

Chess Knights: Viking Lands

Chess Knights: Viking Lands

It’s been a while since I played chess and when I tried this game I could remember that beginner feeling.

I Recommend this game for those who like chess and also likes a good mind challenge.

I liked some scenario items left behind … buckets, wooden decks and wagons that block areas in board, these kind of things got rid of predicables movements and make things more challenging. I also liked the way some parts got half-covered by snow, this increase the challenge and make me think twice on choosing where to move … specially against Bishops. A little suggestion to improve a sense of progress could be some kind of icon or text that tells the current chapter and stage.

Move chess knights across varying boards to pick up pieces from one square and return them to home squares while avoiding being taken by AI driven enemy pieces.

There are a lot of issues here, the difficulty wildly varies, though ultimately never gets particularly clever and many of the puzzles become just a matter of moving one of your safe pieces back and forth until the board state lets you win.

Some levels try to limit that which is where you feel a sudden difficulty spike which just ends up being more frustrating than challenging.

Little Hats

Not bad at all for an early alpha. Plenty of space to run around, harvesting, crafting and building systems work, some dangers, a bit of detailed neighborhoods already in. Pro tip: agarics are not poisonous to gnomes!

I would recommend the game while it is cheap and just hope a sole developer comes through and finishes the project. I personally have a good feeling about this : )
