My Mind Ghost

My Mind Ghost

So, I gave this a go and was open to it, there is some interesting mechanics though not fulfilled in the best way, there is at the root of this a simplistic yet tricky little puzzle game. However it has some bugs which I could forgive but the most Major Bug is you get to the end of LVL 2 and there is no more game, despite it showing there is 8 lvls at least, until this is fixed do not buy this game.

TLDR: bug stops you playing game

Update to review: the game also send tcp data over port 27030 with no indication of why / what its doing (stay safe folks), they did fix so lvl 3 is avalible but progress now does not save so if you exit out back to lvl 2 for you, y do I still play this keen for next update

My Mind Ghost is a simple 2D top down JRPG style retro pixel stealth action game where you must run around a small 2D “maze” and collect objects to escape while a ghost chases you.

The rough as guts English translation is just the tip of the iceberg in this horror stealth game. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel “art” as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It’s unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.

“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” ― Susan Sontag

35MM is a story rich walking simulator in the guise of a survival horror - yet there isn’t much horrific about it. It’s a short unity game - bear with me, please - and the only game developed by Sergey Noskov so far. As all indie horror games, it has its downsides, but I’d say that the game is praiseworthy for quite a lot of things.

35mm references the camera that you have at your disposal throughout the whole fairly dictated journey in this walking simulator/foreign film type of game which emphasis is mainly placed about a viral epidemic which has swept through the mother land and its overall effects. If your thinking that its your typical Zombie game, then you would be wrong as the virus eventually kills them, it does not keep them alive. If your thinking this is an open world game, then again you would be wrong as the levels only gives you that illusion, but travel in any direction for about 10-20 seconds you are bound to hit an invisible wall.

Like many other asymmetricals, this game HAS potential, but it’s plagued with the typical issues and problems that most of these games start off with. Let’s start off talking about both the good and bad parts of this game.

The game has atmosphere, looks great, and has a gameplay loop that once honed in with regular updates could be a polished piece of work. It looks like an Outlast multiplayer game, and feels as such. The animations are very indie, and I hope to see this stuff improved over time. Sound Design is okay, but REALLY should be looked at and improved (those survivor screams are very silly, better themed music, and more atmospheric sounds would really amp up the map more.

What I like:

  • The developers are constantly taking in suggestions and keeping us updated in the Discord.

  • The atmosphere of the game is really nice! I’m excited to see the new maps that will be added soon.

  • The game is unique enough to not be a Dead by Daylight copy. People will always associate asymmetric horror with DBD but it’s not.

Complaints:

  • The killer is still pretty strong but they’re working with the community to make it feel more balanced.

  • Theirs not many people playing but it’s in beta. Also, the community is really nice so far.

Shadow Walls

A good indie game. It is not really a horror game but an action game. There is an atmosphere of suspense through sound, but the theme is action. The difficulty is well balanced, which is very rare in the indie scene. Today, I arrived in the last phase, I believe there was a short time to finish, but it is not easy. There is a good progression of the difficulty that increases gradually and peaks in the last phase, of course. My only criticism is the flashlight, which in fact is useless, just decoration. The developer has a style that can be recognized in other works and knows how to do a good level design, this is very good. And finally, the game has an originality, something also difficult to achieve today with so many titles. Congratulations.

Very nice game to play and with a lot of challenge. It is undoubtedly a great deal for the price. If you are looking for a fun and challenging experience, this game is for you.

Dismantled 2

Dismantled 2

Dismantled 2 is a survival horror game. It will see new characters involved in the story, 4 years after the events of the first game.

This sequel is also inspired by the old Resident evil games, The Suffering games and by old B-movies. It is built in the Unity 3D engine and is also in first person perspective.

Please be aware that my game is full of shocking content and also contains nudity.

Dismantled 2 aim for a N64 style esthetics, and will be as gory and disturbing as the first game.

Nice small game.

It is no more no less than a short russian FPS based on The Thing,

I found some bugs, and the game itself has nothing you will not find in any of the 100 FPS horror games out there.

With the exception of the most important, a clear idea, care and effort to deliver an honestly good game.

Besides polishing, the only thing I dislike about the game, and an my advice to the devs: Is better no not have voice acting than having a terrible one. Subtitles would have been more than good enough. Or in other words, dont add anything to the game unless you can do ir well.

Real player with 2.3 hrs in game

Clearly inspired by someone who watched “The Thing”. This game kind of feels that way.

I mean for an indie and low budget game it delivers just enough to warrant the price tag. Because you will not be playing this game for like 10+ hours(unless you play at highest difficulity).

Some puzzles(mostly item fetching) , combined with combat(that can be avoided if you are a bit smart) are dominating the game. I was a bit less happy about the cave maps but that’s because of the combat.

Overall, I think the dev(s) did a good job on this one. So this game is recommended.

What’s better than one shit game for 20$? 4 shit games for 20$! But let’s dig a little deeper and of course spoilers ahead.

First of all the dev advertises this game as a second person view of a horror game and as a “New kind of fear!” but I don’t fully believe the dev understands what second person is. When you play a game you usually have 1st and 3rd viewpoints where you either play as the character in 1st person or you play as someone who is viewing the character (Usually over their shoulder) in 3rd person view. A 2nd person game would be a game where the game is narrated to you and instead of playing a game you would be setting up situations where the game would then tell you the player what happens. Think of a choose your own adventure book or, better yet, an instruction manual where the writer is telling you what happens and what you need to do. A more confusing way to explain it would be saying you are viewing your character from someone else’s 1st person perspective. Anyways I digress, this is just a 3rd person game so let’s continue.

I like this game concept, but you cant invert the mouse. so if you are used to playing FPS’s then you know that this is quite awkward. This is a FP game, and you would think that an invert mouse selection would be appropriate. very hard to play without it.
