CheeseCube

Cheese Cube besides it’s looks is actually pretty fun (and challenging) and offers some fun gameplay, with a decent selection of levels, skins, and obstacles, it’s still in early versions so I expect more to come, besides that, it’s a fun little game that reminds me of the old flash games, and, well, it’s CHEESE, who doesn’t like cheese?

This is an almost pure hidden object game, and I’ve been craving exactly that lately. Other than lots of HO scenes (the art is beautiful, and the objects blend with the background nicely without popping out or blending too much), there are some nice basic puzzles. I wholeheartedly recommend this game if you want to play almost pure HOG with a quite interesting story. The main character is also very likeable. Great job, devs, I hope you’ll continue to make games about my favorite conservator, Mia!

This isn’t a cookie-cutter HOG (No neon colors, collectibles or morphing objects). I love the hand drawn look of the artwork and the clever HO scenes. It’s a good creepy mystery story and the progression through the scenes is fairly steady. I like the music (the developers use the same music on their card games) and the ambient sounds. The puzzles are all pretty interesting–though I’m not a puzzle person so I skip most of them. I’m almost 3 hours into this–not quite done but close–and I have enjoyed every moment. Definitely worth the reasonable price!

Overall I think it’s pretty alright my main complaint is the ending I felt like that was highway robbery I couldn’t have imagined that such a lackluster ending was awaiting after all the butt pain to get to it. I’ve seen a few of these types of puzzle/hidden object games and this one has some other puzzles infused which are interesting it really made me realize how actual real life dumpster juice I am at sudoku. The story kind of drags I felt like there’s so many ghosts that none of them really get a well fleshed out back story I feel like if the game focused in on a few less ghosts and worked on providing a more unique story it would have went a long way. For 2.99$ though you get a pretty lengthy and sometimes challenging puzzlish game.

This is a pretty standard Hidden Object Game. There are maybe 10 levels if I’m recalling correctly. Each level has 6 modes of play. Once you’ve played through each mode the next level is unlocked. The first mode is always a standard HO mode where it tells you what to find and you find it in the image. The second mode involves descriptions of the object the game asks you to find. The third mode requires you to find 25 of the same object (for example you find 25 cups). The fourth mode is to find the difference between the two pictures. The fifth mode is a jigsaw puzzle. The sixth mode is to find the two matching objects, like there are 8 keys and 2 are identical. In order to move on, you need to gain both a star and a gem.

It isn’t bad for a hidden object game; however, the side games seem to take control as one MUST play them too complete the main story. I am not a fan of the side games. I would not recommend this game for anyone that feels a need to complete a game when it is no longer fun or entertaining.

7 Roses - A Darkness Rises

7 Roses - A Darkness Rises

I bought this game because the tittle has the name Rose in it and a heroine called Amy Rose and we girls love seeing us portrayed the way we are smart, strong and fearless like Amy Rose is in this story. She was trusted and given the mission by the village Elder to save her people. It’s a point and click game to solve puzzles. I played the game right away and I found it entertaining and relaxing and didn’t want to stop playing it. I like the music in it and the incredible amount of puzzles which are sometimes simple and other times required more patience. The game and puzzles are fun. There isn’t much of a story line or characters development, but the small animated part at the beginning of the game and drawings are beautiful. I can see the amount of details and effort put into developing this game. I usually only buy games with achievements because they allow me to see my progress as I play and I’m slightly O.C.D. about them, so it drove me crazy that this game doesn’t have any for me to display on my profile xD. I can only imagine what beautiful drawing of Roses the achievements would have if the developers read my review and decide to add them to the game. I know a lot of Steam players feel like me about achievements. I also wish this game had trading cards, beautiful Roses stickers, emoticons, badges and background profiles. The Roses throughout the game are beautifully drawn. The game is reasonably priced. 3

One more hidden object game - click everywhere to find objects, use them at the right spot, solve various puzzles of different kinds. Nice music, quite low 4:3 screen resolution only. Nothing special, but relaxing if you enjoy the genre.

GAME BREAKING BUG – DO NOT BUY

I have been stuck at cabinet for months now early in the game. It says to search it if I press hint – but there is no option to search it. As far as I can tell this is a game breaking bug with no fix. I posted months ago with no developer response.

I will change my review if the game gets fixed.

Elementary My Dear Majesty!

Elementary My Dear Majesty!

I wanted to like this because it was definitely a different sort of experience. The storyline was sort of cute, though bizarre. The HOG scenes were either really easy, challenging, or nigh on impossible. Some things simply were not visible, no matter how I adjusted the view and zoomed in. The puzzles were a mix of too easy, perfect, and… well, pointless. I’m not big on randomly clicking to determine the correct order for multiple games. Overall, the frustration factor tips the scale on the downside for me. It is aggravating to be forced to use a hint for a HOG scene, then STILL not be able to see the item with a beam of light shining on it. Plus, after looking at two of the sets of directions for mini-games, I was unable to close them and acutally play. The only thing that worked was using the skip button, which meant I couldn’t play them and got stuck with silver trophies. While I think the idea of a 3D HOG is cool, and the bright colors were a welcome change, there are way too many issues that make it seem like the items were just sort of thrown in there. *My hours are so high because I left the game running while running an errand. About two-three hours would be more accurate.

Honestly, this is one of the best game in the genre imo. The biggest downside I found with Elementary My Deat Majesty! was that since I was trying to get gold medal for clues and time on each levels, I couldn’t carefully read through the funny dialogues.

In term of ambiance, both the music and the artstyle is really pleasing. I was getting bored of earing the same old tracks near the end, but that was after 3 hours of consecutive gameplay trying to find objects in various maps… Just about any soundtrack would get on your nerve after that.

Hidden Object Bundle 4 in 1

Hidden Object Bundle 4 in 1

A bundle of 4 HOGs containing:

House of 1000 Doors: The Palm of Zoroaster

Nice graphics, the HOGs scenes are beautiful but the difficulty is very low. 46 morphing objects to find. The story is fantasy style, with magic and fire spells and a very classic construction. Also it’s a sequel and I didn’t play the previous game(s?) so it felt a bit awkward. The characters and the cutscenes are nice. The ending was a total let down though: the cutscene lasted 3 seconds! It’s the game I liked the least in the bundle but it’s still a good game and I do recommend it.

Real player with 33.1 hrs in game

I’m going to group the games together for their mechanics until the end of the review because they’re very similar/the same. You have all the classic types of puzzles in here: memory games, spin-and-match, etc. For the most part, they don’t seem to be very challenging but are time consuming. They’re still fun (besides a few puzzle types I don’t really care for in any game), but you may hit “Skip” on a few just to keep moving.

The graphics are pretty decent – mostly standard fare for HOGs. Don’t expect excellent quality, however, as most HOG companies focus more on puzzles and story than graphics. Some computer animations will look like circa 2000s technology, but that never really bothered me. The voice acting was pretty decent for the most part, but there were a few characters who made me cringe a little.
