Angels Cove

Angels Cove

This game scared the crap out of me. I will admit I do not play horror games often, but the jump scares, music, and intense situations kept me incredibly anxious. Through all of that I was surprised when it was over and was looking forward to more game play.

Ehhhh. The spooks were hard to take seriously as they didn’t make much sense with the story (there wasn’t much of one, at least from what I could gather.) I enjoyed the graphics and the spooky atmosphere, and the pacing was pretty good too, but something I look for the most in a game is a good story…and this one just didn’t quite do it for me.

If you don’t care about that and are just looking for fun jump scares and classic spoops, then give it a go! I will say that the hour of gameplay it had to offer was very entertaining nonetheless! I also found out that this was a one person project, which is pretty impressive.

So, I gave this a go and was open to it, there is some interesting mechanics though not fulfilled in the best way, there is at the root of this a simplistic yet tricky little puzzle game. However it has some bugs which I could forgive but the most Major Bug is you get to the end of LVL 2 and there is no more game, despite it showing there is 8 lvls at least, until this is fixed do not buy this game.

TLDR: bug stops you playing game

Update to review: the game also send tcp data over port 27030 with no indication of why / what its doing (stay safe folks), they did fix so lvl 3 is avalible but progress now does not save so if you exit out back to lvl 2 for you, y do I still play this keen for next update

My Mind Ghost is a simple 2D top down JRPG style retro pixel stealth action game where you must run around a small 2D “maze” and collect objects to escape while a ghost chases you.

The rough as guts English translation is just the tip of the iceberg in this horror stealth game. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel “art” as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It’s unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.

I played more or less 2 hours, i enjoyed the first 5 rooms, the ambient sounds are great, the graphic is cool but in a specific objects like a telephone buttons and clock it’s hard interacting properly with them.

Fade Out is atmospheric VR room escape game with a twist. Every time you do something right the room changes in some way and it makes the game feel fresh and exciting. The rooms are pretty different from one another and there are clever puzzles in each of them. Puzzles are not too hard but I did spend quite a long time in the first room.

Pros:

  • Creepy atmosphere with matching soundscape

  • Hard enough puzzles to be entertaining but not too hard to make you stop playing

  • If you like room escape games, then this one is for you!

The Corridor: On Behalf Of The Dead

I truly enjoyed playing this game. The atmosphere was what kept me going to explore and discover more of what was going on here. If you liked playing Observer and Soma this game is right along those lines but with it’s own twist. It’s got a nice flavor of creepiness without resorting to jump scares to make you feel uneasy. . The ending is with a ‘to be continued’ tag and I do hope that there will be more game play to follow. Achievements are available which if you try to complete them will aid you in solving more of the mystery.

The Corridor: On Behalf Of The Dead is a story based Sci-Fi / Horror game that focuses mostly on setting a strong unsettling atmosphere while adding sci-fi elements around it.

You spend most of the game walking around exploring memories and piecing together the story. The cohesion system really works well and adds a nice survival mechanic.

Audio is relay nice too and adds a disturbing layer to the experience.

THE ILLUSION

THE ILLUSION

It’s a good puzzle game with mostly diverse puzzles ( a few were a bit repetitive). One thing that really stood out to me was the art work in the paintings - it’s very macabre and fits the game well, but I was also surprised that it doesn’t repeat very much - most of the paintings in each room are unique - so it was fun just to walk around and look at the artwork.

This is puzzle game where you need to find key in every room to unlock new rooms etc.

The puzzles are very challenging and so diverse.

Still I did not finish it (maybe I am in 25% progress I estimate, 5 hrs play time up to now) but I can easily recommend it.

The graphics is very beautiful with high attention to details.

Highly recommended for puzzles lovers.

Note: the game engine conflicted with Nahimic software installed in my PC (from ASUS), if you encounter this problem you need to stop the Nahimic service from computer management.

Good concept but they need to give you more to work with. There is just too much RNG involved the first few moves are often times unavoidably luck based and quite often even on the bigger maps with half of the map uncovered you have no other choice than to roll the dice and hope for the best.

The Lady Puppet

The Lady Puppet

The Lady Puppet is a Survival Horror Adventure game with emphasis on atmosphere and exploration. It features light puzzle solving sections, stealth sections and a peculiar “doll system” that lets you summon and control companions through the use of “dolls”.

Play as Lailah Reah, a young and innocent girl, and help her find a way out of Clawhill, a bizarre place where “survivors” have been turned into living marionettes.

Use everything you have at your disposal, survive the horror and uncover the mysteries behind Clawhill, the Masked Woman and the Final Autumn.

100 hidden gnomes

100 hidden gnomes

Worst in the series by far. Unless you are trying to teach a 2-3 year old how to use a mouse, simply pointless.

While others in the series have charming and sometimes quite clever artwork (100 birds still manages to hide the last few birds from me even after a few play throughs) this has neither.

2 minutes and 1 pan through the scenery and it’s done. (I had to leave it running and go cook some breakfast just to be able to write this review.)

TLDR: TSDB. (Too Short, Don’t Buy.)

Alas, I, your humble scribe of this here review, find myself unable and unwilling to give this game either laurels, or medals.

“Why?” asks thou, most saucily.

“Because,” respond I, tired of the fake Shakespeare talk, “it blows like a hurricane and sucks like a vacuum cleaner.”

Nothing is hidden in this hidden object game …and that sort of defeats the purpose of the danged thing.

! Unless the goal was a quick cash grab, in which case- kudos!

Previous efforts by the devs were not brain twisting by any means, but at least provided a well priced, mild and fun challenge with small images well integrated in the black and white line art.

Creeping Darkness

Creeping Darkness

Is it worth 5$? Depends on who’s paying and who’s playing. Can it be WORTH 5$? I’d like to think so. Batteries, Painkillers, and Decisive Doors closing can really make it feel impossible to beat. I wish we had a little more guidance on where to go and potentially what to do even though you can kinda figure this out through trial and error.

Also, I made a video if you’re interested. (https://youtu.be/zBn5Wv3Blrc) .
