Hexa

Hexa

(edit: a patch added a few settings, edited the review to reflect that.)

all you do in hexa is rotate hexagons so the shapes coming out of one side of a hex can reach the end located on the side of another hex. colors matter, so if a circle enters a hexagon on the yellow side, it will leave wherever the other yellow side is. there are also converters between shapes, as well as splitters and switches that unlock blocked sides.

Mentally stimulating yet relaxing game. It’s good! I was looking for a replacement for Ishido which I can no longer find for PC. Hextones retains the stone placing challenge that I love in Ishido but expands it. Each stone in Hextones has six instead of four sides. Learning new strategies after years of playing Ishido with only four sided stones is surprisingly fun. Hextones also has incremental challenges where you must get 6 sided, 5 sided, 4 sided, 3 sided and 2 sided correct placements to pass to the next tier. This is more difficult than just accumulating points. The music is hypnotically good. Well worth the price.

Futuristic Puzzle for a Good Price! This is similar to previous square grid “tile placing” games we’ve played, but this time it’s hexagons, and the scoring is a little different.

The music and visuals seem relaxing, just don’t get worried as you’re running out of space to place tiles!

(It would be cool to have more various play modes, including one that lets you remove some tokens from the board so you can play longer! Also, it’s nice to have multiple backgrounds and tile sets available, if possible.)

War Mines: WW1

Great game!

Congratulations to the Devs! This is the best minefield retelling I’ve ever played :)

The idea of bringing the WW1 theme fit perfectly to illustrate the game.

This is a game where you have a lot of fun and relax for hours as you progress through the levels.

I’m addicted!

Loved the research that has been done on The Great War (aka World War I). I learned something about WWI that I did not previously know about the dogs used. This is a quick game though. Like many people, completed the game in less than an hour. Gives a new spin on the old Windows Minesweeper game.

This is a really pleasant puzzle game!

This is one of those games where you start it up, and you’re immediately dropped into a set of puzzles with no explanation as to how to proceed. Thankfully, the mechanics are easy to pick up, and new concepts are gradually introduced in intuitive ways. All throughout, the puzzles are very well-designed, and the difficulty curve is smooth.

Though there are only 90 “basic” and 21 “hard” puzzles in the game, and it may feel like a majority of the puzzles are themselves easy and short, I would say the game makes up for it by increasing in difficulty and throwing in a few tough puzzles in between the easy introductions of new concepts (which themselves are designed so as to not overwhelm you as you get used to them). The game also has two difficulties, an easy mode and a hard mode; these give you different achievements and have different puzzles in each, so this adds to both the replay value and challenge of the game.

AT A GLANCE:

3/5 Stars - This is a pretty decent logic based game. If you like messing around with numbers then check this game out. I would describe it as a logic meets sudoku puzzle. Definitely something different.

GAME GENRE:

Casual, Puzzle, Single Player, Indie, Logic

GAME DESCRIPTION:

Release Date: May 2018 - Click on the hexo’s to add or remove number dots. Equal the amount needed at the end of the hexo to finish. Puzzles get more challenging the farther along you go.

Swipe Fruit Smash

Incredibly addictive for no good reason, and completely inane. Good for vegging out, if you must.

I have to set a series of alarms so I don’t give my entire life over to this fruity nonsense.

Somebody stop meeeee!

This indie mouse-driven puzzle game definitely starts out quite amateurish.. I mean, all written in Comic Sans.. it was called like this on Windows 95?

Yeah, all the (little) text that’s written in the whole game is in caps lock and in comic sans, with some spelling errors (ok, who cares one can say.. it’s a casual game, there’s no backstory xD) but I mean, the game’s called Swipe Fruit Smash, and in the help section you’ll find “swype” (sic) in the first line.. xD

Since this game’s made in Unity and you can mess around with the settings, keep it full screen - playing it windowed will be very hard even in the level selection page..

Mighty Gemstones

a Simple match 3 game, it works perfectly thus far, you can mute the sound if you want, the achievements work but from what i understand you need the DLC for the last achievements so if you decide to buy ensure you get the DLC as well.

Do note that the gameplay is beyond boring, no effort went into this game whatsoever. It’s a plain and very simple game with nothing special behind it.

Nice little match 3 game. At the time I played, the achievements were not working but thanks to the fast work of the dev, they are now. Only 6 achievements and relatively easy to get. Definitely a keeper for me!
