No Plan B: Prologue

No Plan B: Prologue

“When your army has crossed the border, you should burn your boats and bridges, in order to make it clear to everybody that you have no hankering after home.“Sun Tzu.

.

.

With that in Mind. This game teaches you to lay it all on the LINE when wagering your plan of execution against the enemy.

.

“NO BACKSIES”. you can drill and rehearse over and over fine tuning your approach on an occupied structure but eventually you must execute the plan. At which point you can not change it. Failure is constant success is scarce in this game but the more you play the more aware you become in the strategic head space.

This is an excellent game and a surprisingly playable demo. If you liked games like Door Kickers, Breach&Clear, Frozen Synapse you will definitely enjoy this one.

PROS

  • Excellent timeline system. It eliminates the most frustrating part of Door Kickers: the hassle around syncing operator movement. In No Plan B you can easily ensure that everyone enters into the new room in the perfect moment.

  • Active, responsive developer.

  • Daily, weekly and monthly challenges sneak in a little competitiveness.

This game has potential, but its current replayability is not great. I “completed” it in about 4 hours and the final out of the three current levels has a game-breaking bug. The game feels like it should be in its beta stage at best. Here are a few things I would want in the game, and I will happily change this review when the game becomes more polished:

Level editor to make custom levels, with Community Workshop support

Fix bug in Level 3 and add more levels

Possible Co-op mode

Tesla tower seems to have infinite health, health bar just keeps on extending

This is an enjoyable arcade style shooter with a lot of freedom and simple mechanics. It has a decent soundtrack, I especially like the score on the third level. Good range of weapons with more to come and I look forward to new characters/levels too.

There are a couple of things that need fleshing out though, such as the third level crashing after you have defeated the cyborg boss and the Tesla seems to have infinite health? The health bar just starts going in the other direction when it reaches the end. Overall the game is a worthwhile buy for it’s low price-tag and I look forward to seeing it’s future content.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 tried too much to break out of the single path sniping origins, by cribbing elements from open world games. However, the result is a mixed bag and reminds one far too much of Far Cry 3.

As a special operative for the US government, you are sent into Republic of Georgia (former Soviet Union) to disrupt the separatists who, with help of criminal elements and outside support, terrorized the local government and military into leaving, and occupied the area in the midst of power vacuum. You are given objectives to accomplish, which usually means go into an area, kill a lot of bad guys, do your mission (whether it’s to kill someone, or to find/rescue/retrieve something) and get out safely. You are free to approach the mission any way you wish… Open world. Approach the target from any direction that is available to you. Occupy the hill across and shoot down, sneak in and knife the guards in the back, it’s all possible.

Summary

The review section, oh dear. Definitely not the game of 2017, but this is far, FAR from the disaster people make it out to be. An extremely fun, challenging and rewarding game that I thoroughly enjoyed more than I should have.

Unlock, upgrade and customise your gear to set out and traverse extremely large expansive maps. Snipe enemies from afar, infiltrate secret bases, or use all out action to complete your objectives from any angle at any time.

If you aren’t swayed by public opinions plus enjoy flawed yet fun games, snap this one up. For COD fanboys and people who enjoy AAA chores, sorry this isn’t for you.

Zombies In The Dark

Zombies In The Dark

2.5/10

From time to time, I like to take a chance on a super-cheap indie title that I find on Steam. I generally like top-down shooters and spooky games, so Zombies in the Dark fit the bill. Although I saw a few negative reviews, these were from when the game was in early access. I had hoped that the most prominent issues were fixed by the time the 1.0 release rolled around.

Unfortunately, I was incorrect. There are a lot of issues here that make Zombies in the Dark unpleasant to play:

I bought this game when it was on sale, It was interesting to play and it does remind me of the old resident evil games with the fixed point of view. I know its in early access, I’m hoping for more to be added.

The controls are very sensitive and it makes it a little hard to play. Its best to use the keyboard and mouse instead of the controller. I got further with the PC controls than I did with the console controls.

I like the old style of the game, so I’m not complaining.

Boundary

Boundary

Boundary is a multiplayer tactical space-based shooter that puts players in the role of a heavily armed astronaut, called an Astroperator, engaging in fierce team vs team zero gravity firefights and executing low-gravity operations on orbiting space installations against other enemy Astroperators and other entities.

Powered by your EMU suit, you can now navigate the harsh atmosphere of space and orbiting installations in order to engage enemy combatants in a 3-dimensional battlefield where threats come at you from all angles. This is astronaut combat more akin to dogfighting where your angle of attack and position can make all the difference.

Personalize your protective space suit and your arsenal of modified weaponry. Be a keen-eyed sharpshooter executing long range kills from afar or get in close and personal as an Assaulter, taking the fight forward. Modify and upgrade your chosen primary weapon from a wide selection of stocks, grips, scopes, barrels, and ammo types to coordinate with your play style and create a weapon and class appearance unique to you.

Heavily inspired by real life industrial technology and space exploration, Boundary features a varied selection of multiplayer maps including a wreck strewn debris field, Solar Farm and so on. These maps provide Astroperators with a range of diverse and challenging combat environments.

Weapon customization, multiple combat classes to choose from, including combat medics, snipers, support, and utilizing special devices like the grappling hook to help navigate complex map design will make your combat more unpredictable and challenging. Gain the tactical advantage and employ cunning strategies in multiplayer combat to gain the winning edge.

Edit.

After playing for several days i can tell there is no content. I mean the content this genre had 10 years ago is present, but not improved at all. You can lvl up base to 25 and that’s it. The only activitity for you is to try and beat others in different rankings, which is impossible due to existance of whales who can pay 10k+ $ monthly. Just in 2-3 days the ammount of time to upgrade or research something reached 20+ hours, so without constant speed ups there is nothing much to do about it. And by speeding up you pretty much cheating levels and reach end-game in hours, after which there is nothing else to do.
