ASMR LIGHTness - Light painting đź’ˇ

ASMR LIGHTness - Light painting đź’ˇ

A great little puzzler to stimulate your mind. If you’re a fan of Hidden Object Games you may have come across this type of puzzle before as you try to untangle a series of nodes connected by stretchy bands with no crossovers allowed.

Gentle music and soothing lightning make for a nice peaceful game. I enjoyed solving a puzzle or three at the end of the day to unwind. You’re rated one to three stars on completion based on, finishing the puzzle, the fewest number of moves, and then on the smoothest execution/speed.

You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/aALb7xq1NHU

So this is a drawing game that has two different modes. The main mode is your physics puzzler where you draw lines or place blocks to guide the ball through the obstacle course. You have an incentive to draw as few lines as possible to reach a higher score for the leaderboards. The second mode is just a sandbox mode where you can draw.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this game because of several issues. One of the biggest issues is the lack of content. There are only 9 levels, which I beat in less than 30 minutes. The second major issue are the poor interactions. You guide the ball through the obstacle course using a virtual joystick that is unwieldy to use. Every interaction in this game is poor and the game just lacks overall polish. It’s also ugly to look at.

Very interesting concept! I would love to see more out of this game going forward. After playing through a few levels, I found the game very relaxing and soothing.

Yes, I did receive it for free to stream.

It was not what I was expecting. I fell in love with it immediately, but honestly wasn’t sure how to stream it. Then I got sick and honestly forgot about it (I’m sorry!).

Then I was recovering and needed something chill to stream. I had always thought I would do it as a relaxing break between games or to wind down the stream. Needed something that wouldn’t tax my voice.

Within 15 minutes, my expectations were turned on its head. Kept hurting my throat cause I’d get excited. Viewers said they were clicking on the stream to find items, they had a lot of fun with stream delay telling me where to go, felt my disappointment when something wasn’t the item, and that was just the mechanics of finding the items.

Love Colors: Paint with Friends

Love Colors: Paint with Friends

a delightful relaxing game. the kids love it, simple concept, a bit rough around the edges, being able to pick your own colour in coop would be a nice feature, as it can get competitive fighting over the same colour. but well worth the tiny outlay.

Positives

+I like the little particles effect when painting a tile n_n

+The little heart containers displaying the remaining color to do are cute.

+I like the UI. It is crispy, and the color choice is soothing (light blue and white).

+The tabs make it easy to understand and continue in progress images.

+I like that the next color is automatically selected when the current one is finished.

+I like the confetti and the encouraging word with changing color after an image is finished.

+The fade in of the tiles when zooming out is cool! You can play with the numbers or only directly with the color without the layout and numbers!

Frame Game

Frame Game

So in case anyone was confused as to what kinda game this is, it’s like telephone, but with animation; first, everyone draws the first frame for their animation based on a prompt, and so eveeryone else has to try animating based on that frame, and than the next frame, etc (though if you don’t have any friends to play with, there’s also a free play mode where you can just animate based on a random prompt by yourself).

While I haven’t really been able to play with anyone yet, the freeplay mode was really fun on it’s own. Would recomend.

Puzzles with cats

Puzzles with cats

Lucky me has the dubious privilege of writing the first review for “Puzzles with Cats”.

Puzzles with Cats is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from serial copy+paste infringers, wow wow Games. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects from the Yoyogames/GameMaker Studio store and try to scam people into paying for someone else’s work on Steam. It’s nothing but a cash grab. This is wow wow Game’s fourth copy+paste of a GameMaker Studio template/asset.

This time they’ve ripped off a basic template for an ultra simple jigsaw puzzle game with some stock art of cartoon cats that they copied off the internet. Asset flips and other “Fake games” (as Valve calls them) are harmful to the industry, because they pollute the marketplace and reduce the visibility and exposure needed by genuine indie developers.

Passpartout: The Starving Artist

Passpartout: The Starving Artist

A copy of another painting? Nah nah, totally legit and original

Ever dreamed of being an inspiring artist selling your work in a public place? Sell physical paintings to customers as they walk through your wares? Look no further than Passpartout: The Starving Artist! Don’t worry about the starving part.

Set in France, you have a few levels to sell your paintings. But…you don’t start at the top. You start around the bottom, not so much where you are sitting on the sidewalk but at your storage space. Unknown by the public, work your way up so you can make an impact in the art world. Or just go bankrupt.

Flamebait Games' Passpartout: The Starving Artist is a true indie gem.

I first heard of this game through Jim Sterling and his video on it and just had to try it for myself. Glad I did.

Passpartout is a relatively simple game with a simple task. You’re given what is essentially a stripped down version of MS Paint with which you can paint practically whatever comes to mind, given that you have the creativity and talent for it.

Something I don’t really have, which is why I ended up specialising in the minimalist style.

DON’T BUY THIS GAME

This game wouldn’t even launch when I first got it. I had to check discussions for a solution to the problem given by another player, then it worked. Now the last achievement won’t unlock (2 hours in game). The dev seems to have vanished into thin air.

Do Not Buy This Game

I usually wouldn’t jump to that and suggest it so strongly, but this shouldn’t even be on Steam. For the past 2 months at the very least they’ve known that the game doesn’t work and they’ve done nothing about it, they seem to refuse to even acknowledge it.

When you launch the game it gives a fatal error “Failed to load mono”, this means that something went wrong during the download. If you take a closer look at the game’s files you’ll notice that Steam by default now doesn’t even download the mono folder at all into the location of the game’s local files. You can fix this yourself by going into Steam’s console, getting the game’s files and dropping in the mono folder yourself. The problem is most people won’t even know how to start to do that. It’s also not our job to fix their game. This isn’t IKEA, you shouldn’t have to piece together games just to use them.
