Dangerous Lands - Magic and RPG

Dangerous Lands - Magic and RPG

I really do enjoy this came. I always had a soft spot for indie games on the cheap cheap, despite most being terrible and this is a diamond in the rough. However, it is painfully lacking in some areas. Mainly a full on map, the mini map doesnt tell me were I need to go for the next quest. The second is the character creation screen. Litterally no options at all for how your guy looks. the worst part, is that the char is described as female, yet is clearly a man. I wouldnt mind this much, save for the goatee. However, I also have a friendly little suggestion, for a game mechanic. Since Orcs drop these Trunks, what if you make it so we can built camps that act as fast travel stations, yet can be destroyed by monsters. They can be upgraded for quite a bit of trunks, into forts. wich cant be destroyed, and can be used to house mercenaries. My other suggestion, as mentioned before, are mercenaries, Npcs that can follow you arround, defend your camps (fast Travel Pionts) and aid in combat. My last suggstion, is simply more merchants, maybe if one moved in to each new area after doing certain quests.

The game is actually quite fun but there are some very rough areas:

  • location is quite hard: you never know where you have to go.

  • Map is quite useless.

  • Quick level up and few useful skills

  • Quite bugs with character stats and UI

  • Can’t exit to main menu from UI while alive

  • Running simulation absically

I look forward to update my review when the game gets updated.

DYNASTY WARRIORS 9

So, after this game got some patches and new features were added I thought it would be the right time to revise my review. I started and tested this game every time they released a patch. After over 120 hours and completing every achievement in this game here is what I think after all the patches and new features. Notice I played every Dynasty Warriors game from 2 to 9 as well as the extreme legends and empires variants.

Technical:

Performance:

The game still has huge performance issues. It depends on the version of the game. 1.13 was okay while the newer versions have big frame drops again. I have a pretty good pc and still get these drops.

While this game is not as terrible as some people claim it to be, almost every aspect of it is mediocre at best. It is obviously rushed, maybe with additional 6-12 months of development it could be a better a game, but it’s Koei we are talking about. They have fanatical devotion to “quantity over quality” principle, so instead of taking time to make one good game, they will make 5 identical shallow games and milk them with DLC. Back to the topic:

1)Open world, the main feature of this game (and the savior of the franchise in Koei’s dreams) is the biggest flaw. While the map is pretty big, exploring it is not fun at all. Cities look mostly identical and they are relatively small. Besides the standard visiting traders and blacksmiths routine just like in any other game, there is nothing to do in them. Resources are everywhere and very easy to find and obtain. From aesthetic point of view landscapes look very bland in comparison to real China (compare some photos with screenshots). You can find bandits and animals in the wilderness doing completely nothing. That is everything I can say about exploration. Then we got super fun activities to do in a hack and slash games. Fishing (mashing button to become the richest man in China in 10 minutes), hunting (beating or shooting animals for no particular reason), housing (inviting officers to make bonds with them which are completely pointless), errand boy quests (beside being boring, they offer pitiful reward), setting traps (just getting materials from them after some time), everything we could ask for a musou game.

FADE, THE FIRST CHAPTER

FADE, THE FIRST CHAPTER

By far one of the best early access games I’ve played. The story isn’t that rich, the combat is clunky at times, and there’s a lot of difficulty spikes. However, It holds that souls-like feel of accomplishment after getting through encounters and fights that you struggle with. overall I would give the game a 6 maybe 6.5 out of 10. I can see alot of potential with this game once some more features are added and some of the clunkyness\bugs are fixed.

I love the game and its interesting mechanics

Balancing for me is waay too harsh but the Souls like games are the same.

It has lots of content and a Companion system which can be complicated like im sure i may of dismissed my companion on accident….?

The companion can also block your way sometimes or get stuck in places leaving you to fight on your own.

Discord has people who respond occasionally .

I feel that there might be more that can be done in the game but so far i would say it is worth its price.

Neon Cyber Desert

Neon Cyber Desert

Humans have become extinct, and only robots and monsters roam through what remains of past civilization. Fueled by a mysterious substance in the sand all creatures, mechanical or organic, fight for survival in the vast desert wasteland.

As you reboot in the middle of the desert, your race for survival begins. Your memory backup is inaccessible and your energy level is depleting rapidly. Every creature in the desert is hostile. Are the obelisks gonna give the answer to what happened to you and the world?

ENCOUNTER HORDES OF MONSTERS

Killing enemies will release some of their energy and it will recover your energy level. All enemies have their own attack patterns and group behavior. Face monsters that surround you, others that jump attack and scatter, and loners that will tear you apart.

SCAVENGE THE RUINS TO UPGRADE YOUR ABILITIES

The desert is harsh! Research forgotten knowledge and build upgrades from scrap metal to improve your robot and its equipment. You choose yourself if you want to prioritize offense or defense, or research to craft other equipment.

BUILD YOUR OWN HOVER BIKE

Once unlocked you can speed up travel across the desert and jump over the ruins. Ram enemies for extra damage!

EXPLORE AN OPEN WORLD

In the vast desert you can still find a variety of different regions. Venturing into these areas are bound to turn up interesting discoveries, and you might even uncover the secret of the obelisks!

Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

This is probably my all-time favorite Isometric loot Pinata Action RPG (i.e “Diablo clone” - you can see now why most people prefer that term). Set in a huge, beautiful Elder Scrolls-like open world, it is immediately set apart from its contemporaries in other ways as well - some good, some bad, some simply arbitrary.

The Good - The character customization/development is second to none compared to others in the genre, the loot/gear is extensive (the armor sets look incredible for the most part) and the art style is impeccable. The world is varied and interesting, really a joy to explore as it is handcrafted with all kinds of cool side areas and vignettes waiting to be discovered.

GOOD:

  • Absurdly big map. It’s so vast that it could even put some of the MMORPGs (or Skyrim) to shame. But it’s not that amazing - what makes it truly unique is it’s quality. Repetitive scenery, reused parts of the map, areas that look like being done using procedure generation? Nope - totally not the case. It’s astonishingly detailed.

  • Character building. This game is a goldmine for people thinking that character building is what makes ARPG. 7 characters, each has around half a dozen of core builds, with unaccountable amount of stuff that could be tweaked “to taste”.

Sacred Gold

Sacred Gold

So, it’s time to rewrite the review on the eve of Sacred’s 15th anniversary (27 February).

That game has a feel of its time: in 2004 you couldn’t expect very realistic graphics and 3D models, tons of scripts, so the main “languages” of the games were texts (plot, lore books, quests…) and locations. Both features were implemented greatly, and it’s the main reason why I personally love this game.

Comparing this game to the others, I can easily highlight its dignity - it never tries to “throw” its story about its past and present times into your face. In many others NPCs will tell you a lot about, like, how exactly they are suffering from villains, how many cows died because of plague, syphilis and profuse diarrhea, you may see orcs setting fire on villages, etc. Definitely not this case. Not any quest or book tries by itself to make you feel exceedingly excited for what happens in the world. But people’s problems are related to each other, so if you will compare all the information you get about the location, you would surely realize how exactly this place lived in past years, what precisely is a “hard time” for this hamlet and how “hard times” are exerting on this land. And when you comprehend it, that gives you a feel of complex live of kingdom’s inmates. I was frightened when the picture came to me, also I conceived what really we are doing while serving for the Crown. Any other game I’d played before was never able to evoke those feeling in me for imaginary setting; previously it was a privilege of books or cinemas. Quests added in original company by addon “Sacred Underworld” follow the same right direction, but, unfortunately, Menelgond ones (in addon company) are much less related to each other, thus losing that point.

Caveat before I start: There may be difficulty getting the game to play on Windows 10. I’ll give instructions for what fixed it for me at the end of this review.

This is one of my favorite older games.

Positives:

  1. Movement is mouse-driven. (I personally hate aswd.)

  2. Eight classes to play.

  3. Each class has a different starting point and slightly different story line.

  4. Each class is unique from the others with very different skills.

  5. Very large, open-world with many dungeons as well.

Grand Battle

Grand Battle

Must buy if you like RPGs!

It’s nice to see a solid, well presented and very playable game of this type appear without the usual hype and fanfare, and get plenty of attention for its gameplay rather than its sexy heroine or Hollywood guest stars. These game has made it work. I can tell this is going to be extremely replayable. There is 10 heroes and you make a party of 4 at any one time. You also choose a starting hero and your first partner varies depending on who you choose.

The game takes a little adjusting to but honestly is really enjoyable and reminiscent of a classic old school RPG. You can stat up characters, use equipment slots and seems like there are a lot of abilities just like you would expect. Not a huge story game but seems like a fun hack and slash.

9th Dawn III

9th Dawn III

9th Dawn III is a great hack-and-slash dungeon crawler/RPG with a lot of content. The game has a semi-open world concept with limited access to areas related to the main story. There is a predefined path to progress in the game, but the number of optional dungeons gives a lot of freedom. I enjoyed the storyline, even if it is a clichéd “save the world from evil” scenario.

You can definitely tell that the developers put a lot of attention to detail in this game. There is a huge amount of items, skills, monsters and general things you can do in the game. You can go fishing and make a meal out of your catch, or you can go mining and forge a new weapon etc.

Real player with 183.8 hrs in game

9th Dawn III is a 2D pixel take on a huge open world filled with smithing, jewelcrafting, alchemy, cooking, taming monsters, a card game along with the usual dungeon crawling and loot that are familiar for everyone. The animation and art for this game are it’s weakest points, which as an artist I hate saying. On the plus side, everything else is so damned good that you will get past the look of it pretty damned quickly. It is singularly my only “complaint” about this game, and even there the dark dreary textures that seem to blend into each other are vastly outweighed by amazingly implemented gameplay mechanics, a fun little story that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and a plethora of crafting minigames and card minigames that will keep you entertained for hours.
