Frag Grounds

Frag Grounds

I saw no reviews and I got curious.

First impression, Servers are completely dead. They’re so dead in fact, Steam Charts can’t process the level of JFK dead this game is. SteamDB can though, and there were 2 players on Jun 9th. Peak playerbase was 5 players, on July 23rd, 2020. I hope everyone had fun when they played the game.

My central issue with this game is simple: The singleplayer mode has one map, and the multiplayer, the meat of this game is, as stated, quite dead. In fact, to run a server, I had to rent one from a shady Euro site, whom kept shutting down my server due to the game lobby having a max of 12 players, and the server only being paid for 8 players. That’s on 4NetPlayers however, not the developers.

Frag Grounds is an abandoned Early Access FPS arena shooter with a militaristic “tacti-cool” theme. There’s a multiplayer mode (no players) and a wave survival shooter mode where you start in a building and dozens of completely identical AI come running at you for you to shoot.

The developers abandoned the game less than a year after it launched to the sound of crickets. The last update for the game was in April 2021.

The quality here is deplorably bad despite the venerable Unreal Engine backing the game. It looks like many of the game assets are just asset flips from the Unreal Asset Store.

I was sceptical at first reading some reviews while this was in early access and hesitated to buy it till now (after the full release). However while it still has some bugs, it offers a lot of content and provides an enormous amount of fun to play! I didn’t expect to have such a great time shooting cardboard enemies! While a lot of weapons, upgrades and levels are available you need to unlock them first. However it is not hard to unlock the levels and earn a lot of money to buy weapons and upgrades. In fact, some upgrades (e.g. the cheap laser-pointer) make the game very easy so you might want to stick to vanilla weapons or to choose the hardcore mode which disables the targeting help system and makes finishing a level very rewarding. Of course in the higherst levels choosing the right weapon (and upgrade) to do the job is essential. The game provides multiple hit zones on the cardboard targets, explosive elements for additional damage and even easter eggs (at least in the office, where you can select the level and manage your gear). The sounds and visual effects are great and the game runs perfectly on my PC (Ryzen 1700X, 8GB, GTX1070, Vive). A clear recommendation if you like shooting and don’t need real life-like enemies!

Look elsewhere. There are many VR shooter options that are vastly better in every way.

The only real challenge to the game is poor design.

Every target has a giant flag with a number on it indicating its “health.” While it’s fairly useless, it does serve to block your view of any target that’s above it.

There are hostage taker targets with hostages in front of them that have some element of random position. Often you’ll have just the tiniest outline sticking out to shoot the hostage taker, which is fine. But sometimes they are exactly behind the hostage. You can’t see the hostage taker at all much less shoot it! Civilian targets that are the same as the hostages pop up on their own so you really can’t tell sometimes that there is a hostage taker behind them until they kill the hostage and ruin your run.

Friends, I really hate to post this as the game is bipolar to the nth degree. There is brilliance here, great fun and there is an odd idiocy so boring and compromised by bad reticles and basic misunderstanding on the “ones” of snipping that it makes the game truly unplayable. When it shines, those parts are not to be missed as they are beautifully rendered and as engaging as one would ever want, a new HIGH for the franchise. But, just as I had feared looking at the little we were shown, when it fails it is awful, unplayable and it stops you wanting to return to the game and as there is no going past one chapter until it is done, we will all have to stay put….on a platform….and pretend that this is fun. It is a bore folks, the scopes are simplistic, the marking unreadable (as are many of the distances on heads (read on green? ok….) and it is an awful ugly grind. As many have noted….

CONTRACTS 1, BUT BETTER.

However, the core gameplay is still pretty much the same. If you like C1, you will like C2 a lot. If you don’t like C1, well there is a high chance you won’t like C2 either.

2 years after SGW3, CI Games came back with SGW Contracts. Another 2 years, they give us Contracts 2. It’s a much more polished game this time around.

The improvements:

-Extreme long range sniping, their trademark selling point in this game. Now along with normal, classic low-medium range maps, the game will have extreme long range map which targets will usually be 1000m+ away. You can only see the enemies through your scope or binocular. These areas are especially made for long range sniping that you can’t not get in there no matter what you do. And of course, sniping at those long distance is very satisfying. If you want to make it even more challenging, use rifles with low magnification scope.

World of Guns: Gun Disassembly

World of Guns: Gun Disassembly

If you love puzzles, this is the game for you.

If you just love shooting things, this is probably not the game for you.

The basic premise of this game is simple… dissassemble and reassemble every kind of gun imaginable. From notable historic models, to modern military pieces, even a few vehicles, and some skeletons, this game has a lot to offer anyone who loves fiddling with intricate models, and looking at how things work.

It’s got a few negative quirks, though. As others have noted, the game is very unforgiving to those who don’t want to pay for microtransactions. If you’re just a casual player wanting to look at all the different models, expect to pay a lot.

This is the story on how this game saved me over $2,100 in repairs IRL.

I’ve been a firearm owner ever since I was a kid. My father bought me my first .22 rifle when I was twelve. After I became an adult and joined the US ARMY (11B) I got more serious about my collection. It was not until I started my own company and could start buying seriously expensive firearms that I really took off.

I ran into a dilemma a few months back. I had my Fully Automatic Browning M2 .50 and I could not get the charging handle to move all the way to the rear. I tried my best to ask around but nothing worked. I was about to throw in the towel and take it to my local gun smith when I remembered that World of guns existed. After going through the in-game play, I found out that it was a simple two-inch piece of metal that I had not put back in the proper place. After talking to the local gun smith. He told me that the repairs would have cost me almost $2,100 because of how much time it would have taken him along with the peace being ordered.

Best weapon mechanics I’ve ever experienced in a VR game. A lot of you will be comparing this to H3VR, I played both of them, and thoroughly enjoyed them. I don’t care what anybody thinks, nothing simulates the weight, feel and kick of firing a weapon better than Gunworld. It can feel a little clunky because it really tries to simulate the weight of carrying a weapon, and trust me, that shit is heavy IRL.

This is a pretty fun little shooter. huge selection of weapons and attachments. you can spend hours trying out all the weapons and just getting a feel for how each of them work. the interactions on each weapon is pretty cool, there’s so many of them. fire select, safety, load, unload, chambering, clearing, mag release, turning on and off attachments, down to even being able to individually load single rounds into a mag or chamber. the physics feel good and the SFX arnt too bad at all.

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades

Just noticed I never actually reviewed this fantastic game

To keep it basic: If you’re looking for a very detailed and lovingly crafted VR deep-dive into guns, their mechanics and how they work on particularly meaty (and sausage shaped) targets, then this game is for you. It might sound cheesy, but H3VR geniuenly taught me a lot of things about firearms, in an environment where you’re thankfully unable to actually hurt anyone (human that is, Hot-Dogs still get slaughtered)

So yeah, show Anton some love and get this game. Be it on the target-range, Take & Hold, Meat-Fortress or whatever wacky sidemode he introduces next, you’ll have a good time with it

Out of the minsicule amount of VR gun games I have played (which it’s like 2 idk), this is the best one I have played and consistently coming back to play it. The developer has been updating the game very often since its launch, and there are only more content from now on. Big props to the developer being so committed with this game and providing us with content for YEARS.

A lot of attention have been made so that each firearm (that are added) which the ones have unique quirks are also implemented in-game. The level of detail to each firearm is uncanny, and I find this game’s implementation of firearm mechanics is the most consistent and satisfying one out there.

Destructive Physics - Destruction Simulator

Destructive Physics - Destruction Simulator

Good, for people like me that love simple but high effort and dedicated work destruction sandbox game, maybe this game is the answer. The graphics are good, simple UI, free to do anything with no restrictions, so

much tools, and good physics. The other thing this game need is maybe more materials like string, wood planks, iron, etc, and maybe different shape of materials and it can be rotated to any degree (not only 90 degree). And maybe more buildings, towers, and other structure. And maybe more variety of destroying tools. The only problem with this game is sometimes the debris on the ground are stuck on the map, physics with glass is rarely bugged. Oh, and i recommend you to make the steam workshop of this game. I’m sure if you add it, the players of this game will go crazy.

Real player with 127.1 hrs in game

I always loved games like these, you just have control to absolutely destroy everything, I’m only recommending this however because the game I see has a lot of potential to become something bigger to be worth the 20$ price tag.

This game right now does not offer a lot, especially structures, im surprised they dont have a workshop, but hopefully they plan on that. I can definitely understand from a developers perspective that its hard to optimize a game to support desctrutive properties at a resonable framerate, which is why structures to destroy arent very big at the moment. which is the biggest problem i have with the game so far.

(IMPORTANT)

the game is not done and will never be done.

My opinion about this game…

this game is a realistic building of weapons game I’ve played it now for three hours and I’m still not bored

the reason why is because you can still make better weapons every time.

but the thing what I don’t like is that you can’t pick a another begining loop that means that you can’t build a pistol or something. but I’d like to see a sort of carreer and you get your money by people that order a special gun something like that and not the money with shooting in the shooting range.

This “game” is a steaming pile of shit.

I bought this game about 19 days after it released, from the trailers and screenshots i thought i was getting a decent game with an alright amount of content for the price, But when i finally launched the game i realised that the trailers had shown me everything the “game” had to offer. After having forgotten about this pile of elephant excrement for 5 years i came back earlier to see that the developer had abandoned this game for 4 FUCKING YEARS. Like an untrained surgeon trying to save a 4 year dead patient, he came back in 2019 to release very basic low effort updates to try and revive this long dead “game”. Not only this, but when he finally added some “New Content” he released it as dlc.
