Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam

It’s not just any random Vietnam battleground. No, it’s groups of people that have been in Vietnam way too damn long to realize what they are doing, shooting at each other with rusty-ass guns held together with bandages and duct tape. Squads are forced to stay close together lest the loners and stragglers are descended upon like starving guard dogs leaping upon a man made out of delicious smoked ham. Rock n' roll blared from radios attached to all vehicles will ensure that, at least once in your life, Creedence Clearwater Revival is the last thing you hear as your body is crushed underneath the tank treads. Every fucking reference to a Vietnam war movie IS IN HERE - AND YES, THIS MEANS YOU TOO CAN BLARE RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES AS YOU GUN DOWN THE VIETNAMESE FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR HUEY HELICOPTER, MARTIN SHEEN, YOU CAN BE MARTIN SHEEN YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE, IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

The Vietnam War was a Cold War military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. This war followed the First Indochina War and was fought between North Vietnam, and the government of South Vietnam. With the assistance of the US and other anti-commie contries. The Viet Cong, a lightly armed South Vietnamese communist-controlled common front, largely fought a guerrilla war against anti-communist forces in the region.

Battlefield Vietnam is an addon to the award winning Battlefield Bad Company 2. The game takes place during the Vietnam Conflict and is a spin off the the original Battlefield Vietnam. The gameplay is the same as BC2 but its still very good. They have improved helicopter controls and BC2:V has of the era weapons. Over all its a very good expansion and I give it a 9/10

No matter who wins or loses a war there is always pain left behind -for the victor, the vanquished, and even for those who try to remain neutral. Set in the War of 1812, Over The Hills And Far Away tells the story of a soldier and a little girl on the run in a harsh and unforgiving world. This game is a kinetic visual novel, meaning there are no choices to be made, the entire experience is reading. While this may not be everyone’s cup of tea the story itself is very much worth it as this is an engrossing piece of historical fiction.

This is an old but fun game, it’s the first WW2 RTS that I’ve ever played where you start of the beginning of the war (1/09/1939) and playing as the German side, it is also good that you have the different factions to play as and of course you can choose which order you play them in, but I think playing them in the order presented (1, 2, 3) is best. While this game is fun there are some flaws.

First the Pros

You can capture enemy vehicles and use them on their former masters

Flamethrower troops are great enmasse for heating up tanks till the enemy crew are forced to bail out and you can use your own tank crew to capture and use that vehicle (great if its a better tank than you have).

This is an old but fun game, which follows on from its predecessor, this time the fighting takes place in North Africa, Italy and the former Yugoslavia, the story is also pretty good and like its predecessor it’s best to play the factions of this game in the order presented, (Axis, Allies, Partisans). There have been some improvements but a lot remains similar to the original.

First the Pros

Graphics have improved over the original and the old colour film real type cutscenes is a nice touch.

Some missions take place at night and you can toggle vehicle headlights on and off to increase your view range which is a nice touch.

This game is basicly a DLC of phase one. Virtually everything is the same (game mechanics, graphics, …), just new missions. It is quite a bit shorter than Phase one as well with +-20 missions (compared to about 30 in P1). As it is virtually the same as Phase one, you’ll enjoy this one if you enjoyed the first one as well, like I did and do.

If you haven’t played Phase one, just buy that one instead.

To start off I absolutely love the physical boardgame and play it often which had me looking forward to this game.

Logging into this as soon as it went live was disheartening from the get go as you are confronted with a menu screen that looks like it could have been ripped from an old newgrounds flash game. While it is visually appalling the real problems start once you attempt to play it.

Cons:

-out of an attempted 12 multiplayer games that I hosted 9 froze during the first god’s gift phase, one froze during the second age god’s gift phase, and another froze as soon as the last province was pillaged in the 3rd age, leaving me with only one multiplayer game that was able to be played through fully.(Don’t comment on your lack of frozen games if you are only playing single player, multiplayer functionality is near nonexistant.)

First of all, I have the board game with a few expansions. And joined the kickstarter, so I’m actually a backer of this digital project.

-The beta period lasted for 3 weeks. Finished right at the beginning of the lockdown.

-The project was then abandoned till the Ankh kickstarter finished. We did not have any news for months, but 24h after the Ankh kickstarter finished, we got news.

-This digital Blood rage was expected to be released in December 2019. It’s been almost 6 months.

-The game was launched on May 27th and everyone got access but we - the backers - had to wait for hours to get access.

CPCW is an acceptable good Tactic-Strategy game. In my Opinion a good game to play on rainy weekends with a nice cup of coffee. Details:

Graphics - 8/10

The ingame graphic is awesome detailed. Enviroment looks close steps to realistic, nicely done with much love to detalis. Also the realistic reactions are nice to look at (example: Weather / grenade in forest burns trees down / ramming electricity pylons make’em flash and fall / after some gaming time the night comes and the tanks use activate headlights,….)

While it is a tad different compared to the previous installations from the series it still is a very good game worth playing.

It has kept some elements from the previous games but it feels more like Company of Heroes which is not at all a bad thing. It is still squad heavily squad based with infantry having different variations to a squad as opposed to specific squad for example the regular SMG squad can be a Bazooka Squad or a Mortar Squad as well, Ranger MG Squad can be Bazooka and Flamethrower Squad as well. Tanks feel a little better now in terms of armor and the impact of the shells as well and no longer occupy double their model size. They also have field / headquarters upgrades that you can buy with Prestiege, the in game currency which you get from completing objectives, upgrades like armor skirts, better guns, AA defense, etc.

Lost Horizon

Lost Horizon

This is a real hidden gem of a traditional point and click adventure. On seeing the title screen it becomes obvious how much care has gone into every aspect of this game.

The plot and cinematic style of Lost Horizon are a homage to adventure films of an ‘Indiana Jones’ type. It’s all about a reluctant hero saving the world from Nazis who are after powerful mystical secrets and has everything you’d expect: biplane fights, secret mystical locations all over the world, ridiculous car chases and cutscenes of implausible fights on Nazi trucks. Oh, of course, the spunky irritating sidekick/love interest - I suppose nothing’s perfect.

This game was great. Pure and simple.

This is my first review, so i’ll keep it short(ish).

I struggle to find anything wrong with this game, but if I were to point at one thing it would be that some of the cinema-scenes were a bit long. Sometimes it felt as if you were watching the game rather than playing it.

That said I really enjoyed this. The puzzles were good (and I have played alot of point and click) and they did not feel to repetitive. They were also challenging but not over hard. Every time I got stuck I just had to rethink the situation, and usually the solution would present itself. I’m not proud to say this but I have a tendensy to use walkthroughs whenever I get stuck for too long. I only did that once here and that turned out to be a puzzle that used color. I’m colorblind so that does’nt really count….

Valiant Hearts: The Great War™ / Soldats Inconnus : Mémoires de la Grande Guerre™

Valiant Hearts: The Great War™ / Soldats Inconnus : Mémoires de la Grande Guerre™

One of the best all around adventure story games released in the last few years. A mix of a beautifully composed musical score, stellar artwork, great story, impressive puzzles, and real life historical content. This game actually made me think about the collectibles and ponder the historical facts as much as I did the story at times.

Set during World War I (The Great War), Valiant Hearts gives you a look at individuals in war and how this particular group of individuals finds themselves connected. A German man married to a French woman who is forced to go back to Germany and fight. His father-in-law forced to fight for France. An American who befriends the Frenchman. A female doctor that finds herself crossing paths with all of them. Then there is Walt, the war dog, who becomes their ally, friend, and savior at times. While they all may battle for different reasons, countries, or leaders, they all care for one another. They all find ways to help one another overcome struggles, support one another in troubles, and connect to one another as humans rather than enemies.

It seems only natural that since we are in the midst of the centennial anniversary of the war that was to end all wars, a game should be released. In the gaming world, it seems that almost every war has been covered. Sadly, little to no recognition has been given to the war that launched the world into the modern age and changed how we live today. Valiant Hearts proves to be one of the first games to give a great picture of the struggles of World War I as well as a satisfying gaming experience.

In Valiant Hearts, we follow the stories of five heroes: Emile, a Frenchman; Hans, Emile’s son-in-law who is deported from France because of his German origins; Freddie, an American who volunteers and fights alongside the French in his quest for revenge; Anna, a nurse searching for her father in Belgium; and Walt, a German first aid dog that comes across the path of each of these heroes and helps any way he can. While it may seem highly coincidential how these five individuals continually come across each other’s paths, their backgrounds and motivations are very believable. The friendships that they build are genuine and felt by the players, without dialogue. Most conversations in this game are done by comic book bubbles and short distinct phrases that are spoken by the characters.

Age of Space

Age of Space

Age of Space offers a unique experience combining real time resource management and tactical combat in 3D. Step into the shoes of an interplanetary mercenary balancing on a knife-edge between the established might of the United Earth Alliance and the rag-tag band of Martian rebels. Grow your power as you fight for either side in the battle for control of the solar system.

Mining outpost

Build and expand upon your mining outpost as you gather resources in real time. Unlock new and unknown technologies salvaged from the wreckage of your enemies. Customize and build massive warships from your shipyard. Nudge the balance of war by accepting missions from your star map, fight pirates for fame and riches or become an outlaw yourself…

Ship Customization

All spaceships come in different sizes and fill different roles and purposes. All spaceships have unique bonuses that you should exploit in order to get the most out of your ship. A spaceship has a set of properties and three different sets of hardpoints where you can install modules and weapons:

  • Passive modules boost primary attributes of the ships.

  • Active modules are your backline of weapons and modules that are available all of the time

  • Tactical modules are impactful tactical weapons that can change the tide in any battle, but require high amounts of energy to use

Character Development

Evolve your four captains into becoming commanders of massive capital ships. As they gain experience they will be able to pilot increasingly advanced spaceships ranging from tactical cruisers to motherships.

Combat

Put yourself and your crew to the test in instance-based combat scenarios. Design your fleet, execute your strategy and profit. Manoeuver your spaceship in 3 dimensions from a 3rd person perspective. The rest of your fleet will either be controlled by AI, your friends or a combination of both. There will be different types of contracts to choose from:

  • Storyline missions

  • Side missions

  • Mining operations

  • Piracy operations

Co-op

Play any contract (except a few solo missions) together with up to three friends.
