Notch - The Innocent LunA: Eclipsed SinnerS
Notch - The Innocent LunA: Eclipsed SinnerS is the first Angels Blue novel published on Steam, and a fairly solid entry at that. Despite being clearly inspired by Higurashi When They Cry, the intriguing story, imaginative ideas and gorgeous artwork make up for a somewhat shaky translation.
The story opens with Yuhito Asakawa trapped in a dream-like world filled with death and horror. He discovers his childhood sweetheart amidst the mayhem and attempts to escape together, only to end up lost and alone before he awakens from what was only a nightmare. He soon realizes that the nightmare may not have ended as young, mutilated girls begin appearing throughout town. Determined to catch the murderer, his pursuit will lead him on a nightmarish journey that will change his understanding of the peaceful world he’s always known.

Memories are so vulnerable in the face of cruel reality. What is goodness? What is evil? What is love? What is hatred? Your world has become an inverted image in my dream…
Notch - The Innocent LunA: Eclipsed SinnerS is a Chinese Visual Novel that tells the tales of broken forms, iron wills and unbearable truths. Through my many experiences with either emotional, philosophical or psychological narrations in visual novels, I’ve rarely felt thoroughly shaken until this one little tale of loss and misunderstanding…

ASTRAL
You play a young boy with a large head who breaks out of some sort of research facility to explore a world which has gone to pieces. Shown mostly in black and white with odd splashes of colour, you venture across the city to an underground bunker where you discover your true destiny. Along the way you’ll encounter and be chased by horrifying enemies, solve the occasional jumping puzzle, and best of all, occasionally wear a mind-control helmet which lets you take control of other beings and make them do your whim in order to progress further. The environment flows naturally from one location to the next, with the joins being very smooth and gradual. The physics engine is top notch, and you never feel like you missed a jump because the game wasn’t reading your controls correctly. The camera is very dynamic, and your character moves in and out of the scenery following the curves of the land in a pleasant way, giving the world more depth rather than just “run right”. Everything is explained through “show don’t tell” and the lack of voice acting makes the game that much more atmospheric.

I just cannot recommend this game, it’s terrible; sometimes you’ll spend a minute walking on direction, sometimes you’ll spend five minutes getting past a certain bit then have to go all the way back when you die, you may decide to have a break and when you reload the game find you have to do the previous ten-fifteen minutes to get back to where you are because the chapter system is broken, this game is not enjoyable and for the price not even worth it, play black the fall, inside and limbo if you enjoy these types of games.

Candice DeBébé’s Incredibly Trick Lifestyle
Ahh, Candice Debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle. Has been a long time my darling! How have you bee- dies
Candice debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle is a very peculiar horror game. It has a unique setting, interesting and terrifying Monsters, and some hilarious bugs and glitches to expl- wait, oh ♥♥♥♥, they fixed those.♥♥♥♥♥♥
What is Candice Debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle?
Candice debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle is an indie horror game. It follows the player waking up in a very cramped room on either the upper decks or the lower decks of an abandoned cargo ship. You must find the equipment required to repair one of the three escape routes and get off the ship. There’s just one problem. You’re not alone.

Somehow manages to be genuinely entertaining and one of the few games I’ve ever 100%.
Things to note:
Everything is in character. Store page, community discussions posts by the dev, every line of dialogue/piece of music. I don’t understand why you would do this to yourself and it makes everything so much better to be bewildered by a dev who can obviously pull off something decent (and this game shows it, especially with some of the puzzles) but instead puts out candice debebe.
Main draw is the music. It has no reason to end up being decent 75% of the time. Both games end up having at least one or two tracks that are genuinely really good and I hate that I know lyrics by now.

Soda Drinker Pro
This is the single greatest video game I have ever played.
This is NOT just a video game, it is an experience and has impacted my lifestyle for the better. Previously I would only play multiplayer games with my friends but ever since I’ve played this game, I’ve abandoned all of them. I don’t need any of them to enjoy this. Every level is a completely new experience, and I don’t know where my life would be without it. Every moment that I’m not playing this game is a moment wasted.

I’m not quite sure how to feel about this game. In terms of the base game, Soda Drinker Pro, it got a bit of amusement out of me. I even played about half the levels before deciding that was all I was going to get out of it. The weird music in the background accompanied by the strange comments continued to crack me up even as I was in some of the last levels I played. But the majority of the time I spent in this game wasn’t in Soda Drinker Pro. The “hidden game” is what I found interesting, but it’s hard to actually recommend it to someone else. I personally find discovering the logic in the initial chaos of starting it interesting, and seeing all the puzzle pieces come together as you find out what you’re supposed to be doing and how to do it was exciting, to me at least. However, I can’t say that the game is very good. Pretty much the only thing that kept me going was the question of what weird things I would see next. The gameplay can be floaty, loose, and confusing. But if you’re like me and enjoy seeing all this weird stuff just for the sake of seeing it, I would recommend this game. Or, you know, you could buy it for the memes.

Asemblance
See written review below or watch it here: https://youtu.be/3L7ndJOulP0
THIS IS A MIXED REVIEW! TL;DR: SKIP TO CONCLUSION!
Asemblance is a first-person, psychological thriller that uses environmental puzzles to progress through the story.
The game takes place inside of a memory simulating machine, and you have no recollection about why you entered or how to get out. The experience is a bit of a mind bending one; I really like the concept of the memory machine, and having to learn about things with no idea of what is really going on. The gameplay is mostly walking around, zooming in on objects, reading documents for more information, and searching for your next objective.

I rarely write reviews, and even more rarely do I write negative ones, but I feel like I need to put my opinion out there.
The thing is, there’s a lot of potential to this game. It’s atmospheric, the narrative (such as there is) is well constructed and implemented, there are plenty of intriguing elements. But there’s just nothing of substance in the gameplay. There are no real puzzles, no real mysteries to solve or challenges to overcome. There’s plenty of information to be gleaned from a diligent exploration of the game’s tiny play area, but progress (again, such as there is) depends either on interacting with the incredibly obvious interactable objects or on incredibly obtuse and specific actions, neither of which create any sense of satisfaction.

I got this game as an impulse buy at 2 am while talking to my friend on discord and man I don’t regret it. After multiple months and around 135 hours, I have gotten every achievement and I loved playing every second of this game. For an RPG maker based game it has such impeccable charm, the characters were lovable, and the story was great. I really did go into this game blind and that’s what I recommend everyone do. The story had a bit a bit of a slow start, but it was such an experience to see it unfold at the end and watch all the pieces of the puzzle come together. If you are thinking of buying this, do, you will not regret it.

The House in Fata Morgana
Full review (including score):
Written review below!
The rundown:
Pros:
-
Unique art style
-
Great use of atmosphere
-
Excellent storyline
-
God-tier soundtrack
Cons:
-
Rough first few chapters
-
Lossy soundtrack compression
The House in Fata Morgana proved to be quite the journey for me. It took me nearly three months of on-and-off playing to finally clear, but in the end, it was totally worth it. Not only does the game provide an excellent story with a great sense of atmosphere, but it also does so with a unique art style and a soundtrack that quickly became one of my favorites.

Introduction
The House in Fata Morgana was an incredible surprise for me, as visuals novel are not something I would actively seek to play. However, this game is the one that might change my mind, and I definitely want to play more similar games like that in the future. The game’s story is amazingly written and has several interesting characters and thrilling plots, accompanied by an astonishing soundtrack and a beautiful art style.
Story
At the start, you wake up at a mysterious mansion with no memory of yourself whatsoever. However, you are not alone here. A woman, who calls herself The Maid, claims you should know each other, as you have been here before. In pursuit of regaining your memory, you follow The Maid through the mansion, where you witness multiple tragedies that happened to its previous residents throughout the years. What secrets do their stories hide? Why are you connected to this place? That is something you need to discover by yourself.

Lorelai
I am so sorry, but I have to do this. I have to be cruel to be kind.
I… felt so much thing while I was playing The Cat Lady and Downfall. Their subtext were full of our fears, sadness, despair and hope. So I WAS sure that “Lorelai will also touch our souls, like its predecessors”. Thus, I expected a strong final story for Devil Came Through Here trilogy. I’ve waited Lorelai for approximately 2 years, since I’ve learned that it’s release date is 2019. At the end of the day, it is just a frustration, a disappointment for me.

Lorelai isn’t The Cat Lady. It’s not Downfall either. That’s a good thing. But there are aspects in its storytelling that feel lacking and rooted in the past, and that unfortunately holds it back from being as emotional as it could be. Even so, the game is absolutely gorgeous to look at and is accompanied by micAmic’s best soundtrack to date, either of which is reason enough to play through and experience this final chapter in the “Devil Came Through Here” Trilogy.

The Succubi Trap

‘REVIEW KEY PROVIDED BY DEVS’
Re-Review:
The Succubi Trap is a maze game with dark elements. The character you play as weilds a sword to be able to protect themselves against the single enemy of the game, the flying demon thing. The player can swing the sword, do a forward jab, dodge (which also has an exploit) and cut themselves to spill blood on the ground to mark the ground with where you’ve been which also becomes marked on the minimap even though the map marking is ridiculously hard to see.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch. 5 Meakashi
Review originally posted here.
10/10
All of Higurashi is good, but Meakashi is when it gets really good.
The fifth arc of the eight-arc visual novel series marks the transition from the first half’s ‘question’ arcs to the second half’s ‘answer’ arcs. It starts off with a bang, placing the reader in Shion Sonozaki’s shoes rather than the previous protagonist, Keiichi Maebara. The game starts off a year before the first three arcs do, and then continues on to follow the plot of the second arc up until its conclusion, all from Shion’s perspective.

Ch. 5 Meakashi definitely lives up to the quality of the first Higurashi chapter, Onikakushi– freaking finally– bringing the Higurashi series back into the interesting, mysterious, and suspenseful (near) perfection it so desperately needed to re-accomplish. I’ll be honest, I was really losing faith in this series, but Meakashi has restored (most) of my previous uncertainties and misgivings. I am now once again hopeful, crossing my fingers as we continue to get answers.
So here are all the GREAT things about Meakashi:
