Chess’Extra
Tried it out with a friend of mine, it isn’t very well made but gets the job done.
UI could use improvement, sounds could be introduced properly.
It’s free, but it’s a mixed bag. Leaving as “Not Recommended” since there are better versions for free or paid on Steam and on the Web.

Frontier of Fortune
fun enough game thats simple and straight forward, and very repeatative. There’s a single means of controling the battle, a slider. unfortunately it’s of limited use once troops start fighting as even if you’re fighting at the enemy’s gates and then disengage a good portion of your troops will continue to fight the enemy, and even those who have disengaged will often immediately rush back towards the enemy once they reach the point you’ve set, compounding how horrible this is is the fact that your troops won’t fall back all at once and instead will go back is in clumps of 2-4. additionally spawning in more troops happens in a similar manner, resulting in frequent situations where player troops are picked off piecemeal.

Unending War: Grand-Strategy Chess
Game inconsistently gets stuck as the computer doesn’t take it’s turn in the chess battles. There is no way to then proceed, other than killing the program from the task manager. I’m hoping the dev gets back to me about this in my discussion thread, because the game is a neat twist on chess that I enjoyed playing more than the AI apparently did.

Awesome new look at chess with a “grand campaign” map. The chess board itself is tactical in nature as different tiles yield bonuses to units. Definitely worth a look for chess fans.

Frontline: Panzer Blitzkrieg!
Simple little simulation. NOT going to test an Avalon Hill fan. Wait for it to be on sale, as it has no scenario designer so you only get what it comes with. Limited replayability. A few minor glitches where the game wont let you attack or even move into a grid that you should be able to. So sometimes, you cant eliminate an enemy unit.

just got the 4 game bundle was looking for a break from high stress turn base games the bigger devs make .
wow was this a surprise a lot is packed into the game some is not , so will not be for everyone .
but looking for a good shot out game with minimal supply planning this can be it .
One thing I like is no max turns just objectives But you have to keep going since you will run out of supply but collecting objectives or Parachute drops gets you more . I played on normal and a few battles had to restart .

Lorenzo il Magnifico
I will freely admit that Lorenzo is a favorite board game. In Pre-Covid times I would beg my game group to bring it to the table. While this implementation of the game digitally had a rocky start, it’s now settled in as an elegant rendition of a very complicated game. In particular, the AI is finally modestly competitive…but very modestly… I play this game most often after a loss on Yukata or BGA…because it soothes my ego to have a reliable victory.
But the real reason for my “yes” recommendation is that I live in hope of finding a live human being to play this with. For months, I’ve hit the lobby at various times of day in the vain hope of finding a game I can join. So ] far just crickets. I just know I can’t be the only person who bought this game. I figure if I write a review, maybe someone will tell me where you’re all hiding.

A nice digital adaptation of a great boardgame. If you’re not familiar with the actual boardgame you will have to follow the complete tutorial and then still have some trial and errors (the tutorial lacks a bit in dept concerning strategie, unless you want to read a lot of text in the glossary), but looking for great ways to score and learning to improve your game is actually something that makes this game a hidden jewel.
In a game of Lorenzo il Magnifico you will try to earn points by gaining buildings, assets, … (the parts shown in the big building on the right) and by gaining papal approvement (this is not obligated, but failing the pope gives you some kind of penalty).

Merge Chess
Merge Chess is a brand new approach to Chess! Blending the strategy of the ancient game of Chess with simple puzzle game mechanics.
Use the mouse, keyboard of game pad to shift the board pieces in any direction. Same pieces of opposite colours that touch will be merged.
Keep merging to take more and more pieces, progressing from Pawn to King. A new piece will spawn every time you move without merging. Be careful not to fill up the board with pieces! The aim of the game is to be left with only one King in the shortest possible number of moves.
Victory and Glory: Napoleon
Wow what a great game. Don’t let the simple-looking interface fool you - this is hours and hours of fun and is as thoughtful a period grand-strategic simulation as you’ll find. It beautifully captures the military, naval, geopolitical and international dynamics of Napoleonic history like no other game I’ve played.
The game effectively balances the military prowess of France against the political power of England and Europe’s balance-of-power politics. France’s armies are great and you will win battles, but England is always on a mission to build a new coalition to oppose you. And if you think you will just blitzkrieg Europe to conquest you will be frustrated by the major powers just as quickly alligning to take you down - thoughtless military aggression will lead you to your own personal Waterloo. Instead, careful strategum, divide-and-conquer politics, and opportunistic empire and kingdom building will be your path to Victory.

One day in 1804 Napoleon stood before his French Grand Army admiring their increased combat ratings which came as a result of several years of hard fighting.
The always outnumbered French earned their battle scars first by fighting the Austrians in a desperate struggle for Northern Italy, which ended in defeat.
By the time the Austrians were relishing in over running several provinces in Italy along with the single French units stationed there.
Egypt was lost and now Italy.
Only a small army guarded Paris which was both poorly led and ill trained.

First, let me say that I dig the game, and I like that it is put together from a lot of open source / royalty free resources. I have enjoyed playing against my old pal GNU Go, and I particularly like the review portion after games are completed where I can see key moves the computer would have suggested, which has helped me get a better sense of advantageous moves under different circumstances. The approach of the campaign as being a literal conquest for territory is also really cool. However, it doesn’t feel particularly polished at this stage. I would like to see more of a story, perhaps some Go puzzle mini games in between matches. A larger map would be nice too, and it might be cool to have a zoom-out view of the ‘world’ that shows conquered regions as an actual game of Go, but that might be wishful thinking on my part. Finally, its a little nit-picky, but after matches, I feel the resource icons are too small, and sometimes I miss them. Other uses for resources might be worth exploring as well.
