The Adventure of Magical Girl

The Adventure of Magical Girl

The Adventure of Magical Girl is a pleasant JRPG/RPGMaker game, providing several hours of gameplay and entertainment.

It has a cute story and it’s not very hard to beat.

Achievements are quite easy to unlock too.

It looks like a sequel to The legend of Bean though it’s not necessary to have completed that previous game to fully enjoy The Adventure of Magical Girl. However, both games use the same world and map so it’s a bit easier when you’ve already completed The legend of Bean because you’re already accustomed to that universe.

The good:

1- This is a short RPG maker game. - I don’t mean it is bad because of this -.

2- Some parts of the game are polished well: for example the animation during battles.

3- no random encounters. You only fight an enmy when you collide with it - which i think is good -.

The bad:

4- Sadly it seems it suffers from the same problem that many other rpg maker games have: the game is not balanced. I mean you could quickly level up and breeze through the game and care not for any strategy while fighting.

Dude, this is so cutting!

I had so much fun playing this game. Well, that’s not quite a surprise to me, seeing as I was already predisposed to like it as soon as I read the description: “90s outcast movies” quirky, but oh so human, supernatural characters, “a dark coming-of-age story” against the backdrop of looming apocalypse, comicbook style visuals…But beyond that initial hook of 90s nostalgia, loads of pop culture references and familiar tropes I found much more - a careful look at depression, loneliness and alienation, being stuck in a loop with no exit, themes of free will vs destiny, choices and responsibility, and a central heartwarming relationship between two unlikely protagonists.

I’m not really one for visual novels, but this game has really changed my mind. It was recommended by a friend, and found it amazing with the ton of pop culture references in the dialogue and backgrounds. Simply amazed that this was all done by one guy. It does have some deep themes, but is well paced with its sense of humour. Also loving the art style, its unique and refreshing from the typical anime style. The intro/tutorial has also got to be the most interesting/different (in a good way) that I’ve seen in a long time in any game.

Brutal Legend

Brutal Legend

My rating: 7+/10

Based on: one 100% complete SP campaign on Brütal difficulty + MP boosting with a partner and solo grinding

Check out my other reviews

TL;DR: An homage to heavy metal and a peculiar, if mediocre blend of a 3rd person hack-and-slash with a sandbox world and RTS-lite mechanics. Excelling in art direction and soundtrack, but bogged down by the gameplay design choices and console controls, it can make you hum, finger drum and fist pump in a mosh-pit-like excitement or bang your head in gloomy frustration. Fun enough to play on your own, but the MP is pretty much dead without friends. Brutal, perhaps, metal, definitely, but not enough to rock my world.

Brütal Legend, a game about Jack Black being Jack Black in a fantasy world full of metal. Metal as in, the musical genre, and the element as well (since there are many metal-based things on this world!). Now, for a more serious introduction, Brütal Legend is an action-adventure game (of the hack and slash variety) mixed in with some slight RTS elements. While at first it might seem like an odd combination, actually makes a pretty entertaining game.

The story follows Eddie Riggs, a roadie for a metal band who, after a terrible accident, gets transported to a fantasy world inspired by heavy metal, with fantastic creatures, and an evil overlord attempting to dominate it. Along the way, Eddie discovers not only that he gets awesome powers through music, but meets up with many interesting characters, some of them based on real-life heavy metal legends (and even voiced by them). Even though I wouldn’t call metal one of my favourite genres, this game certainly manages to create an amazing world from it (and it actually made me enjoy metal a lot more!). Anyway, the main goal is to put a stop to Lord Doviculus' plans, who wishes to enslave humanity and dominate the world.

FINAL REVIEW: Well, I finally finished the game. And I must say that unfortunately neither the long post-Kickstarter development nor the playtime was worth the wait. Simply put, the story boils down to not much (HUGE SPOILER:

! a vague plot of aliens/gods messing with humans to create stories for their amusement), and the ending doesn’t give really satisfying answers, doesn’t use its source material particularly well, to the point of goofiness: (HUGE SPOILER:

! real Cthulu awakening just to rip apart a cheap imitation of himself, and going right back to sleep), and is mostly a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger without any particularly interesting thread to follow for a sequel.

Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure is a linear point & click game that takes you on a mostly-not-so-dark Lovecraftian adventure with what I would consider easy to moderate puzzles throughout. Where this game truly shines is the writing, the voice acting, the art, and the animation. It’s amazing that this is developed primarily by a small team of three people. Here, you are looking at a really high quality indie project that has been put together with the touches of love and passion on the part of the developers.

This game is truly one of the highest caliber visual-novels that I have read. It has a way of drawing you in with its attractive character designs and dragging you deeper into it’s intense character depth and lore. This game can only be compared to a game that I consider to be one of the greatest of all time, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. The deep gameplay and visual elements created an experience that was truly one of a kind. The subtle hints of romance between the character was not only seductive and alluring, but made me extremely horny. My journey through this masterpiece reminded me of why I started playing video games, to get lost in a world full of mystery of wonder, to have my boring life enriched by sexy anime vampire boys wanting to fuck me in my sleep, to have my titties titillated by the pure erotic fantasies that this game teases.

The Handler of Dragons

The Handler of Dragons

A solo dev’s attempt at ‘Two Worlds Two’…

Straight from the start, you gotta realize that this game is made by a solo developer, so no matter what, this game CAN’T be as good as other RPGs made by a team (or teams) of devs. So get the idea of this game being as good as others straight out of your mind. If you’re looking for ‘Oblivion’ or ‘Skyrim’ then look elsewhere.

Pros: #1. The graphics actually look very good, in a ‘Two Worlds Two’ kinda way

#2. Extremely fast load time from desktop to in-game (just like 8seconds)

From which way should I bite it to be honest… It’s so easy to bash a huge game for disproportionately bad designs, bugs and whatnot but then there are games like this - a one man’s passion project which is still smaller than what we receive these days under the “Indie” banner; but let’s give it a try!

At first glance it may seem like one of those pesky asset flip garbage games that offer nothing but stealing your money (I’m looking at you Dragon: The Game…and you’re one of many) however I’m glad to inform this is not the case here and I’m happy to see a project where store assets (credits do say many come from Epic Store) are actually put into a good use…but this intro is already 2 paragraphs too long ^^"
