Gil’s Lucid Dreams

Gil’s Lucid Dreams

Alt tab breaks the game, there are no saves, the visuals and audio gave me a headache, I just looked up an achievement guide so I can delete this and never think of it again. The only redeeming value is the hilarious broken English. Might be worth a “just chatting” stream but will only last 20 minutes or so. I spent more time simulating game play to unlock cards than I did actually playing it. Final warning: Do not buy if you value your sanity or time.

That is all.

You will probably need a real psychiatrist appointment after playing this game :).

Game description:

Like a doctor, you will need to try to take care of every patient that visits you, by understanding their issues through a Q&A system.

You will decide what to do with your patient - schedule a new appointment, decide if you will prescribe them meds or send them to the asylum - it’s up to you.

I honestly don’t know if I have been trolled or not with this game.. I would not buy this game.. It had potential, but I don’t know if this is a joke game or not.. I would like to note that I played through the full 14 days – if I’m going to review a game – I am going to play through the whole thing – it took 3 hours – 3 hours I will never get back – I am legit mad!

First and foremost I feel as though there should be trigger warnings in the loading screen – there are comments about telling a client to go kill themselves, there are real pictures of people who have cut themselves, some of the options that you are given as the psyche are really quite disturbing.. On the other hand of this – I guess it’s an alright tool to learn a little bit about mental health disorders and how it can affect people – I mean, these are very much exaggerated stories, and I guess these people are probably not acting like that out in the real world – but you learn a bit – I guess – trying to find some positivity here! I can see though, that research has been made when it comes to the diagnoses and the medication required to help the treatment of those diagnoses.. YES A PLUS! But even if you think you have the right stuff, people are apparently still going to kill themselves in the end – even the ones you put into the mental hospital..

Centralia: Homecoming

Centralia: Homecoming

Nice small horror game but it need some rework :

Nice atmosphere.

It remind of silent hill a bit.

Gameplay is OK.

Not too linear.

Game is not too easy (it’s even pretty hard).

Voice acting is not awesome but ambient sound and music is very good and stresfull.

We need to be able to change settings BEFORE you start a new game.

We need to be able to change keyboard settings too.

In inventory, the game should tell you that clicking on the ammo or the lock-picking tools

make them usable, because it look like you are selling it.

Transparency: I was involved in the development of this game, as the english voice actor for the main character.

That said, it’s not a great game, but it’s alright.

 1. It’s a pretty generic story, daughter missing, spooky town, progression through finding keys, etc.

 2. It has some fun moments. My original playthrough was the initial release, so ammo was scarce, and the weapon upgrades were not added yet. The updates made it a lot easier to progress by finding ammo and money in cabinets, and more power lets you rip through enemies.

Curator page here-- DaRevieweD 56 -- New review every Sunday

Genius Slackers debut is loosely based off a real-life tragedy where a neighbor of game director Arash, took his own life. The incident left family and friends lost for words as everything seemed fine with the victim. And to think I only got knee deep in research because curator connect offered it to me- otherwise I wouldn’t even realize I already possessed it from a previous sale XD. Granted, themes dealing with mental health are more widespread in video games. Though they tend to revolve around fictional premises (up for debate) such as in Town of Light, The Missing or Detention.

What Happened

After about seven hours of play I was asking myself the same thing so read the entire review.

I disliked this game when I started it – and yet, I kept playing. I wanted to know more, the art and stunning visuals kept me going. Stiles kept me playing.

The game opens with a teenager in high school dropping acid. Then he gets a swirly and is beaten up. So yes, the subject matter is very dark: suicide, bullying, depression, drugs. Just being a teenager is hard enough. Add all those things together and it is not going to be an easy comfortable play.

INVITATION

This game starts well but very rapidly runs into problems.

First floor is good nice and spooky with some good little effects.

Problem then starts on the second floor. Here you start to have problems with getting stuck in walls and being detected through the wall. Frankly I have seen free games that come with better graphics and none of the collision issues.

As a spooky adventure nice but as a survival game poor. Should have just stuck with the ghostly story.

Roots Of The Woods

Roots Of The Woods

The first episode of this Russian Brothers Grimm fairy-tale leaves much to be desired. It features two main characters - Trisha and Harland - as they navigate a strange anomalous post-apocalyptic world where the forest has become a dangerous place. However intriguing that plot may sound, Roots of the Woods lacks the atmosphere, characterization, and psychological ambition which grounds fear in a purpose in a point-and-click purpose.

The pervading tone or mood of the game is ominous. Harland is introduced as a thief who stumbles upon the pretense of a serious moral dilemma. Despite his bad English voice acting and translation, Harland has to choose whether to abandon a young child to a dead mother’s drug-infused crawlspace or take the child with her. The relationship that ensues between Harland and Trisha leaves no room for empathy for the characters during their dangerous odyssey through the forest.

At this point “Roots of the Woods” is more of a promise of a game that can be potentially good than a wholesome experience. At 1-hour playtime it is terribly short even for an episode, but with working on certain things and expanding on game’s attractive dark aesthetic this can ultimately be turned into an enjoyable horror adventure.

This is a point and click with muted, almost monochrome picture that is pleasing and works well for the overall story. Some visual emphasis when it comes to monsters would have made them stand out a bit more, but this muted simplicity does the job. It might just be the game’s best current asset.

Pulang Insanity - Director’s Cut

Pulang Insanity - Director’s Cut

I really don’t know if I recommend the game or not. The game is far from good, in fact there are many bugs and flaws that keep telling me to not recommend it. But, considering this a game from indie developer and Indonesian game, let’s just give it easy.

Not going to lie, I followed the development of the game since the greenlight trailer. Pulang: Insanity feels like if Silent Hill meet with Indonesian culture. It’s amazing, but not really. The game lacks of details. Body details (it feels weird seeing the crowbar or knife just flying in front of my camera; compared to Amnesia: TDD, that at least show some details of the player), environment, sound effects (no sound effect when you try to hit certain object, or corpses, etc), story (the storytelling is absurd), the bad font in document, the bad Indonesian grammar in the Indonesian version (sebagai gaame Indonesia, seharusnya ini diperhatikan dengan baik Ozysoft, karena jujur, tulisannya seperti diketik oleh anak SD), bad hitbox, and many more. The game also lacks of good optimization. It’s often I encountered FPS drop and crashes. I can go on and on about the flaws, but let’s talk about what I like about Pulang: Insanity.

this game has good graphic , good environment , good story as indonesian game .

i know this game is not 100% completed .

and also i know why people give some bad review for this game and they dont know how the process of this game , only review as common player who dont think anything about indie game

i hope developer notice this .

 • i wish this game is still continued until its full release with 100% story ( i doubt this is full story )

 • Someone , or almost people say its really expensive , yes thats right with only 2 hours gameplay , its really expensive , so i can give you solution …. finish this game with 100% story or you add price cut / discount for the game

The Alchemist’s House

The Alchemist’s House

This was one of those rare horror games I actually enjoyed. The artwork is gorgeous, something I don’t usually get to say in a horror title, but it takes it’s own visual style and runs with it. I don’t want to give too much away, but you are taken in by a creepy stranger. The choices you make matter, and make the wrong one, well…

I don’t know if it was timing and the game updated, by my first couple of plays the blue light did not speak. Overall, a fun horror title and it’s clear a lot of love went into it. Thanks for making such an awesome game, and for free to boot!

Well, this amateur dev certainly did the right thing by releasing her “game”/demo for free. And y’know, as such things go, it really ain’t so bad, so I’ll quickly get some of the quibbles out of the way…

The footstep sound effects: insanely unatmospheric. The character animation: ugly as sin. The voice acting: subtle as a sledgehammer on a baby’s skull. And the writing, well…I’ll be kind and not mention that at all.

Oh yeah, and for some strange reason you seem to be about three feet tall. (I don’t think I was meant to be a child. Was I meant to be a child?)

Deluded Mind

Deluded Mind

A solid, yet by the numbers psychological horror walking simulator revolving an FBI-agent, a tragic death, kidnappings, picking up notes and a hallucinogen. And, of course, a criminal. And a rather abrupt, modern cliché ending that doesn’t deliver, go figure.

While somewhat scratched by awkwardly forced voice-overs and stiff, “instructing” dialogue, Deluded Mind makes up for it by using randomly generated jump-scares in specific areas, which proves to be highly efficient and eerie, providing unpredictability and making you fear what may lurk around the next corner. The opening is slow and somewhat teasing in navigation; however, once the protagonist moves on to the next section, the atmosphere quickly alters by instilling dread and foreboding; unsettling soundscapes kick in on occasion, which greatly heighten the tension of a nightmare taking place. The sounds are surprisingly crisp and spooky, and visually the game certainly looks good and the everyday settings believable.

Real player with 7.4 hrs in game

I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to this type of game, and going in knowing it involved, one, a so-very-scary abandoned asylum, and two, hallucinations ala drugs, I wasn’t expected more than the average. Deluded Mind, however, WILL surprise and impress you. For an indie developer dropping their FIRST game with this I was even more amazed. Graphically it’s beautiful, with great atmosphere in spite of cliche, and play runs extremely smooth on PC or Steam Link (I used the latter with a control and Rii). But what makes it really interesting is how they found a way to make the yawnful setting choice ACTUALLY frightening. It has jump scares, sure, but they DO NOT come when you expect them. There is no reliance on stupid music to suggest they’re coming, and because the game keeps you in a constant state of uncertainty there really is no way to know exactly when they’re going to happen. Plus, they’re more in the distance and mere glimpses, which works something like a nightmare you can’t get out of your head after you wake up. Like that recent, idiotic film about demonic nuns, I wasn’t expecting anything that would actually scare me, but they did an EXCELLENT job of messing with the player. Scenes such as the one where you rely on a camera flash for temporary light, leave you NEVER certain what’s coming next. Really looking forward to more from this company, highly recommended.
