Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle
Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle is a first-person RPG with a horror theme that’s a sequel/spiritual successor to The 7th Circle - Endless Nightmare. Plot-wise there’s no connection between the two games–in the 7th Circle you played a man’s subconscious fighting his inner demons, and in Inferno you play a human survivor fighting literal demons who have all but conquered Earth.
It’s hard to review Inferno without comparing it to the 7th Circle because the two games are so similar. Both are first-person dungeon crawlers, and the basic gameplay of the two games are identical. Nearly all of the enemies are identical too. (there are only 7 or so new ones not counting palette swaps) If you liked one you’ll probably like the other, and vice versa. Where the games differ is that The 7th Circle was restricted to a single dungeon with 20-odd floors and had a permadeath/metaprogression mechanic; Inferno is more of a sprawling open world and abandons the permadeath model for a more traditional RPG.

Pros:
-Enjoyed character customization and the control given to me for said character growth.
-Enjoyed RNG rolls for gear.
-Enjoyed combo build up in combat.
-Enjoyed utilizing spells and status ailments for a varied combat experience.
-Enjoyed the 1st 2/3rd of the game in terms of difficulty.
-The setting is very unique and I feel it will likely become the new sensation as cyberpunk dies down.
-Enjoyed punching out demon lords and the duke of hell with my bare hands 10/10 would fist hell spawn again~

The 7th Circle - Endless Nightmare
This is a simple and straightforward but compelling first-person dungeon crawler RPG for fans of the genre with a horror aesthetic. The setting and plot are unique–you play as fragments of an insane man’s subconscious as he lies delirious in a pool of his own blood after a suicide attempt. Your goal is to fight his inner demons to unlock his repressed memories and discover what drove him to the edge.
The game has a great aesthetic and a fun improve-skills-as-you-use-them character building system, but what really sets it apart from other games of the genre is its permadeath/metaprogression mechanic. The 7th Circle is designed to be played in multiple runs, with each successive character getting a little stronger and/or inheriting perks and items from previous ones. It rewards experimentation with different builds and playstyles and there’s lots of well-designed dungeons to explore and content to find.

A rare instance of a VERY well made dungeon crawler game, this takes me way back to when I used to play Mordor: Depths of Dejenol with my father in the late 90s. The ‘Perma-death’ style to the game should NOT be a turnoff for anyone looking to play, as a matter of fact, death just makes you stronger in the long run, death also allows you to change your attributes, class, and an ‘alter ego’ buff to help carry over some perks through death.
Ive only got a few nit picky issues, such as not being able to sort out my inventory (maybe we can get some tyhpe of paper doll system to keep things organized), or having traps that ive defeated still being on the ground, but other than that, im loving this game

Pretty fun game that has different ways to play the game by using different magic abilities and such. I do wish that the environments were more open and fix some of the animation for different models like the axe throwing one, who does a little T-pose once he throws it. Other than that I’m enjoying it.

So Much Blood
So Much Blood shows the potential of being a good game. It’s certainly not a lemon by any means. However, the flaws in the game, both fundamental and game design choices, make it a game that only genre fanatics will enjoy. The mass appeal wears off very quickly especially because you are limited to horizontal shooting and the procedurally generated rooms are too repetitive. There is, however, so much blood.

The first time I started the game, the first thing that hit me is the music. The music is good. The game is addicting, I’ve played for one hour straight and didn’t stop. The levels or stages have different feels to them. All the bosses are fun to try to beat. (Then lose all the lives) When you die you don’t lose everything, (ex. points) whick makes it feel like every life lost has did somthing good for me. The shop is done extremely well. It’s easy to navigate.
The music gets old quickly but you can easily turn it off and play your own music. The level design is bland. However since the levels are randomly generated, there is always a new level every time you start a new game.

KATANA KAMI: A Way of the Samurai Story
I got this game going in with the mindset that I’m going to get the WOTS experience. I was definitely proved wrong, but that wasn’t a bad thing.
The story was simple enough. Go through dungeon, collect loot to make swords, make swords to sell to pay off debt. You do this for quite a while and I was honestly confused if anything was going to change. I can’t say what happens after you pay off the debt (spoilers).
PROS:
- WOTS universe. The weird whackiness from the series continues with the vulgar grunts and the comical iconic characters.

Katana Kami is a dungeon crawler version of the Way of the Samurai series. You will be going through consecutive dungeons to earn money and pay the debt to free Dojima’s daughter. Compared to the original series where you mainly fought humans, instead you will be fighting wild beasts, skeletons, and japanese demons.
This game takes place during the events of the first Way of the Samurai game. In the first game, two gangs are competing for territory while the citizens of Rokutsu Pass get caught in the crossfire. In the original Way of the Samurai game (for PS2), your decisions affect both sides and you get a different ending depending on the decisions you made.

To The Light
Quite simple 2D (RPGMaker?) RPG without leveling and with real time fights right on the map. In order to progress you have to collect gear and buffs. Be careful with item buffs because they are NOT infinite in uses and you may lose them permanently. You can use them again to temporary disable. For example, you may want to disable items when breaking large rotating crystals since they will explode, harm you and break a few buff items. And you have to break at least some of these to progress. Probably the most important buff is shield since I haven’t found where yo restock it and it opens paths blocked with spikes. A couple of secrets, a few easter eggs and multiple endings… well, kinda. You just either do everything right or end up with a wrong one. Don’t rush collecting all quantum piece, though, or you won’t be able to get 2 achievements for the wrong endings. Save often in different slots and you should be fine. Music is nice, art is pretty, story is bizarre and shown mostly with environment and short in-game animations. In case you desire more kinky stuff install both nude patches (look on community hub). Does it actually worth a full price? Not quite sure, but it ain’t bad. With good discount might worth to pick up.

This game could have been much better if it did not give conflicting information to the player.
For example some enemies you could hit, while others you can’t and you get hurt when you attack them. There is no indication that could help you identify this, so you have to experiment and lose lifes and restart or load again.
Another example is that some rocks could hurt you when you try to push them or hit them, while others don’t. Again how would the player know? many other example exists but I think these two gives a clear idea.

Saviors of Sapphire Wings / Stranger of Sword City Revisited
Seeing such negative reviews for a game and genre I really love is always a little disappointing, but in the end, you get used to it with this genre. It’s certainly not for everyone, and the reviews tend to show that. In this case, though, I think “mixed” may be about right for it. Both games are plagued by technical issues that, while they can be overcome, shouldn’t be there for the kind of game this is, though I do I think the games themselves are worth playing beyond that (And, if you’re a fan of either Experience Inc. Games or just DRPGS in general, you will love what you get here).

I loved the orgininal Stranger of Sword City and was really excited to finally get this “revisited” version. I mostly bought it for the SoSC game but the Saviors of Sapphrie Wings also looks interesting. I havent played much from it so I will focus on Stranger of Sword City in my review.
SoSC was my first Dungeon Crawler and if I am asked if I feel remorse for buying it the answer is a clearly :NO. I love and hate this game at the same time.
- Story: I just love it. It starts mysertious and keeps this feeling/vibe up till the end.

Soul Scathe
Just spent a good hour on this last night fighting through the dungeons and i am really enjoying it so far. So there are some bugs as its in early access but the developer is extremely reactive to feedback and constantly updating. The combat feels very satisfying - its how you combine magic with melee and the environment! Overall i am looking forward to spending more time here! Playing this game on the Oculus Quest ( via Link)…the dark depths look great on the LED screens!
(update) So i have now spent 6 hours on this game and really enjoying the combat - love the lightening and electrical bolt ( electric slingshot), now have the axe and can decapitate my enemies…great fun!

For a single dev game, Soul Scathe is quite impressive. I started playing this game close to when it first came out and the combat system and over all polish of the game has improved substantially. The game also provides a satisfying upgrade system. You collect gold and continue to level up as you make your way through the dungeons. You can allocate points toward different attributes choosing where to put your strengths. You can buy new weapons, spells, or potions with the gold you collect. As for the negative reviews mentioning the game being dead, the 2nd chapter was just released with new levels, enemies, and a new boss (I assume). The developer is also really responsive and addresses bugs, questions, etc.
