Golf Peaks

Golf Peaks

(edited to mention world 10 with 12 new levels.)

an excellent puzzle game where you’re given a bunch of cards representing various movement options (number of squares, swing type), and not surprisingly in a golf-themed game, your goal is to lead the ball to the hole. beautiful visuals, music that doesn’t get on your nerves after 5 minutes (except in world 7), separate volume settings, unlimited undo, and post-release support with additional levels, mechanics and music.

Good casual puzzle game

This is definitely one of the easier puzzle games I’ve played, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t well-designed. The mechanics, while not groundbreaking (it is a golf-themed game), are interesting enough and fairly well-executed. I really liked the ‘shot card system’. You start with a fixed hand of cards for each level, each card representing a type of shot (length of shot, chip/ straight shot, etc.). The shots can be hit in any of the four main directions, and each card can only be used once. This means there is a limited number of moves you can use per level, which makes the game simpler and more accessible for inexperienced puzzlers. There are also 120+ levels in the game, which adds some meat to the game, otherwise the game would feel too short as the puzzles are relatively easy to solve.

Infinite Minigolf

Infinite Minigolf

Only had this half an hour, the game handles very well, beautiful crisp graphics as we’d expect and good physics.

I had an issue with the DLC, where the game would not recognise the DLC, I ended up restarting Steam and it installed an update that fixed it, so bear that in mind if you hit that issue :)

I will update the review as I play more

One thing I will add is that the power stick on Controller seems a bit too tricky to get the exact power required, it jusmpos around, si it could do with refining.

Great game, but the problem is that some of the holes aren’t of a very high quality…

The game is great but some of the holes are very basic, for instance one piece of course, with a start and a hole, in which the hole is almost right next to the start. I understand that this is because the holes are all made by other players using the built-in editor.

How are the holes shared?

You will have noticed that there is no Workshop support for this game, which raises the question “how are holes shared?” The answer to that is simply via the game’s system which works like this:

Vertiginous Golf

Vertiginous Golf

This game is really pretty cool. It’s a minigolf game with a really cool fantasy-esque atmosphere and neat little contraptions all over. You build up power with swings and can use either a rewind button or a little jet thingie on your ball to move it slightly where you want. At first it seems like rewind is incredibly OP but the game gets fairly challenging and fairly fast. To the point it might even get a bit frustrating to some people. Luckily I was playing it with my girlfriend so I did honestly have a good time watch us both screw up a few times. The game’s got pretty good graphics and a neat art style and is surprisingly not too computer intensive too.

The Good

Vertignious Golf is a gorgeous game, both conceptually and stylistically. The game controls aren’t difficult to grasp, the music and sounds are well designed, and the interface is nice and clean, not interfering with the graphics – did I mention they were gorgeous? Oh, yes, I did.

The hummingbird and rewind features are welcome additions to the basic gameplay of minigolf. In fact, given the complexity of some of the holes, they’re requirements. The availability of a wedge in addition to a putter is welcome, adding a level of strategy absent in other minigolf games.

3D Ultra™ Minigolf Adventures

3D Ultra™ Minigolf Adventures

Words cannot describe how powerful and emotionally moving this game is. In point of fact, I would say that 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures sets a new standard not only for the videogame industry, but also for all art in any medium. The work of William Shakespeare wilts in comparison to the raw energy that radiates from this majestic creation.

Fools might say that 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures is “glitchy”, “broken”, or worse yet “borderline unplayable”. Those people are unwashed heathens whose puny minds simply cannot comprehend the intricacies of high art. Academics are able to correctly see Wanako Games' mind-bending piece illustrates the simple truth that, since human beings are inherently flawed creatures, all things that they create will in turn be inherently flawed. Take, for example, the “Outer Space” courses. Whenever I attempt to play on any of these courses, my computer begins to dry heave like a bloated walrus attempting to give birth to a tractor-trailer. Fools might see this as a flaw, but those academics who can understand what Wanako Games is attempting to achieve here can begin to appreciate the majesty of such a feature. Space is often called the final frontier, and by making the game near impossible to play on any of the Outer Space courses, Wanako underscores human limitations. When the you attempt to push the limits of humanity Wanako breaks your computer and forces you to confront the fact that there are certain things human beings cannot do. Thus, Wanako furthers the theme of the inherent failings of humanity. While another game might seek to blindly empower the player, 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures is far more intentioned and careful in its gameplay.

Very basic mini-golf game, with only 36 unique holes in the career, with the first 18 being unlocked in the first leg of the career, the second 18 in the second leg, and the third and final leg of the career makes you go through all 36 in one sitting. There’s an additional 18 tiki-island-themed holes that have their own campaign, suggesting that they may have originally been part of some DLC or something and are incorporated into the base game for free now. The only reason I’ve spent ~7.4 hours in the game was because of how clunky putting, the most fundamental part of golf, is here: in order to get the ball to go much of anywhere, you need at least 40% power; however, anything over 60% power will probably send the ball out-of-bounds, and it’s very tricky to hit that happy medium. There’s a custom-hole-creator, but it’s super-basic, with no online-sharing capabilities. There are four personae, two males (a punk rocker with no mouth and a high-school footballer with no eyes) and two rather-sexualised females, both with their navels showing, so I can’t really recommend this one for the kiddos, either. Best to save your money and pray that one of Steam’s Early Access mini-golf games ever come out for full release…

Mini Golf Mundo

Mini Golf Mundo

Mini Golf Mundo is a mini-golf game produced by purveyors of shovelware, EnsenaSoft. It does what it says on the box, that is to say, it’s a mini-golf simulator. Use the mouse to choose your trajectory, and hold down the left mouse button to power up, releasing when you think you have the right level of power in your stroke.

This game is fairly typical of an EnsenaSoft title. The graphics are poor quality, low poly. Gameplay is okay, but unfortunately they added moving obstacles and timing puzzles to some of the courses, which diverts away from a genuine mini-golf game. Resolution is fixed and there’s no other graphics settings. This isn’t worth $4.50, and there are better mini-golf games.

Here are all the wrong things about this game that I’ve found:

  • You can’t see anything, camera can move only to the sides

  • You can’t precisely control how strong you hit the ball, you have to hold left mouse button and release it when the power bar is in the place you want it to be

  • Most of the levels have something that dissapears and appears, which wouldn’t be that bad if you could see it, and hit your ball with proper strength. Sometimes it’s literally impossible to time it right, therefore you fail the whole level. I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THERE, BUT I DON’T LIKE IT!

MiniGolf

It is a small minigolf game and I only needed 4-5 hours to play all courses - the game has 6 campaigns with 9 courses each - so if you 5-8 minutes per course - it´s about 4-6 hours gametime … But it´s pretty exact the time needed playing a party real minigolf (only that´s more expensive). The graphics are nicely done (but you don´t have a wide screen option). The gamecontrol is easy to learn and to use. The ball physics are very good … I have problems with most other games I already played in this point, because they do what they want with the ball. So alltogether I enjoyed playing this little mini gold game. 7 out of 10 Stars for me.

Introducing Minigolf. An eye-catching game of, as the title indicates, minigolf.

You will be playing through 54 holes of varying difficulty and design. You will only need your mouse to play, the keyboard’s space bar can be used to select your ball to begin each stroke, and the escape key will function as normal. You will be playing through unique locations, such as a circus, an old castle, a factory and more. Inventive layouts & obstacles will challenge you to come in under par. Over hills and through valleys, obstacles galore, and much more, reaching the hole will take a steady hand and a keen eye. The time is at hand, grab your putter and hit the greens!

I love this game but the user interface for selecting things needs work. I struggle to find options to change my profile ie clubs I’m using are medium I should be using small. When I played a course it gave me 4 npc’s to play with. I could not choose less npc’s to play with or which ones. I could choose a course initially but once played it jumped right back in there without letting me select players or change course at all. Unless I totally exited the game and started again. I was working through the challenges and got to Lord Puttington and I got one of those close up windows they you reach out to touch to select. But its stuck there. I have to reboot to get out of it. Some of the helps are excellent the colour choice on the wheel to continue etc. But sometimes I’m pushing all the buttons trying to work out how to do things very unsuccessfully. The game however is excellent I love it. And its so nice to have a Ladies tee so thank you. Other games where its only set to a man’s game only we do a million chip shots to the green and we know we dont play like that.

Finally, a VR golf game I can’t put down. Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoyed The Golf Club, but it’s not the same type of golf game at all. This is more like Hot Shots, or some other more “arcade style” golf game. I’ve played golf games ever since the first Tiger Woods came out, so I do consider myself experienced with the genre. I’ve tried any VR golf experience out there looking for the right one, and I’m glad I bought this one.

Things I like about the game:

  • It’s a pretty gorgeous game tbh, it’s nice and colorful and just a pleasant environment to play some VR golf

Walkabout Mini Golf VR

What a hidden gem! This is an absolute MUST have for VR, especially if you are playing with friends. You’re going to think I’m kidding, but this stands next to Pavlov and Alyx in my top three VR games.

While so many games feel like tech demos, this plays smoothly and accurately, has great multiplayer, has fun collectables, it’s got charm - It’s just an actual finished game that feels like it was made with love.

Not the mention the new map added for free which was awesome and introduced a new gameplay mechanic as well. I can’t wait for the next one. I’m writing this review because the devs really deserve it!

This is the best VR Mini Golf game out. I really like the map designs and searching for new golf balls and looking for clues on the (hard) courses to unlock new putters really adds more to the game.

I had bought this game a couple years ago when I had first got a VR and just decided to download anything that was free that looked fun. Honestly I don’t understand why I chose a golf game considering how god awful I am at golf most of the time I can’t even hit the ball. Although playing a golf game in VR is quite fun to do especially during quarantine and you can’t actually play golf in a real place. Note that this game is mini-golf style golf not the standard golf but, hey I love mini-golf and if anything it’s easier and a lot more fun. Also note that this game is free but only gives you access to two courses. The additional three are DLCs however, there are difficulties and various gamemodes.

I really liked playing the 18 hole mini-golf course here. It was a lot of fun despite some issues. I played this on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers, I started out with my head barely above the ground. So when I see that error, I always do the Windows 7 compatability trick and started the game straight from Steam VR and it worked! You press Y or B to change the length of your club (up or down). You teleport by clicking on your thumbstick. Unfortunately, you cannot reset view within the game so you’ll need a roomscale setup. Game played fine for the most part (visuals/sounds/gameplay).
