The Odyssey: Winds of Athena

The Odyssey: Winds of Athena

This game is really fun, it’s simple and the first couple levels are perfect for getting the hang of the game.

Mechanics are solid; boats will sail directly towards the exit (although be careful if there is a reef/sandbar in the way) when you start up the wind, you can use currents to help guide a boat or two at a time - which is useful for some of the levels to open gates/locks.

Music is a plus, personally I prefer the in-game music although there is an option to disable it as well if you prefer.

2d puzzle short-break game, where you need to help some folks lead their boats through the very troubling seas. You’ll be creating small physical phenomena on the way of those boats, to save them from harm. In a Greek god way, indirectly and somehow messy, but with the good intentions at heart.

With the current price and the reality of Steam “greenlight” Augean stables going wild with the really bad things selling great just because they have trading cards on the board… I’d say “The Odyssey: Winds of Athena”, or whatever that game calls itself - is a decent project, which is not trying to rip you off, and providing with just enough gaming experience for the small price.

No Exit : Torments of Hell

No Exit : Torments of Hell

You’re a bat who can’t fly - only spider sling. Don’t touch the ground or you’ll die. Simple addicting and at times frustrating - but in the fun way that you’ll want to try again.

Full disclosure: I received this game from the developer because I already own some of their software products.

Quite a deceptively tricky little game. You basically need to go from one end of a level to the next using a grappling hook, but of course as you progress the game throws more challenges. Interface is simple as are the controls, the graphics are good and the sound track varied, and you have a campaign mode and an endless mode to challenge yourself with.

KEEPER- the hunter of insects

Fun game to pass some time. Don’t expect any depth however, but then it’s only 0.99 cents. I have already gotten my moneys worth out of it.

Just barely qualifies as a game

Pros:

  • The “game” starts

  • Did not crash once during playthrough

Cons:

  • No options

  • No auto-reload (have to move your hand from arrow keys to “R” key every time you want to reload)

  • There are only two enemies

  • Upgrades cost way too much and the menu is not intuitive

  • Steam overlay does not work

  • Save locations poorly placed

  • Bad weapon variety

  • No story line, mission or objective

Overall: I’d recommend AGAINST buying this game, as it should not even be on Steam (Yes it’s that terrible). If anything this game only sets the bar lower for other new games.

Metal Gunner

OK., First, played with Quest 2 Virtual desktop. This is a game that scratches that single player Mech itch.

I love it! Quick strait forward and above all fun, Tons of fun.

I can not believe so few reviews.

That’s why I am doing one. Oh, and head tracking aim. I love it. You will too.

Zeus Begins

Zeus Begins

You know, I grew up playing games like Golden Axe and the Streets of Rage series, so side-scrolling beat-em-ups games are kinda part of my gaming DNA. So imagine my overwhelming sense of nostalgia when I first booted up Zeus Begins and was greeted with a story told in pictures with text at the bottom of the screen, and then the opportunity to punch random bad peeps to a pulp!

I honestly had a blast playing this, it brought back so many memories, and there are some lovely little added extras (like every boss having it’s own unique little style, and some bullet-hell vertical-scrolling shooter stages between main levels that are reminiscent of games like 1942). And getting to play as an actual god, being able to kick some serious butt only adds to the value!

Zeus Begins isn’t a bad game. It just isn’t very good either. Kind of bare bones in the fighting department, which is the whole reason anyone would be playing this really. Some good ideas, like the shooter travel portions and the unique boss fights, but only barely implemented in a successful way. Solid starting point for future projects, but not worth the asking price.
