Monolithic

Monolithic

So I really do like the idea of this game, and I did have a lot of fun playing it!

However I think the tutorial should be a little expanded? I still don’t quite understand how capturing the cities work and I played a few rounds with a friend.

I wish the sandbox had monoliths to fight so I could practice there, and I think it would be helpful if we could pick the Monoliths we’re using in the sandbox mode so that we could practice them against others.

Sometimes when you play the tutorial it freezes up and doesn’t actually play, but that can be remedied by closing the game and opening it again.

I recommend this game only because it is free. it seems like the game needs a little bug squashing and there is no single player. HOWEVER, I like the idea of it, the UI works, the art looks good, and the music is great! Here are some videos of gameplay and a broken tutorial:

Without multiplayer, there is not much to sink your teeth into, especially considering that the tutorial broke on the second “playthrough”. I would not suggest getting your hopes up for this until the player base expands or you have friends who are interested in playing.

So… I was very excited when I found this game. Not only because it’s exactly the kind of game I was looking for, but also because the price was so reasonable.

I just finished my first play-through and I did really enjoy it although I do have some comments & concerns about gameplay.

I saw before purchasing that a lot of people insisted this game needed some kind of tutorial & that has been fixed, I found the tutorial to be super helpful. I do agree with another commenter though that a guided-victory tutorial (rather than a show & tell tutorial) would be much more beneficial.

I highly recommend it!

Anthropomachy is a great strategy game, and you have to conquer the world as a Greek God!

Each God has its own powers, and you can choose your own path when purchasing them: good, neutral or evil?

It’s not so easy to be a conqueror, but I thought this is the funniest part of this game, because you have to find out what you have to do to be a better God to your followers.

The experience in-game is not boring, even when you’re doing the same actions constantly, because the developers added some features such as sudden messages appearing with choices that can help you or not (making people lose faith in you or believe you are their savior), and some news that appears in red that can help you in some situations.

The current state of the game is about 4 hours worth of fun until the game doesn’t save on hours of work you’ve had by closing it down, no visible option to manually save either.

Options are just too plain compared to any other idle games.

Deisim

Deisim

One of if not THE ONLY “God game” I have ever played that is not another RTS borefest.

You do not have to build everything for the people and I love that!

You place land tiles in a seemingly infinite grid. Land tiles such as grasslands, Forests, Deserts, Oceans, and the such. Each prividing different resources for little humans who live grow and die all on their own.

The game is still being developed and will continue to get better as the dev Myron continues to expand and advance the game.

Simply put, this is the first real God game!

It’s neither Black and White nor Populous, but that’s okay because Deisim actually manages to carve out it’s own identity as a God game somewhere in between. Actually, on the surface Deisim kind of makes me think of Godus, except this is actually a good game. And in fact, one mind blowing consideration is that even in its current Early Access stage, Deisim is already a better game than Godus, despite being made by just one guy.

So anyway, the emphasis is on the placement of land tiles that you use to shape the environment, which then leads to tribal villages popping up. The villages will then use the environmental resources you’ve placed to grow and prosper, and eventually evolve into small towns, leading to more believers and more mana. Although indirect interaction is mainly how you grow your world, direct interaction is possible too, such as picking up villagers and buildings, or casting spells directly on things to either help or hinder the villagers. Towns will inevitably begin to spawn heretics who if given too much leeway, will convert their town into a heretic faith, eventually causing them to wage wars of conquest on their neighbours. To deal with this, a good old dose of fire or locusts can convince the heretics the error of their ways and show them that yours is the true faith.

Skyward Collapse

Skyward Collapse

Skyward Collapse is a game that requires some dedication and time investment to really learn it. You have to forgive the fact that there is no animation at all - characters slide around the world like pieces on a board game. And I’m going to say right up front to buy this game with the Nihon no Mura expansion. It’s only a little extra for it, and you won’t want to be without the Super Smite ability that comes with it.

As a god-like being, you command two factions of human civilization, which can be either Greek, Norse, or (with the expansion) Japanese. Each has unique skills, monsters, and gods whose powers can be used against one another by building up their towns and earning supplies.

This is a very unique game, combining automatic turn based combat with godlike with city manager, it is hard to place this in any particular catagory. The game itself is nice, although there are some features that are not so likeable. The game itself feels like a board game, and could easily be played as a board game, which is a great thing if you like board games! (Note, I am the founder of the Tabletop RPG Gamers League, so you could say I like board games!) Anyway, enough said for now, let us proceed to the pros and cons list.

I feel like it is important to point that this game this is made by solo dev, who has been great at interacting with everyone in discord and is willing to listen. Now those of us that have dipped into the early access games will know that this is something to cherish lol.

Also the Gameplay well let me go into more detail about that, but it is important to remember that it is early access so may change after i write this review but what i have found so far is:

Tower defence - The towers have this kinda Age of Empires feel to them this brings back that old nostalgia i love that! There also is an Arachnophobia mode this is something i recommend you play i wont tell you why, just trust me it is worth it! The enemy ramp up nicely giving a good amount of failure and felt to me like fun Gameplay

Real player with 84.1 hrs in game

This game is excellent for civ building and tower defense gamers. I am a seasoned (72 years old) player of both. The combo of both makes the game intriguing and challenging. It has depth without drudgery. Folks who do not play either of these genres may like this one just for that reason. To me there is a third aspect included - research. Which path should you choose first. There is no formula - one choice may be the best this go round but not in the same sequence the next time. And there will be a next time as you progress from map to map. Deciding how to allocate workers is another juggling complexity. The Dev’s UI design is a thing of beauty. Easy to use, informative info tips and an effective warning/informing system. Whatever your gaming proclivity I encourage you to give this one a try. It is just that unique.

Creo God Simulator

Creo God Simulator

This is just a first impression.

Overall it’s a great direction.(so please finish this,DEV.) hopefully not the direction just building some sort of economy simulator. The few god power(willpower) is cool yet (early access) hopefully more to come.

(situation 1) In a simulator like simcity it needs to have a lot of tweaking to balance this out,

(situation 2) If there are like (AI) gods I think it’s close on how it needs to go. Getting alot of

bonuses quick, fulfilling wishes/prayers. Use faster speed for a more quick

UPDATE JULY 2021: Yay! He finally fixed the bug! I can actually play! Oh…. new bug….. : Fires start on the map. You can put them out with rain, except when you can’t. Watched my altar burn for 5 mins as I used all my faith dousing it in rain, only to have it ignore that and keep burning.

This game wants to function, but it just can’t.

UPDATE APRIL 13TH 2020:

Same exact issue, making the game unplayable after the first 30 mins.

UPDATE MARCH 2020:

Pros: Many features added

Cons: THE. GAME-BREAKING. BUG. THAT. STOPS. YOU. FROM. GROWING. YOUR. CITY. STILL. HAS. NOT. BEEN. FIXED.

WorldBox - God Simulator

WorldBox - God Simulator

Worldbox is the most advanced god game out there. Don’t let the pixel art fool you, there is complexity here. You have no limits on your power, create and destroy without cost. Create storms, rend the land with earthquakes. Assign the dry land a biome, be that a dense jungle, or arid savannah. You can even curse the earth, so that the souls of the slain are trapped, cursed to wander the land as a vengeful wraith.

These souls, the races in the game are one of the core features. Spawn a group of humans, orcs, dwarves or elves. They will spawn, knowing nothing at all about the land you have made. As the grow and expand, they develop culture and research technologies to help them survive. Will you help them grow into a High Renaissance trade civilization? Or will they be unable to unite, due to a lack of resources and marauding demons. Watch as thousands of years of history lay out before you. Greedy dwarf kings waging unjust wars, intrepid human explorers setting sail for the first time in 800 years, since the Collapse. What will they find? Untouched paradise, or the husked out ruins of a once great Elven Kingdom. 2 Immortal kings, plotting against each other for thousands of years. All scenarios I have witnessed in my own kingdoms.

I absolutely gosh darn love this game.

I have played it for definitely over a hundred hours in the Humble Alpha version and I am so excited that its here on Steam. I can’t wait to follow this game to the ends of the box in Steam.

I do see a lot of people complaining about the price and how it is not worth it for how much content is in it right now but guess what guys? ITS AN EARLY ACCESS GAME!

Just a little advice: if you know that a game is not yet complete just DON’T BUY IT!

Anyways, what I find good about Worldbox is that it is just what it claims it is: World + Sandbox. ‘Course it isn’t as big as the actual world, but it still is pretty big. Complete with dozens of creatures to kill, i mean, spawn, and a whole array of powers to use to torture, i mean, help those creatures, Worldbox is a masterpiece.
