Anthropomachy

Anthropomachy

So… I was very excited when I found this game. Not only because it’s exactly the kind of game I was looking for, but also because the price was so reasonable.

I just finished my first play-through and I did really enjoy it although I do have some comments & concerns about gameplay.

I saw before purchasing that a lot of people insisted this game needed some kind of tutorial & that has been fixed, I found the tutorial to be super helpful. I do agree with another commenter though that a guided-victory tutorial (rather than a show & tell tutorial) would be much more beneficial.

I highly recommend it!

Anthropomachy is a great strategy game, and you have to conquer the world as a Greek God!

Each God has its own powers, and you can choose your own path when purchasing them: good, neutral or evil?

It’s not so easy to be a conqueror, but I thought this is the funniest part of this game, because you have to find out what you have to do to be a better God to your followers.

The experience in-game is not boring, even when you’re doing the same actions constantly, because the developers added some features such as sudden messages appearing with choices that can help you or not (making people lose faith in you or believe you are their savior), and some news that appears in red that can help you in some situations.

Sheep Island

Sheep Island

I have to admit. I like this game, simple, cheap, watch out for wolves though, pretty easy to learn and hard to master. (Edit) I’ve been playing a bit more, the best tactic seems to be placing sheep near the end, where there aren’t any trees. This way wolves won’t spawn.

Edit: The developer is continuing to work on Hakoniwa Sumo. He has added a “newcomer screen” where you can pick from new wrestlers, and he has also fixed the bugs in the game, so those two paragraphs which were my main issues with the game no longer apply.

In my opinion this game is too good to be free, and people who like sports management sims really need to check this out.

Also there is a review about a virus being in the game. I’ve never noticed anything like that. I think it is due to a false report from an AV.

Reus

Reus

This will be both, a Review for new people and a compliment to the game.

I played Reus for 270+ hours, and have so far unlocked almost all the achievements to the exception of two. An let me tell ya, this is a marvelous game, really. Rarely, if ever have I played such an intricate, interconnected, interdependent game where every choice and every placement has such profound and amazing influence over everything else, specially your “victory”.

First, the warnings -

  • You should not buy/play this game, if you don’t like “god games” (then really, why are you even here reading this?)

I love this game. But–full disclosure–the strategy genre is almost exclusively where I spend my gaming hours. The remaining time is usually allocated to sandbox games, and Reus sort of falls into both these categories.

While definitely not an open world game by any stretch of the imagination [the world is literally a closed ring], Reus follows the sandbox/god game pattern of affecting the world in a way similar to an artist painting a portrait. Using the proper tools (the Giants and their abilities), you masterfully paint your world on the blank canvas that is the earth. Unlike the artist, however, your creations are living beings!

Soter

A fun planet simulation game where you have to balance everything in order for the population to strive.

The game has a bit of a learning curve, so besides checking the wiki I’d recommend checking out TheFridgeNetwork (the creator of the game) on Twitch for informational VoDs/streams of the game.

This is NOT SimEarth at all. This is a simplistic (once you understand the mechanics) point and click. Extremely disappointing. Do not buy. The SimEarth mention in the description is deliberately misleading.

Spherical Trilogy

Spherical Trilogy

The idea of the game is simple … push the spheres onto the finishing locations (signified by orange squares on the floor) at which point they will turn green … the level is complete when all the spheres have been turned green.

Does that sound easy? Maybe it is, but sometimes looks can be deceiving. The spheres can only be pushed, one at time, and never pulled. Every level you complete gains you an extra “reset” (you start a new game with 2).

The game contains 300 levels (plus 3 introductory “very easy” levels), split equally between the 3 parts (use the arrow buttons at the top of the screen to select which part you want to play) … it may take some time to complete them all.

Super Dango

Super Dango

Similar to Baba is you, but most the puzzles are not as tight and clever and many of the are based around a large number of rules instead of just getting you to think outside the box about a small number of rules. Many of the levels feel like more traditional puzzle game levels and have a large number of fixed rules and only a had full of accessible rules that you can interact with to get through some set of obstacles. But the game still has fun puzzles, even if they don’t feel as clever as Baba is you’s, and it has a easy to use level creator to play around with making your own levels. Also the simple automations and interactions create some different puzzles and have some good potential for creating more interesting puzzles.

Lucifer Awaits, Chump!

Pros:

Highly addictive and I found myself lost in time a bit the 2nd time I was playing it.

The Notes can be super hilarious (If you have a dark sense of humor)

Mod support to add your own characters (added few Horror Villains)

Sprite animations are excellent

Cons:

Wish it had more color

While the background music sounds a bit creepy it can be a bit dull in long play sessions

Repetitive sins (mod support option sorta fixed that for me however)

Bugs:

The game soft locked 2 times when i exited in full screen mode.

A great little game that allows you to hand out judgement on souls! once you work out what you are supposed to be doing but that’s part of the fun.

The game runs well and has a very dark sense of humour, with some LOL comments in the victims bio’s, a lot of thought has obviously gone into this game.

The game uses very little PC resources and I found myself jumping in and out to judge the damned….. I mean souls during coffee breaks, much better than minesweeper!

Overall, at such a low price it is worth having a look at, be careful though, you may get slightly addicted!

The Sandbox Evolution - Craft a 2D Pixel Universe!

The Sandbox Evolution - Craft a 2D Pixel Universe!

The Platforming was fun and the levels I played were short. I normally am not a huge fan of platformer games but the short levels and easier difficulty were more my play style. With that said they do have harder levels, and you can use your credits to automatically beat them if you end up on the struggle bus for long. Beating Levels and completing quest in game give you more credits to use. You can also build levels to share with others, the tools are easy to use and after a few minutes you quickly figure things out. You unlock everything using credits, once unlocked you can use them in your level design. Early on I still had a ton of credits and no problems getting the items / monsters / materials I wanted to use, but I can see where the free to play isn’t so free once you get into it. With that said I have no problem forking over some cash for a game I’m enjoying and spending lots of time with. So check it out on steam, it’s free to play and you should be able to many hours of play out of it before you hit that first $ roadblock. #tsbevolution

The artwork, character controls, interface and general stability (on PC) are obviously much better than The Sandbox, but it doesn’t quite capture the magic of the past game.

In particular the temperature system isn’t as well balanced. It’s easier to get a runaway temperature reaction (eg dropping one ice in a body of water and forming a glacier). You could do that in the previous game, but the ice was much more likely to melt if you only dropped one, and it was easier to erase all the ice and get your water back. In this game temperature tends to stick around and you typically have to erase a lot of the surrounding solid blocks in order to get
