First off, don’t listen to the people with the aiming issues, they simply don’t know how to play the game and lick heavily in gaming skills.

Great little game and if you watch the trailer you know what to expect. Price is right.

Blood gore from battles is great.

Menu music is dominating.

Sound of goats alone makes the game that much better.

Take it from someone who has actually played the game for longer than it takes to get a refund…Recommended.

Don’t forget to check my guide, it will increase the hours.

Missions were pretty easy, but fun, and when turning on hard mode it became more challenging. Nice defense game, and all units have their uses and are unique, and that goes for both the enemy and yourself. Strategy comes from where you put your fire superiority, as well as your defenses. Shooting is RNG ridden, meaning your men or the enemy will miss sometimes, which makes for interesting gameplay.

Survival mode gave a pretty good challenge, and I’ve only beaten round 25 so far. Because of RNG, you can get screwed in the later levels of the survival mode when they concentrate all their vehicles on one side of your base. Regardless, it’s a fun mode to play with a video in the background. Similar to the missions, strategy comes from unit placement and where a majority of your units are facing, but as the levels progresses, it gets hard to concentrate your fire power, so you have to think of other ways of overcoming this.

Magi

Magi

This is an old and fun game that used to be sold by the standalone developer. It’s a shame strategies are not still posted, for it can really be challenging to win. Music soundtrack is pretty iconic… I don’t think the developer supports it anymore but if you’re into magic duels then you’ve probably spent worse money than this.

It’s “TUG-OF-WAR” with fireballs and techno-liches.

Other games come to mind, like

“Aeon Command” (space battles)

“Samurai vs Zombies Defense” (goofy samurai warfare)

and

“Puzzle Chronicles” (the illegitimate child of Tetris and Mortal Kombat)

These game elements are constant:

  • try to hold the line

  • manage your defences

  • beef-up your attacks

  • spam your enemies to death

In Magi, you start by opening magical “channels.” These channels enable your spells and strengthen them. Then, it’s a real-time battle as you queue-up spells for casting. It’s like the building queue in Starcraft or Civ… only it’s your shield spell, or a magic missile, or summoning an imp. As your mage is casting one spell, you have time to set up the next. And the next. You can plan a bit… or panic. Apparently, I’m still fond of panicking.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Defense

Rock ‘N’ Roll Defense

Rock ‘N’ Roll Defense is tower defense game. The concept is simple: build your towers and protect your kingdom. In this game the towers are speakers and the kingdom is a stage with a rock band playing a concert. You must protect them of pop, country, and etc fans. The idea is interesting but some points of the game annoy you too much.

To pass some levels you need luck, not ability, not the right towers, you need LUCK, it pissed me off. There are a few kind of enemies in each world (the game has 4 worlds), some of the enemies moves fast than others, so the obvious would be the fastest ones coming first than others, right? Not in this game.

Ok this game’s awesome.

I mean, everything’s completely old and we’ve seen all of this tons of times.. but can we speak about the idea?!

Basically this is the most classic tower defense you’ll play - enemies come in waves, they have a pre-drawn route and if they reach the core you get hit on your health; hence you have to put towers in fixed places, you can upgrade them and they’re all different for what concerns firing speed, type and so on.

But the whole setting isn’t the usual fantasy or medieval thing, but it’s hard rock. Yeah, you have to defend a hard rock stage and your towers are actually different types of sound amplifiers and speakers.

Note that I was a pre-release tester, however aside from the free key I was not paid for my time or under any obligation to play the game.

First thing to say is the art style is fantastic. If you like the screenshots then you won’t be disappointed! Occasionally things can be a bit hard to see due to the isometric viewpoint, however you can rotate the map 4 ways and view each level of your station individually if required.

In its current start of early access state I find the game really fun to play. You design your station as with any other sim type game but then you’ve also got to deal with the running of it. Staff can be equipped with tools and they will deal with problems (litter / crime / repairs etc.) within their area (perception), but if they don’t have the right tool or if the incident is too far away from them you’ll need to get involved. Some people get round this by having lots of staff with varying tools posted around, I personally like to micromanage a bit more and have less staff with better speed stats who I can use to react to problems as they come up. You also have to keep your staff rested so they don’t become useless!

The short version: this is a great simulation game and it’s definitely worth the price, even as an Early Access game.

Good stuff

  • The art is amazing and makes me wish I were back in London. (Would be wonderful to have art variations for certain assets, like billboards and coffee shops.)

  • The spatial aspects are satisfying to solve in the long-term — e.g., planning how to connect different subway lines that are perpendicular to one another and separated by three levels, while also incorporating an additional station entrance somewhere in the middle.

I’ve never played games of this genre. This is amazing! The levels are slowly becoming more difficult, which does not allow me to relax and even more draws me into the game. This game deserves more

I like old-style games, so I decided to buy this game, as it reminded me of the games of my childhood, well, let’s start with the pros of the game:

  • You need to think through your steps to be successful in this game

  • Intuitive interface, looks good

Disadvantages of the game:

I don’t really like the graphics, I think it looks too old, I’ve seen a few old-style games, but they used the new game development technologies, they looked very good and enticing

There Will Be Ink

There Will Be Ink

Cool isometric twin-stick shooter with a fun theme/premise and surprisingly deep gameplay (cover mechanics, stamina, dodge-roll, wind affects bullets, etc.). Current Beta and Alpha campaigns offer a good mix of challenge and fun. I’ve only played solo and two player coop so far but enjoyed both. There are a few levels that I died a lot on but with some unit upgrades and a change of tactics I was(/we were) able to pass them after a few more attempts. Having a T-Rex with an uzi definitely helped on one occasion. Will be checking back to see what other content and customization is added before this title leaves early access!

Plaguepunk Justice

Great mix of roguelike and squad based strategy. Unique setting and mechanics for a zombie game. Love the art style and the music is very enjoyable and gives a nice tone. Very polished with no crashes or issues so far. Has that addictive “one more turn/mission”. Glad I found this hidden gem.

recently got this game on sale, got completely hooked within the first three missions

the style, dialogue, combat, and crafting system are all top notch, 10/10

some of the things that hold the game back in my eyes is the movement, often times passing through another person (or vice versa) can mess up my placement, but to be fair thats just a learning curve

the combat enforces high mobility because of the healing combat, and i think thats really interesting. It makes positioning, resource management, exploration, and map awareness very important. Also requires a little bit of tracking which “patients” you have already treated, etc
