My Work Is Not Yet Done

My Work Is Not Yet Done

My Work Is Not Yet Done is a pilgrimage simulator following the final days of the inquisitor Avery, the last remaining survivor of the Empire’s doomed excursionary efforts into the remote and unaccountable Reach. Tasked with tracking down the source of an inscrutable signal, she must navigate, survey and survive an eerie, ever-shifting landscape reclaimed by nature — and perhaps something stranger.

My Work Is Not Yet Done seeks to provide a unique and innovative take on the survival genre aimed at accurately reproducing the physical and psychological experience of being alone in the wilderness, resituating the player’s role within nature as an interloper rather than conquistador. The game is set in an expansive open world environment that eschews the genre tropes of cold weather survival for a dense, oppressively rainy and humid forest, seamlessly blending procedural generation with a variety of handcrafted locations to ensure a sense of constant disorientation even across repeat playthroughs.

It is part of an ongoing series of works within a larger shared universe dedicated to examining questions of theological and cosmic horror: issues such as faith, weakness, devotion and loneliness — and the concomitant suffering contingent to such experiences.

Features

  • Combat-less exploration and survival gameplay, based on authentic bushcraft and land navigation techniques

  • Deep, systemically-reactive survival simulation mechanics, focusing on both physical and psychic conditions

  • A beautiful and expansive open world featuring real-time weather, atmospheric conditions, and day/night progression

  • Dynamic environments that react to the player’s condition and behaviour

  • Stark, striking 1-bit visuals, with an immersive HUD (and no hunger/thirst meters)

  • A free-form unscripted narrative experience built around emergent gameplay and ambient lore

What is it?

This is a neat little game that sits somewhere between casual simulation and frantic time management! You will be sent to a randomly generated island which will have an assortment of different equipment panels for you to use, and you will be given targets for a specific period of time (e.g. drill/sell 150 barrels in 7 days, or make a certain amount of profit). It is up to you to juggle (sometimes frantically) between the different platform control panels without missing an opportunity to suck more oil out of the ground, but at the same time leaving no machine unattended beyond its stress point, otherwise you will be spending more of your next shift fixing rather than drilling - and there’s no profit to be made fixing! You can use your profits to buy upgrades that last for the duration you’re at that particular island, but a new island means new (and very basic) equipment, and with a harder objective to meet!

Real player with 30.3 hrs in game

The setting of the game is, as far as I remember, drilling in a world where oil became a scarce resource. Your purpose is to hop from island to island and drill, baby, drill. It’s a capitalist’s dream to produce and sell to the free market directly, without any other jerk-offs like futures, or cartels like OPEC. You’ll spend the 8 minutes that consist an ingame day shifting between working the machines and monitoring the market.

Prices never go over $200 or below $100 (both are capped but in reality price goes lower than that, but you’ll soon find out especially in the later islands that you really need to squeeze the most money out of your oil sales, or you stockpile like mad and wait, especially because in the later islands the objective shifts from number of barrels to the money made out of oil sales.

The Sandbox of God: Remastered Edition

The Sandbox of God: Remastered Edition

DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review

The Sandbox of God is a game developed and published by Vertigo Gaming, the same person behind the Cook, Serve, Delicious series

The game offers some really nice graphics and a nice yet simplistic aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail even though it is a little rough around the edges

The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless and ends just at the right time

I remember playing the original version of this back on YoYoGames. The nostalgia definitely is there. Plus, now I get to try the new game modes I never did before. It’s still a fun clever puzzle with some silly and interesting ideas. Worth it!

Little Lost Robots

Little Lost Robots

Little Lost Robots is the alternative to an IQ test game. There are 2 modes to complete the puzzles in order to get 3 stars. The least number of moves and the fastest times to get the robots home. Although the fastest times solution has already been pre-determined, the optimum amount of moves are player determined! So the best solution for this game…may still come from you! I can’t believe such a simple game could have me hooked for hours just to get the best solution. I thought I was smart until this game came along. And my IQ is 152…apparently not high enough for this game.

Real player with 20.8 hrs in game

Little Lost Robots takes simple mechanics and put them together in a way that lets you find a solution to the puzzle at hand. As you get further into the game, more pieces of the puzzle should be taken into account, like when you should be melting/freezing ice blocks, robot collisions (you’ll be experiencing a lot of this in particular) and so on and so forth.

After that, it’s a matter of whether you want to make your solution as efficient as possible - and that itself is quite the different ballpark as now you’re trying to use less moves and commands (as if figuring out a solution by its own isn’t enough). A good puzzle game overall, although skipping levels isn’t a thing (in case of frustration), it means that if you’re stuck, you’re gonna be stuck on that particular level until you’ve got your “eureka moment”.

No more need to search the bag of your vacuum-cleaner for the missing parts of your puzzle.

No more need to clean the living room table because it’s time for some coffee.

No more need to chase your parrot because it also wants to play.

Nice puzzle game. Better in some ways than the Pixel Puzzles series. (Specifically, the fact that the puzzle pieces snap together outside the picture frame.) Decent for the price (especially if on discount).

Game Dev Studio

Game Dev Studio

**_So, about those mods…

No, don’t buy GDS for the mods. It’s been three months and there’s still nothing notable. The most interesting mods are still the absurdly edgy example mods that the developer put out._**

This is about the third time I’ve written this review, and for good reason: the developer, who is really awesome and dedicated to their project, keeps on adding stuff. While the original release of this game could have had a little more content, the frequent updates put out by him has not only fixed this, but has impressively improved upon some of the games faults at launch. While some people will buy games on instinct if they know just how dedicated the devs are to community feedback, I know not everybody will. So, why is Game Dev Studio worth 10 bucks?

The TL/DR

Edit*

After 90 hours, I definately got my monies worth. I could not be happier, updates have been consistent and dev actually listens to community. Not bad for a 1 person team. Support this one get more great games from responsible dev’s!

Buy it, its worth it.

My views:

I patiently waited for this game and had it on my wishlist followed for 3 months prior to its release. I agree that the game seems early access as other reviewers have mentioned. However; what other reviewers are not talking about is the insane speed patches come after a bug is reported in the forums. The developer is ontop of the game, more so than I have seen in other early access/released games. Multiple updates a day! I have over 600+ games in my library, few are indie titles, and some early access. Out of all of my games I see updates for this one most often and it just came out! That says something, I have had pre-orders on almost all of my games (yes im that guy who pre-orders everything) and have never seen the speed of response shown by this developer before!

Mad Games Tycoon

Mad Games Tycoon

TL;DR: At it’s core, this is a more fleshed out Game Dev Tycoon. Unfortunately, there are a lot of small annoyances born from sloppy design that before long start to add up. Unless you have a lot of patience, it isn’t worthwhile in its present state. Only recommended if it’s on sale, or if a patch cleans things up.

I’m writing this review because, honestly, I like this game. At the same time, though, I can’t really recommend it, because of a lot of small issues that add up to a few big ones.

Real player with 339.7 hrs in game

This game is fascinatingly full of flaws and mistakes, but I still find it fun and satisfying, so I play around them.

One of the big ones: You can build rooms like a staff room and a bathroom. Makes sense - let your employees relieve stress and perform basic bodily functions.

But no. Don’t do that. If you do, they’ll occasionally walk all the way over there (brutal in a larger office) and burn a real amount of time (in a time-condensed game.) Got a one week deadline for that game release? Too bad, your employee spent the entire week in the bathroom.

If you like jigsaws, this game is great value for money. There are 30 puzzles in 4 sizes - 40 pieces, 80 pieces, 200 pieces & 400 pieces. They’re divided into 6 difficulty levels from very easy to extreme. I’ve been playing it for weeks and I’m still not finished.

Super Jigsaw Puzzle

Super Jigsaw Puzzle

A must for jigsaw puzzle enthusiasts.

It’s jigsawing without the hassle. No pieces that can go missing or get sucked up by the vacuum cleaner!

There are 30 different puzzles, all available in sizes 40, 80, 200 and 400 pieces (giving a total of 120 puzzles).

Your puzzle is saved automatically every time you fit a piece in it’s correct position. Leave an unfinished puzzle, exit the game and return later whenever you wish to continue your work. A number of virtual boxes are available for sorting pieces by colour, texture, etc. You could however choose not to use any boxes (settings), for which there are Steam achievements.

This is the first jigsaw puzzle game by this developer, and it doesn’t have a theme like the later ones do. There is a wide variety of pictures, all of which have interesting colors that makes it fun to put them together. I think the pictures in their Cities and Monuments games are prettier, but these are pretty good. A lot nature scenes, plus more random stuff like an old boat. I would get Monuments first (that’s my favorite) and see if you like it. I think these are fun, well-made games so I recommend all of them, including this one.
