Hanoi Puzzles: Solid Match

Titles based on some old physical game are almost always a good choice, as long as the developer does not stumble along the way! Fortunately, Hanoi Puzzles: Solid Match is no exception. The implementation of this version is impeccable, and the fun from the original game is undoubtedly present here.

Solving all puzzle levels is easy. But finishing them within the sugested number of moves is not so easy.

Solving 5 levels in less moves then sugested, is a real challenge.

Recommended game for puzzle lovers and achievements hunters.

This game really needs an infinite life option. The checkpoints are un-charitable enough that it’d still be a challenging experience, and one that’d be less frustrating. Also I have no idea how to get past level 2.

I have always enjoyed logic games. Some of the levels were a challenge, but was able to conquer all the levels. Really would like to see more in this game. Loved the game!

Hanoi Puzzles: Flip Match

Hanoi Puzzles: Flip Match

A simple change in the game mechanic gives the puzzles a new way to solve. I am just as happy with this game as the previous version.

Some puzzles are straight forward early on to learn some basic concepts of moving and solving. Then later the solutions are not as obvious and you get to plan out your moves. But if you dont want to solve for the minimum moves, you can just move as much as you want. Being able to move to the next level with the “correct” solution, is huge for me.

The music is still calm and fits the style. Some of the music is a little bit… stronger or more aggressive compared to the previous game, but still calm and in the background.

Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest

Galcon 2: Galactic Conquest

If you are looking for an RTS immersive game that has been followed by a dedicated group of gamers through various versions (Galcon, Galcon Fusion, Galcon Labs) going back 15 years… and the current version (Galcon 2) which can be played cross-platform from android and IOS devices as well as PC… And has players on nearly every continent with servers running 24-7… and a multitude of game modes (even a legit poker mode that you can use your galcoins which you earn simply by playing), and a community that has everything (making international friends, drama, strategy discussion, etc)… and is constantly being updated (usually within the game, no new versions to download needed)… this game offers all this and more. It is highly addicting once you get sucked into it. One of the greatest features is the clan based galaxy map wars which last 12 days every 2 weeks. It really is a great, timeless, and unique game that anybody can play (noobs can play co-op mode vs bots, some who have been dedicated to just that for years, but they too contribute to clan based war efforts and love it). Be warned however… there is a lot of drama and fierce competiveness in this game, lol. You can only chat in your clan channel (if you join a clan) until you ever make your first purchase of galcoins, which is worthwhile if you let your vault bonus coins build up first. Galcoins are used to donate to clan, for betting on others who play (or yourself), in poker, or to buy slick cosmetic upgrades like planet skins and a plethora of fantastic ships (opposed to the default triangle ships). If you join a clan, during wars your clan occasionally unveils hidden prize stars and you can use special new ships for free, or buy them forever for pretty cheap. You can also earn galcoins from participating and ranking in tournaments players set up, which also is how you can win wing upgrades to your profile icon. There really is a lot to this game… and the masters in this game are essentially jedis, but everyone can be beat eventually in group based games. In any case, if you give this game a chance, you may find it will be the one game that you’ll still be playing years down the road. And did I mention… it is fun!?

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME: Please read below to understand what less than 3 hours of gameplay might entail.

This is a fair warning for anyone looking for a relaxed and fun strategy game: DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME.

Played for a few hours. Have been harassed 5 or more times with no option to chat with players unless I pay apparently.

1 way chat is a disgusting way to allow players one way harassment with no option to defend ones self.

Furthermore, playing normally means you’re suiciding if you attempt to defend your planets, even if they attack first.

Hostil

Hostil

It’s a great story with a linear path. The story has been told a hundred times, so it will become familiar quickly and the ending will be obvious, so obvious that I would only pay 50 pence for this game. Wait for it on the sales, it’s worth it just for the art and the sound which is well put together for this size of production team.

Hostil is aptly named, and the first game released by a tiny team in Spain, and this is something that draws me into these kinds of games, the dedication of often small, and in this case a 2-person team. I often visualise a small town with very little going for it and some energetic people making a dream a reality by doing a thing they love by writing these games instead of getting a safe job flipping burgers.

Real player with 1.4 hrs in game

Hostil is a short, simple adventure quest game of the click-based and hidden-item varieties. The graphics are very pretty and the gameplay isn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The interaction lacks substance, the story is cliche, and it is very easy.

There is no backtracking in Hostil. The game consists of a series of painted scenery pages, and you travel from one scene to the next by clicking things in the right order. You do have an inventory, but there are very few places to click on, so the tasks you must perform are never difficult to figure out. Most of the gameplay simply involves moving your cursor back and forth to locate non-obvious things to click on. There are a few simple puzzles at the end which involve clicking on things in the right order based on sounds you hear. Hopefully you played with the sound turned on, because you can’t solve the puzzles if the sound is off, and the game allows you to turn the sound down to make solving it impossible. There’s also a puzzle where you need to click on phrases in the right order, so you need to be good with English and even then the order of the phrasing does not make perfect sense so you’ll need to try several variations.

Skyland: Heart of the Mountain

Skyland: Heart of the Mountain

This game was totally useless. It was confusing and full of shyte half the time. I’m not even sure the writers understood the story half the time. It is a beyond convoluted futuristic end of the world type plot with characters dressed up like Lara Croft one minute and a Viking princess the other. There is all kinds of technical mumbo jumbo and very little explanation for anything. Sometimes it felt like Artifex was trying to be scientifically accurate instead of entertaining. We don’t give a damn if the technology is correct! Just give us a game that isn’t some 40 year old trekkie’s wet dream.

The Game Review

Game Visuals

I want to mention that the visual for the game is nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game’s option menu. Please do note that this is an old game, it might not play well on wide screen monitors in full screen mode; due to the game’s format.

One of my least favorite card games coming games like Hearthstone, Magic, Slay the Spire, Gwent, etc etc. Very low impact on deck building. Fun concept of having dueling players build decks to play specifically against one other person in a draft duel but the mechanics of the game make 90% of matches a rock paper scissors match of do you get to play your cards or does your opponent get to play theirs. No matter how cool of a deck you can build, either you win because you just did damage and the other player didn’t get to do anything to make the match interesting or your that player who doesn’t get to play. The only “close matches” I’ve played were mirror-like matches where both players just punched each other until the one with initiative gets the killing blow. I believe the game is still being developed while I’m writing this review so I’m sure they’re still tweaking and I hope the experience gets better but unfortunately for me that would require completely abandoning several key mechanics that I believe they want to define the game.

🌎 Overview 🌏

A unique card-based rougelike RPG that has great presentation. The cyberpunk themes are strong, but the game still needs a bit of polish and more content to become possibly one of the greats.

Score is at the bottom of the review, while you are down there, leave a like if you liked this review!
