Utter crap. They didn’t even bother to put the hands the right way around.

Size Matters

Size Matters

In Size Matters, the premise is that you are a scientist who has accidentally dumped shrinking formula on themselves in a lab accident. In practice, however, this is wholly irrelevant save for the “setting” of the areas.

The game is all about the mechanics. You start out large, but as the game goes on, you get progressively smaller and smaller. There are several pieces of lab equipment on benches around the lab, beakers of various chemicals, and notes – both written on the walls and on notepads – which contain instructions as to what chemicals you must combine, microwave, mix with water, or process through a machine that requires processing codes.

The main concept of Size Matters puts you in the shoes like some kinda mad Scientist dashing around a lab attempting to use different pieces of apparatus on ingredients to process, code, revert, restore, pour, microwave all to find the Antidote to stop you shrinking!!!

To help you along, you search for ingredients & information Notepads scattered about the lab. Each Notepad has a formula of some kind written upon it. Putting all this together plus wall board notes creates a chain of actions needed to be performed. Its then a process of elimination which you can follow up to a point until you arrive at the last prefinal ingredients. These prefinal ingredients conclude you to create the final Key ingredients 1, 2 & 3. You then put them into the Antidote Producer to produce the Antidote - grow to normal size & complete the game within the chosen time frame…… Got all tha? Good. Straight forward, simple, huh? ….. WRONG!!!!

Code Romantic

Code Romantic

I am a rank amateur as far as coding goes, so I was excited about the promises this game made at the outset. I didn’t realize it, but I was prepared by previous experiences for there to be a somewhat solid logic problem element, and then a story that was written around the puzzles that, in the end, I probably could have done without.

Code Romantic is not that game! My expectations were blown away and I had a beautiful experience that I think is pretty uncommon: The puzzles served the story, which served the puzzles. I did not prefer one aspect of the game over the other, and in fact they are inextricably linked. So often, I go into games looking to enjoy some puzzles and practically disregard the writing. This game actually made me cry a couple of times.

Disclaimer: I purchased the demo of this game on itch.io but was later asked to test the the final product so my experience was a mix of paid/ free.

Basically this game comes down to - do you want to fall in love while learning to code? For someone like me, who loves romance but also tech and is trying to learn how to code in C### but intimidated- this game is a godsend. No one is creating stuff like this; it is one of a kind. I got to learn to code and read code in the context of a heroic thrilling love story. It is a great mix of challenging with user action and rewarding with story. This game is super fun and fresh. The art and music is fantastic. The story and characters had me swooning, smiling, laughing and gasping like I was a teenager again with a mission, a crush and a bunch of friends and foes.

Let’s See What You Got

I was lucky enough to get this game for free as a beta tester. I have since gotten into speedrunning it and have been enjoying it a lot. Casually the game was enjoyable albeit a little short (2 hour first playthrough). However once you complete the game there are other fun variations of the game like an all abilities mode (kinda like a NG+), and a reverse playthrough. There are also some fun easter eggs and secrets in the zones and lobby that make exploring worth while. The challenge levels found in the lobby also give the game some extra difficulty while still staying separate from the normal playthrough. All in all I think there is plenty of content here to justify the low price of $12 for a casual player.

LSWYG is a great speedgame but an awful casual game unless you are fan of difficult games.

Lets just list out some of the features that make this game good to speedrun because I have no idea how to format this review:

  • In game timer

  • Great skill based movement

  • Developed with community feedback

  • 10-20 minute long runs depending on your skill level

  • Hard to get burned out of due to the short runs

  • Easy to just boot up and do a run whenever you feel like it

  • 25 well designed main levels with some extra levels for anyone able to finish the game for the first time

The King’s Request: Physiology and Anatomy Revision Game

The King’s Request: Physiology and Anatomy Revision Game

My playtime: 00:42:54 (based on in-game clock, last save before final boss)

Intro

The King’s Request: Physiology and Anatomy Revision Game is an educational game for students learning in physiology and anatomy. You’ll have to answer some questions in medical terms to kill enemies and save the world.

Pros:

  • There’s no penalty on wrong answers and the game will give you an explanation if you answer the questions wrong

  • Most objects are interactable

Cons:

  • You’re expected to know about the subject beforehand

Overall: 3/5 Competent

A KIng’s Quest is a short RPG Maker MV game revolving around answering questions on human anatomy and physiology (even when the enemy is not remotely human.) The game self-parodies its strange world where everything revolves around being a medical professor, including an early question where you must know the exact name of the part of your foot you want to stomp on a slime with.

Due to its brief length, almost every object in the game world can be examined for some cheeky remark or a few extra gold pieces. Or a secret enemy, sometimes.

Furry Shakespeare: To Date Or Not To Date Cat Girls?

Probably one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. I laughed, I wept, I mourned. I will never forget the impact this wonderful game had on my life.

I wondered why this game only had but a single review. I wondered if I would enjoy dating Cat Girls, when I myself prefer Dog Boys. I wondered a lot as I played it, what it was that I was reading? I wondered who I was supposed to be. I wondered if I was really trying to date one of these people, Or was I trying to solve some mystery here, Or just survive some mind twisting Thing…?

I still dont have any answers to any of that, but I do know there are now two reviews for this game. And I know I’ll walk down all its different paths until I figure out just exactly what it is I have read. or come to the end of the last one and realize that there is just me at the end of it all, wondering….

Operation Outsmart

Operation Outsmart

Operation Outsmart is an open-world sandbox RPG where you build wacky machines and recruit wacko koalas to save the world from those pesky robotic minions.

Build wacky machines

Build the most ridiculous vehicles from the large collection of basic, engineering, and special parts. Customise the look of your parts and bind keys to the operable parts. When you’re done, put a driver seat and hop behind the wheel.

Explore the open-world

Explore the vast open-world with your build or on foot. Speak to the koalas, they may reveal secrets or give you quests. The quests are either puzzle or combat, but either way, you will be generously rewarded with new parts, weapons, and most importantly, the koalas trust!

Recruit warrior koalas

Gain the koalas trusts by doing the quests and one by one they will become available for recruitment. They are very good with weapons (they get too excited with bazookas!) so make sure to mount the recruited koalas on your build so they can operate the vast variety of available weapons.

Fight the minions

Those pesky minions have taken the world and the koalas are not happy. You can control the mounted koalas to fight the minions with melee, ranged or explosive weapons. Minions drop XP orbs and metals. Make sure to collect them, they are very much needed!

Create new alloys

Are your builds too heavy? Do they break apart easily? You can reinforce your machines with alloys. At the Foundry, simply mix the different metal elements that you collected from the minions to create new alloys with unexpected properties. You never know what that extra 4% of Chromium can do!

Level-up your koalas

Those XP orbs you collected? Use them to unlock exciting abilities from the skills tree. The minions wouldn’t like it!
