Life Goes On: Done to Death
Life Goes On: Done to Death is a neat little puzzle game that I picked up a while ago and recently replayed to confirm my opinion of it.
The core concept of Life Goes On is quite unique and well-designed. Essentially, the game revolves around killing your knights in order to progress through the puzzles. The simplest example is creating a pathway across a spike pit with the knight’s bodies. However, this alone wouldn’t be enough to flesh out a full game, so the developers incorporated all sorts of mechanics that make the player think in a certain way to solve the puzzle. Life Goes On’s mechanics include but are not limited to: Checkpoints, toggleable spike pits/walls, saw blades, flamethrowers, buttons, conveyor belts, cannons, tractor beams, and more.

I first played the demo months ago and instantly fell in love with this game.
The full game did not fail to deliver.
The whole concept of (literally) standing on the shoulders of those who came before is presented wonderfully. See a deathtrap? Die on it, then respawn and walk on your corpse. Switch that has to be held down? Die so that your corpse falls on it, then respawn and walk past. Et cetera, et cetera.
The controls are a bit inaccurate at times, and will most likely leave you dying slightly more often than intended. Although since this game is all about sacrificing one knight to make a path for another, a few more corpses lying around aren’t that much of a problem. (And if you’re finding it difficult, a few more corpses aren’t a problem at all.)

YOLKED - The Egg Game
The moment I saw the concept of the game, I knew this was going to be very fun. Having a “casual” kinetic platformer/climber game with egg theme totally works, not just on screenshots and videos.
The game is somewhat comparable to stuff like Getting Over It, Jump King or even classic QWOP except here you have checkpoints and your egg character can easily crack/die(get yolked) instead of just falling all the way down to the level and losing all progress.
Visuals of the levels are well made and there are a lot of details/humour from devs, you might even call there is a “story” in each background. And artistically, it reminds me of Bit Trip Runner 2 and 3 art style, with how everything is wacky, chaotic, and related to you, everything is big obviously.

Had an egg-credibly fun time exploring this with my community!
Eye-pleasing graphics, great music & very satisfying egg violence.
The checkpoints are placed well to reward overcoming the challenges in each level.
Fellow grown-ups might enjoy it even more with their favourite adult beverage!
Not super long, but for an early access game what you get is well polished and there’s bits and pieces to explore off the main path. Looking forward to seeing what gets added!

Keyboard Warrior
Review copy provided by developer via Curator Connect
Not every idea is a good one. Keyboard Warrior takes its concept on the literal route, forcing you to type letters and words to fight and heal. That works great for something like The Typing of the Dead, but unfortunately this is a platformer. So, in the middle of navigating platforms you might need to type HIT to bash a flying enemy, or mash HEAL while also trying to escape from a pit of spikes. With some smart level design this could perhaps work, but in the opening minutes of the game you’ll have to ride little rock-people across a field of spikes while enemies leap after you, and find your way through a maze of fans full of, that’s right, enemies and spikes.

Simply put, it’s a great game. On your own it feels quite drab but together with people online and especially with friends, the games charm really shines.

Just Ski+
I love the premises of this Unity game - you can choose in fact between better graphics or better performance, instead of the usual stupid “ultra”, “poor”, “medium” and such qualities.
This is a small physics indie game, small even because it’s short, and minimalistic for sure - the whole game has in fact just two colors.
The white of the snow will be the main color of the whole game, since you’re playing as a skier, while the rest of the minimalistic world will be colored of black, red, orange, blue and so on.

Just Ski is fun physics game but it lacks a lot of basic features that you would expect from this genre. As of right now, there is only one map that you have to beat with no save points. It probably takes around 10 minutes, not that you could do on a first try. As you can see I have been trying to beat it for over 5 hours. In other words, you will replay the first section a lot (like 50 times at least). Somehow I am not bored of it just yet. Something about the relaxing music and the atmosphere makes the deaths less stressful.

Slaughter League
Slaughter League is a fast-paced multiplayer extravaganza that will pit you against up to 10 friends (or enemies!) in a daring race to the finish line. Will your skills measure up and help you take first place? Run as fast as you can (just watch out for those Tesla coils), jump as high as possible (but avoid the buzzsaws, of course), and slide your way to victory while dodging any spikes along the way. Now hurry, we need more lambs to the slaughter!
Along with a single-player campaign, Slaughter League features three core multiplayer modes. First is the classic race mode, where you can face off to see who can complete the course fastest, either in a single race or a series. Next is Outlast, where you’ll need to keep up with the randomized course as it moves along and try to be the last person standing. Finally there is Zombie mode, where an infected player attempts to zombify the rest of the competition and the last one alive (or at least, not undead) wins the round. After trying each mode, take a break from the competition and try out the stage builder before unleashing your twisted creations upon others!

Slime-san: Superslime Edition
This game puts you in the shoes, or lack thereof, of Slime-San, trying to escape after having been swallowed by a huge worm in this retro-styled linear platformer. It’s a long worm at that; At 100 Main stages (400 rooms), the main game is pretty sizable.
The game mainly focuses on the morph ability, which makes the player translucent and able to pass through certain blocks and enemies, as well as slowing down time. It’s a fantastically simple mechanic, being only one button you need to hold, and it never changes. In fact, Slime-San’s entire move-set remains the same through the entire game. The real diversity comes in the myriad of obstacles and enemies that get introduced over the game, making for an overall very nice easy-to-learn-hard-to-master progression.

Slime-san is an unassuming 2D pixel platformer that looks pretty retro. The graphics recall the NES era, and the game intentionally uses a sharply limited color palette – blue, green, red, and white – to further reinforce the retro feeling. Most of the levels consist of four unmoving screens, with each quarter of the level starting you back over at the beginning of it, while a timer runs in the background to measure how quickly you perform.
But the graphics belie a pretty solidly constructed platformer. This is no cheapo indie game, but is rather a platformer which is reminiscent of Super Meat Boy – very solid, but very compact, level design, with simplified graphics designed to call attention to what really matters in the levels.
