Drunken Fist đŸș👊 Totally Accurate Beat ‘em up

Drunken Fist đŸș👊 Totally Accurate Beat ‘em up

I mainly recommend this game because it’s very cheap and it’s a very unique fun concept with the physics based fighting. More games should use proper physics. There is a sufficient amount of different moves to make it rather interesting. (although I’d add a few more)

However I think it’s far from desirable. It feels unpolished / unfinished with many features, such as key rebinding and level select are missing on release.

I also don’t like the “drunken” part. Sure, it’s advertised in the title, but in practice it means that the game is hard to control and clunky. While some could consider the result funny, I can only think of it as frustrating, as things often don’t work as I expect.

Tl;dr: Drunken Fist is a silly game that needs a lot of work. It feels like an Early Access title, but it’s being sold as a finished product.

The Good

  • Silly and good for a laugh* Charming art style

The Bad

  • Priced a bit higher than it should be for the quality/amount of content ($2 - $3 seems more reasonable)* Controls aren’t always responsive* Lacks something as basic as the ability to exit the game from the main menu* Player character can get stuck inside the scenery

While it is quite a fun and chaotic game, especially with friends, some things need to be addressed. First off, server downtime or overload of players at one go. It’s a pain wanting to go online with random players only to find yourself unable to do so. Second, and related to my first point, when you do get into an actual online game, it upsets me that players will disconnect JUST before I get my win. Wouldn’t be an issue in general, but the fact that you don’t get the money NOR the “level up” is very, very disappointing. This has happened to me twice in a row, and I’m absolutely furious! I don’t mind the money bit, but I want to freaking level up!

It’s okay, I just hate how the matchmaking is not like how it is in the prologue, where you wait in the jail cell and other people join and appear in the cell too, then everyone has to escape the cell to start the game. It was cool to be able to continually play with the same people over again, or they leave and new people join in and replace them. And they removed in-game chat from the main game as well, even though it was in the Prologue which is also frustrating, to remove a feature like that, that was in the prologue is misguiding and disappointing. The in-game chat made coordinating games easy and allowed some form of character to translate through the people your playing with, instead of just playing with random unknowns all the time that might as well be AI since there’s so little of form of communication. Fix the online to that form and this game will be much better. The online is just not generous or flexible like the Prologue which to me is like false advertising.

MADNESS: Project Nexus

MADNESS: Project Nexus

Madness Project Nexus. First of all the obvious. 600+ hours as of writing this you already know I’m going to recommend this game. Here’s why:

Why Reccomend This?

I am one of the original kickstarter backers. I’ve been around since the beginning. So I’ve seen and played this game throughout it’s entire development lifecycle. Throughout it all I’ve seen the game change a lot, from it’s graphical upgrades, to refinement of the mechanics and gameplay design, I’ve played this game through it’s best and worst. And the one thing I can absolutely say is that this is a great game that I’ve had a lot of fun with, and am confident it only gets better from here.

sandford is a massive handsome hunk and i’d smooch on him all day

Jokes aside, I’ll go through the game and what I experienced. I played through Arena mode 2 times and am currently playing as ‘The Massive’, and I’ve beat the base game all on normal, and am yet to play it on tough.

This is my real first review, so i’ll break it into segments. In order, Story, Arena, and Playground. This is the order you SHOULD play the game, or at least in parts.

Story : In the story, you play through a long and grueling journey as Hank and his buds, and you make new friends along the way on your conquest to take down Project Nexus. The story, i binged through and completed in 3 days, but if you take your time, you’ll complete it in a balanced span of time. There are unique, fun to fight factions, many bosses fit for each faction and event, neatly designed levels and segments the game is played through, and many show-casings of scripting, unique weapons, and story building. It’s strong and fun, and satisfying to replay on higher difficulties. The added outfit system to allow you to replay levels with different setups is great fun. Some bits may be found strange or frustrating to fight through, but as me, a medium skill player, I always eventually prevailed. It’s definitely the main focus of the game. I rate it 8.5/10, it satisfied my Madness Combat itch!

You Are Kaiju

First of all, I would like to start by saying this soundtrack is currently in all of my playlists and I cannot stop listening to this.

When I first put on my headset, I was immersed into the life of a Kaiju and what it would be like to be one. I was immediately greeted with amazing graphics and well implemented game mechanics, after walking around in one of the many intricate maps, I discovered tanks to thwart my evil intentions. The game offers multiple attacks to give variety to combat and extremely satisfying interactions from the games physics engine. This game doesn’t allow you to hurt the people as to give a more “peaceful’ alternative and allow people of all ages to enjoy such a wondrous game.

Cake Bash

Cake Bash

I love this game - it’s cute and fun! You choose between different cakes and their “flavors” and either play by yourself locally, local couch with other people, or online against others in a series of party games to become the “tastiest.” The cakes are so cute and make adorable noises, and it’s hilarious to watch them run and throw punches.

To make things easier, if you want to know how to unlock a certain “flavor,” you can look it up in the “Collection” section of the main menu screen, and it will tell you what requirements you need to make in order to unlock them. No more looking up walkthrough’s on YouTube!

This is absolutely my favorite local multiplayer PC title. It has good controller support for multiple types of controllers at the same time, great games for several styles of competition, cute characters, and smooth easy-to-learn but challenging enough to master gameplay that will make it so your whole family can play, and probably each player will have a few “challenges” they are best in. It’s both cute and funny and a bit brutal, but even as a vegan I can’t feel too bad for desserts knocking each other around. This is a wonderful release that we have been looking forward to for 2+ PAX events and it has totally delivered.

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2

Asterix and Obelix were a big part of my childhood. Besides having read the comics and all the films I had never actually heard of any Games of this frenchise. It wasn’t until a big Microids Sale that I came across a game entitled Asterix and Obelix XXL 2 that immediately caught my attention. And so I bought it hoping for some nostalgia

Positive

-the game really manages to catch the ultimate Asterix and Obelix vibes with funny cutscenes, puns and tons of iconic quotes a la “These romans are crazy”

I have played the original several times and absolutely loved it.

I like what they have done with the graphics in this remasted version. I also like the changes to the updates / skill / shop system.

The challenges are pretty nice as well.

What is incredibly annoying is this Water-Mario (I’m just going to call them as such) which pushes you back with their water stream. When you play on difficulty hard you will hate them very fast. They don’t do any damage to you, but while getting pushed back you are also almost stunned, you can barely move around and you can’t perform any kind of attack. To recap: Water-Mario is annoying in the regular game. HOWEVER, whoever had the idea to add a Water-Mario challenge should be forced to play this every single day on difficulty hard and is only allowed to stop when getting gold.

Beast Mode: Night of the Werewolf

Beast Mode: Night of the Werewolf

The world needs more games where you can play as a Werewolf.

Got it on a sale for 98cents and alone the music was worth it. Made me replay the levels multiple times.

For the gameplay: You/werewolf – kill/hippis you cant die and its about time and highscore.

maps look cool and i hope more will be added, because i will play it again.

– Real player with 4.7 hrs in game

It’s a simple fun short game where you get to be a werewolf, killing hippies in a chain scoring system through a variety of nonsensical wacky levels. The levels are varied and atmospheric, music is good, but few tracks.

My personal gripes with the game is that the running is slow to start. You are airborne for a ungodly amount of time. Jumping always kills your combo, so it’s useless 90% of the time. I have no idea when jumping would be a smart move to make save for the few need jumps to beat few levels. The controls feel off as you turn and run to get a high score. To top it off getting the achievement “Kill a hillbilly” is unobtainable due to a glitch.
