Code/The Werewolf Party

Code/The Werewolf Party

Functionally, as a game, Code/The Werewolf Party is a notch lower than “fine.” The game works, it doesn’t look like trash - except for the UI garbage discussed below - and there aren’t any major show-stopping bugs.

The biggest issue with this game is that nothing stands out. As a result, I don’t think it’ll attract much of a playerbase other than a few teens farting around every once in a while. There’s an AI, but it’s not very good: the same characters keep repeating the same (random?) things, and votes don’t seem to have any kind of effect on the final outcome.

this game is on par with the likes of mafia, town of salem, one night ultimate werewolf, secret hitler and mindnight. No, it completely outclasses those games. Pick a character from generic boy or generic girl and have to pay money to make them your OC dream, Play the groundbreaking tutorial so meta that it just puts you in a game to learn from the groundup, and play with amazing bots so good, that all they do is talk once and die, just like in all other games! Lose every game but get a sweet sweet compensation of 50 gold, so every game feels like a true win to you. Pick from the massive language base of vietnamese or english. If you like worse town of salem, and in general worse social deduction, this game might just be right up your alley.

Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves

Sang-Froid - Tales of Werewolves

Easily one of the best and most unique games I’ve have ever encountered.

+Well crafted role-playing elements

+Best skill tree I’ve seen in years

+Amazing sound track

+Immense freedom with strategy

+Complete new genre

-Worst voice acting in a game I’ve ever heard (And I like the english VA in S.T.A.L.K.E.R)

-Terrible story. Just skip it. Like, wow.

I first saw this game years ago and thought it was focusing its efforts too much on being some try-hard, weird niche game. I was wrong.

Sang-Froid creates a whole new genre with a sophisticated collaboration of roleplaying, strategy and action.

A very canadian game about two lumberjack brothers who must protect their fevered sister from hordes of wolves send by the devil.

And then things get weird…

This game could be called a “Strategic Trap Defense Game” in spite of “Orcs Must Die!”, only much more slow-paced. The gameplay is split in two parts:

1. The Strategy part: This is where you place your traps on a strategic map of the in-game location and take preperations for the night to come. The map shows you what enemies will appear, where they appear and which route they take. There’s a variety of different weapons, items and accessoires you can buy in the shops that will help you to survive and you can change your loadout as you like. There are, of course, limitations in form of Action Points and Money. Every trap costs a different amount of Money and AP and once you run out of one (or both), you have to get along with what you prepared. There’s also a Skill-Tree. Each time you level up you gain a skill point which can be used to further advance your traps or abilities in combat.

Nightfall

A fun mafia-inspired game to play with a lobby of friends.

The different roles and ability unlocks give way for a TONNE of play styles and strategies.

An interesting take on the social deception genre, the various equipment unlocks you get from completing quests (or on game start depending on settings), add a lot of depth to the game.

Quests have their own minigame which on completion give you equipment points that allow you to unlock things such as smoke screen, invisiblity or boots of speed.

One of my favourites is the ability to impersonate another player entirely for the round.

I have always enjoyed each game of this I have played, and it is only in early access!

Gothica : The Devil’s Shadow

Gothica: The Devil’s Shadow is a single player, steampunk-influenced, adventure puzzle game designed for VR. Professor Van Helsing, the famous monster hunter, is not what he used to be. He needs your help. An insidious shadow is choking London and Van Helsing is assembling a team to fight back.

This introduction to the alternate reality of a Gothic London under siege begins as you’re recruited to help Van Helsing. A coach journey through the streets gives you a glimpse of the shadowy world that London has become as the Dark Lord’s influence grows. The coach driver gives you the lowdown and you learn about Van Helsing’s plight from a special mechanical storybox. But once you arrive at the entrance to Van Helsing’s HQ, before you can enter, there’s the small matter of an initiative test to pass. Only it’s not just the puzzle that will prove challenging. It’s safe to say that, for once, you’ll wish you were alone in the dark…
