Lesson number one: if you ever see a superhero in your close vicinity, run away or at least duck to cover. In case some superhero will inhabit your city to ‘protect it’, grab your belongings, sell your properties while it is still worth at least something, and move away. The farther - the better. Because you know, it is the law of nature (and nature of law) - if there’s something powerful on the one end of a stick, soon there will be an appropriate counterweight on the other end. And you will always be in the column of ‘accidental expenses’ on that account.

DC Comics and WB should take notes from these guys in terms of what we should see in a Superman game. I think they nailed a couple of things really really well:

  1. The stakes. Superman might be invulnerable, but his city is not. So, if you make his success depend on his ability to defend the city, then BOOM, you have some really high stakes. And it’s also true to who Superman is as a character.

  2. The gamification of skills - the training trials are a cool fun addition to test out and improve the player’s skills. This is not unheard of and it has been used in the Arkham series as well. These gents show that the same mechanics can be used just as well in a Superman game;

Champions Online… where to begin with this one? Probably with a bit of history, for your personal culture. On the 28th September 2006, Microsoft Game Studios and Cryptic Studios announced a brand new multiplayer game for the Xbox 360 known as Marvel Universe Online. The only thing we can all Google about this project is a short teaser with an epic music that shows actually nothing revelant about the game itself but it was here… until the 11th February 2008 when Marvel decided to cancel everything without explaination.

Just in case, I started to play when it turned into Free-to-Play. I don’t have the experiences with anything before that time either. This is my self explanations and the whole experiences I got during the time I played this game. (Yes, over 5k hours)

When I started out, the game got recently into free-to-play. From me, it was great! I got into the game, got a hard time to choose my very first archetype (Free build for Free players) and the customization of my very first character, which I finally made a kinda “Lizardman fighter tank” looking for the Tank build (The Behemoth). Back in time, we had 2 primary stats for our character builds. When I played it out, Free Players, on PvP, could do at least to go Toe-to-toe with the subscribed players, which they are Freeform build (making their own powers, etc.) As for the crafting, I do remember the old system, where you needed to gather materials to craft your equipments. It was grindy, but in the end, it worthed it. And if you wanted to continue to do your researches for the crafting, you needed to go to a special location for each branch you wanted to do!

Honestly this is one of the best games i have ever played. It has amazing everything. I really enjoyed using every power and playing for each mentor. But then there’s the bad side. After lvl 30 it sorta gets… kinda boring. All episodes cost around $15 which in the end really sucks. and if you want the really dope powers? you gotta pay. Honestly the developers should make EVERYTHING about this game free if they really want a good feedback from the community. And also adding some new mentors and clothing could be neat too. Because honestly playing for the same mentor with the same limited clothing items gets EXTREMLY boring. In the end, this game is really dope and one of my top favorite games (number 2 to be exact) but it could use some touches and fixes. Definetly recomend.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality

Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality

The game is very disappointing. Not because of what it is but because of what it could have been. The game is extremely fun and it makes me, dare I say it, feel like Spider-Man. After a while, I got used to the controls and how to web swing while looking cool. I spend hours swinging around doing 360’s and getting tangled with my wires but in the virtual reality world I feel like I could do anything. It takes a while to unlock all the suits and its fun while it lasts but then, the game ends. There is nothing left to do. The cars just go around in circles, the people just stand still and some move back and forth. The only thing you can do is swing around and while that is fun it can get quite boring. Sure there are time trials and combat trials but they aren’t as exhilarating as stopping a giant robot while drones shoot at you (more on that later) or stopping crime going on around the city. Things like that are what makes games last and make me want to go back and have fun with them.

This has potential to be something bigger. It’s now my favorite vr game even though I just swing around the city.

After some hours of playing, I got the hang of doing some really fun web slinging but the BIGGEST thing that annoys me is that when you attach a web line for swinging, it automatically starts to “reel” you in. This breaks immersion and even slows down momentum. I can understand how it’s useful in some situations to gain altitude but it’d be better if there was control over it, for example: your web lines will only reel in if you press another button like the movement button/stick. I just don’t get that feeling of a satisfying swing arc. Basically once you attach a web line, you gotta yank or pull your arm to propel yourself forward. I do like the feeling of yanking it to pull yourself in momentum but the swing itself just isn’t authentic. If they made the reeling controllable, this game would be 10 times better.

A surprisingly fun, fast, and replayable game - great for getting a sense of freefall and for some fun sci-fi obstacle course running along the way. A simple arcade style game, it’s worth checking out for free, and for Stan Lee’s voiceover and constant encouragement of the player’s character, Verticus - doing what heroes do best - saving the Earth, again and again.

Hero Zero

Hero Zero

This game is sort of endless, you can play and play and there’s always somebody more powerfull than you. Still, you can actually feel the growth your character experiences with every decision and every timer.

It has also a trainable pet system once you hit level 60, and the pet gives you bonuses and some self activated skills during combats. More interesting, every unlocked skill can be traded for a skill in the same slot with other pets you have.

The Hideout is a different typo of expansion/combat where you use automated bots to defend and attack other Hideouts for resources for your own hideout. What’s importan is that besides the buffs for bots and the main defense of the base, you have accelerators, resource gathering systems, Coin generators that go into your character wallet, Experience generator, Battle gym to better your stats, options to generate more adrenaline for the personal pvp sytem, and more. It’s continually expanding with more options for your limited hidout space.

Sure, at first Hero Zero may just seem like your typical click and wait game. And it is very much a click and wait game, so if you absolutely hate those, don’t expect much. However, and this is key, unlike other click and wait games it will never make you wait even half an hour for anything. In my opinion what makes those games so terrible is not that you have to click and wait, but that you have to click and then wait for so freaking long. The longest timers in HZ are about 20 mins, and those are pretty rare (there are also a couple 1 hour timers but those are for very special actions that you only need do once in a while anyways). Most don’t go past 10 mins, and usually they are 5 mins or even less. In the meantime, there’s plenty stuff to do so that you feel like you’re always doing something even if it’s just clicking and waiting. The game keeps you entertained, and isn’t that what matters?

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Virtual Reality Experience

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Virtual Reality Experience

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to be Spider-Man Just like millions of other people and for the most part this game really made me felt like I was the amazing web slinger. The AI hub is amazing and the controlls are perfect how you are able to switch between webs. But when you are finally able to swing to the crane it puts a really stupid effect on that covers all of what you can see ruining the expirience abit that then the vulture comes and you really get excited you start trying to web him up and the best part of the whole thing for me is when the crane started to come apart i really felt like Spider-Man pulling it back together and tying it up with webs then then you get to swing on to a helicopter and you are at max hype you dont even care about the stupid effect that covers your vision you just wanna swing off and then… IT ENDS AFTER 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!! I just stood there well it ended and just felt cheated if you thougth the arkham vr game was short well this takes the cake its a real shame to as I was really enjoying it. It will most likley never happen but i really do home one day they will make a full spidy vr game so my dreams can finally come true. To conclude even tho It’s only 10 minutes long I did really enjoy it and came out of it just amazed. Do take into acount that Spider-Man is my favourite Hero ever in my opinion.

*spoilers alert

I’m 55, never thought I’d see this stuff in my lifetime. This demo is pretty amazing. It’s short. You basically are only shooting webs at things. But its amazing!!! If you take the time to look around, you might even get a sense of vertigo, looking over the edge of the building behind you, or looking down from the crane. The HTC headset I use is pretty low res, you can see the graphics dots in every game you play, but once you get into the surroundings, that goes away.

MARVEL Puzzle Quest

MARVEL Puzzle Quest

If you like Match 3 games, you will adore this one! Marvel Puzzle Quest really is the best I have ever played. If you are not into Match 3, I think you should still give this one a try, as it might just change your mind.

While the micro-transactions do make for a pay-to-win situation, you can still get there through ordinary grinding.

Highly recommended.

I’ve enjoyed this game and didn’t mind making in game purchases early on.

I had the account wiped after a patch once. I contacted customer service about it and they fixed it in 1 day.

It always runs smoothly on my PC.

I guess it is slow at first but after 2 years, I’ve got a great roster and many of my heros are maxxed so I can play as long as I want and don’t ever see the need to make another in game purchase.

League of Maidens®

League of Maidens®

I picked up this game on a lark; I first learned about it a couple days before the open alpha release, and then downloaded and tried it out because my sense of irony couldn’t let me do otherwise. When I first got to the character creator, I was actually pleasantly surprised - it’s got a lot of dials and knobs you can turn, and you have the freedom to express yourself. Then, when I got past that to the actual game, I was somewhat put off; there were mobile game menus everywhere, and it just screamed MTX cash grab. I pushed onwards anyway, and as I actually played the game, it became clear that a lot of the surface level issues are easily explained away as just amateurish UX design - it is an open alpha, after all.

Real player with 573.9 hrs in game

The game is currently in Open Alpha, but the game isn’t necessarily the reason you should stay away right now. TL;DR at bottom.

This review is a culmination of my personal experiences and opinions.

Gameplay:

The game is considered a “single-player game with some multiplayer elements.” This pretty much just includes a chat, leader boards, a sort of global control map the two factions fight over, and a “world boss threat bar” which fills based on mobs killed by players across the server. The game is very much designed for an mmo style system but due to it being single player, the game has basically one or two different skill builds that actually work. Expect every class, which there are five, to pretty much play the same. The game features currently a short quest line with no paywalls to get through the story/progress. The end game however is just a gameplay loop of farming in game dungeons called “strong holds” which is basically just a series of rooms filled with enemies, and both world bosses and strong hold bosses for various cosmetics and items to craft an end game item called the “gauntlet.” Other than grinding this game offers afk fishing to earn a little income but isn’t necessarily worth it as you get more gold just grinding the strongholds with their increase-able difficulty system. The real end game is just grinding a currency called “shards” earned by killing mobs to buy hats/gun skins/emotes/capes/chokers (cosmetics) and what is called “ascension” gear which is basically just the highest tier of gear which special sub stats designed to boost skills with the classes in mind. Other gear can be upgraded to the same tier as ascension gear but comes with randomized sub stats. This system is flawed for multiple reasons as the sub stats on ascension gear is designed with an mmo play style of roles in mind despite this being a single player game. This is made even worse when you consider the fact each piece is 120k shards which takes lots of grinding to come by, making ascension gear useless except for two classes. There really isn’t much to do at all endgame besides making new characters and getting them upgraded/customizing them. You also have to pay for any sort of storage for excess crafting items or various other in game items and to be able to swap them between characters. This means that if you don’t have the storage you have to individually grind out materials needed for upgrading abilities on each character. You need A LOT of later game materials to fully upgrade abilities and some of them hardly drop at all.
