Creativerse

Creativerse

After all the time I’ve spent in-game, I figure it’s way past due to leave a review…

Overview:

Creativerse is a voxel block game which focuses on the creation of amazing structures, big and small. There is optional light melee combat, with the ability to slightly increase the difficulty of your battles. The graphics are detailed and quite colorful, although there’s plenty of darker blocks/areas in the game. Creativerse can accommodate all sorts of playstyles, from mining and resource gathering, simple survival, to creation of structures of all kinds.

So, after nearly 1600 (1593.5 at the time of this review) hours over a bit more than 2 years, I figure I ought to write a review of this game that has sucked up so much of my time and is the foundation of my digital media experience (videos and streams).

The TL;DR is that it’s free to play and if you want to check it out and really see if it’s a game you’d enjoy, do it, it’s not going to cost you anything but time. I can and do wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone that may be interested in cube based building exploration sandbox type games. For those who don’t TL;DR, read on.

Cubic Castles

I have to say I just found this game, and it’s what I’ve been looking for as I love mining/building games. However, I will say that I don’t like most games, so my tastes in games are very different than most people. Which means, it might not be a game for you. It’s very sand boxy where you build your own realms / spheres / worlds and visit those areas built by others. It reminds me of Windborne in this manner. There are only minimal game provided areas - Cubic Town Center, Cubic Lobby, Cubic Learning Center, an Adventure World (tutorial), and multiple Mines (to get resources for building), so you have to rely on the other players to provide entertainment or economy realms. There are daily quests, where you can earn in game currency for completing them; however, there is not a detailed quest line built per se. There are some other quests that also act as a bit of a continued tutorial, but there aren’t that many quests at this point.

Man do I miss this game.

Cubic Castles is a Massively Multiplayer Sandbox game, using the classic blocky art style. The game had a very unique concept and to be honest it is a very good game. There are 4 regions of land (I forgot their names) and in each region you walk around and can enter different people’s realms. There are also places that you can go to and gather materials and blocks to craft items and blocks.

You get a realm for free, and here you can do anything you want. Build a large base, a big parkour track, the limit is your imagination. A lot of people opened up shops to earn cubits. With cubits you can go to people’s shops and purchase wands, cosmetic items such as hats, and blocks or materials. The freedom that is given to you in this game is cool. Of course, the grinding you need to do is very time-consuming, but if you really wanted to build an awesome world, you’d go for it.

May 2016,

being Top in most of the ingame Ratings categories,

I have chose to resign mod and leave the game.

Hence its my turn to leave a review,

Overall, the game is not bad if one enjoys monotonous chores of grinds, farmings and hunting of Pves.

The game is filled with many bugs and exploits.

The lone Developer does put in alot of effort in adding new contents to the game.

The Failures of the game, when the game got released,

there was only One General Channel,

creating huge flood of various languages, being new and free on Steam, the inflow of starters/trolls were overwhelming,

The game itself is at best a meh… if it didnt directly appeal to a little of my ocd and nostalgia I wouldn’t have the near 1k hours I have… oh yeah a lot of that is idling to gain Tech Points, not 1k hours of actual play.

The real problem is the people behind this game. The actual team as far as I can tell is in a word…Nationalistic

DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THESE HATERS

If you are not Russian you do not get the same treatment.

Rather than go into ALL of the various places I have seen this exhibit itself I offer the following comparisons.

it is very scuffed but I love scuffed games.

default movespeed is horrid until you get a mount, but you can get them free it just takes awhile.

there isn’t much content atm unfortunately, the devs bought rights from china where the game is 3 years in content ahead, but it will come eventually. he’s working on the mobile version first but after that content is coming to both.

it’s like a MC towny server, but everywhere. idk, i just love it - feels like gaming 15 years ago before markets and trading websites and all that.

So, after about a hundred hours into the game, here’s my critique of Milkcraft:

First thing - personally I don’t like Minecraft, because you build things there only for the sake of building (no function, no inhabitants), graphics are poor and RPG aspects are extremely lacking. I bought Java version, played a while and got bored. That’s why I tried Milkcraft, to see if it’s better than Minecraft, but it’s actually worse.

It’s perhaps the single worst game I’ve ever played, next to Pokémon Go, Modern Combat 5, Asphalt 9 and Fire Emblem Heroes. It only cements my life-long conviction that mobile games (or games coming from mobile) are bad (except handhelds like PSP or DS). I left a positive review before, to maybe bring new players, but there are only 15 currently online and 30 24-hour peak, so the game is going nowhere in the West.

Unturned

Unturned

600 hours of experience and very well known on the workshop, so I pretty much have seen it all.

Unturned is rather mixed. Most servers follow a pay to win format and are focused on PvP (get lucky to find a gun and kill everyone you meet) or die trying. These servers are trash. However if you join a server without plugins such as TPA and kits, it is completely different. It feels like a survival game more than a FPS. You get to build a base… only to get offline raided, fight off zombies while exploring towns, military bases, and other places. You get a chance to be the best rather than paying for a free gun kit and plane.

Real player with 3003.3 hrs in game

Unturned is a very easy game to judge at first glance. It doesn’t appear to have amazing graphics, it has a Roblox-looking vibe, and there are noobs everywhere. Well, some of this IS true, but this is one of those games that you have to submerge yourself in a little before the true beauty shows. It can be seen as a game where you wander around chugging glue and getting high in order to stay alive a little longer…or it can be seen as a challenging survival experience where strategy is key. With full release said to be coming soon, let’s see what early access is like in Unturned.

Wurm Online

Wurm Online

The hours in kind of speak for themselves here…. so I’ll pro and con this….

pros:

You can modify everything in the game visually. If you don’t like the mountain, you can mine it down to the ocean level and turn it into a lake. If you don’t like the lake you can back fill it to become a mountain. You can make a lotr moria style underground mine city, a king arthur style castle, a church, a whatever you want.

There are no classes, you are what you decide to do. Want to make armour? You skill it up, be it cloth robe mage armour, leather armour, chain mail, full plate, dragon armour, ect. You want it better? Improve it yourself or take it to someone who is proficient in making said armour. Same with weapons, making bows, arrows, houses, fences, gardens.

I’ve played this game for 10+ years prior to it’s introduction to the Steam Community.

Let me first start by saying this game is not for everyone!

Wurm Online is a very slow paced game, it is best paired with someone to talk to, Netflix or another task. You will spend time and real effort into everything you do in Wurm and is not for the faint of heart in this manner.

If you are hoping or expecting anything to be quickly achieved or obtained in Wurm Online, this already is not the game for you!

THE SKIES

THE SKIES

After having played for quite some time, the game really grew on me! I’m having a great time traveling the wasteland and looting, hunting monsters, and building up my clan, as well as questing. Now for the pros and the cons:

Pros:

The graphics are pretty nice. The wasteland vibe is pretty well embodied by the setting and types of equipment you can use.

There are quite a few types of weapons to choose from at this time, though I wish there were more.

There are vehicles. You get a motorcycle early game, so traveling doesn’t take forever.

First of all you’ll see I’ve put in several hours already, most of these negative reviews played for 10-30 minutes at most. Definitely needs some work, AI isn’t very smart, bit buggy and some FPS issues. But after playing for a few hours it’s kind of grown on me. The robust crafting system and funny moments in quests add good flavor. For a free game it’s got potential.

It’s like DayZ mixed with Vanilla WoW. When a player dies, they don’t lose their character which is awesome, giving the game an RPG-feel which many survival games fail to give. Having different unique classes, experience points, skill points and talents also makes this game a bit different from other survival games that I’ve played. Still… bullets hurt and even the highest level players are not invincible gods.

Pros:

  • The game is difficult to the point of frustration at times, making the game hardcore as hell.

I’ve just picked this game up and I’d like to give it a honest review.

To be honest, when I first launched the game, I wasn’t expecting much, given it’s an indie with a very small $14.99 price tag. And boy was I wrong! Considering I am a big Metro / S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan, from the first moments of gameplay, I felt right at home.

Firstl of all, as someone who’s been to the Ukraine before, I immediately admired the authenticity of post-Soviet era surroundings.

Gameplay felt good and graphics were pretty. Well, almost pretty. The character models and animations looked pretty crappy and unpolished and character creation seemed pretty bad. However, given this game is in its Alpha state, I have good hopes for the developers to introduce better models, animations and a more feature-rich character creator.

its awful

even though i really like bad games i couldn’t even post a joke good opinion

i even tried beating the game so ima say whats bad about this:

1.crafting recipes are expensive af. you have to kill 2 zebras for an arrow and im pretty goddamn sure its not worth it

2.combat and healing is also boring, you just have to click LMB

3.most enemies are not worth fighting even tho their drops are importand to “beat” the game

4.boring

This game is a bit like if you combined Hexen meets Full Metal Alchemist with RPG game mechanics mixed in with Hexen FPS mechanics. On top of all of that it’s got survival mechanic’s built into it and is fairly rogue like game play to a certain point. It’s got it’s share of early access quirks to still work out or improve, but you can get a pretty good idea of the games potential. I find the core mechanics of the game to be pretty solid overall.

My initial impression of it wasn’t too great and a big part of that was the Transmute system was too tediously involved which the developer improved and it really made a big difference and put more focus on the combat while making the crafting quicker and less point and click heavy in general. It needed that to be fair it took away too much from the core combat element of the game being too stuck in a inventory window which you need to a fair bit due to the survival mechanics. I think the survival mechanics are a little more forgiving to people starting out as well with a few of the changes in the last month or so since I’ve had the game.

For the sake of the previous version which was far way better, I’d give this a thumbs up otherwise read this:

Hello first of all, I would like you to know this game was pretty good, but the recent update along with the data wipe killed it for me and my friend. We tried on the new updated version even if its a pain for us since he was lvl 50+ and I was about lvl 30. The worst thing in the new update is the AI, they are all insanely aggressive. Have you even tried? attack 1 and everybody ganks up on you, if this was your design then, me and my friend might just have to leave this and ask for a refund.
