STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

Having played this game for nearly 1000 hours now, here’s what I can say.

The good :

  • An incredible amount of content. Even if you’re not planning to subscribe, you still get access to 8 class stories, who take anywhere from 15 to 100 hours each depending on how fast you go through them and if you do side missions. Then there’s the usual MMORPG content, 4 man dungeons (called flashpoints), 16 man raids (operations) and world bosses all with different difficulty levels.

  • Quality of writing / storytelling. The story in this game is amazing and stands far above any other MMO I’ve played. It’s essentially high quality Bioware single player writing, but in an MMO. Some class stories stand out, like the Bond-esque Agent story, or the classic overpowered sith story of the warrior. Whoever you are, you’ll find a story that suits your style.

Here are 5 reasons why it is worth playing SWTOR in 2021!

1. Story Content

The best story content in the game are the 8 class stories from the original vanilla content. There is nothing like putting yourself in the shoes of a Sith or a Jedi or an Imperial Agent or a Smuggler.

If you haven’t played some of them or haven’t played them with a different gender or dark/light side combination or you haven’t tried to romance a particular companion, you should try (you can even now skip planetary arcs, as levels are irrelevant in single player content)

Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape

I have played this very addicting Java based medieval fantasy point-‘n’-click RNG-simulator (Old School RuneScape) since its launch in 2013 - to this date, I have 4,600+ hours of total time played clocked in. Unlike many others, I do not have any alt accounts (yet) - and yet I’m still not even maxed. Total level 2100/2277.

“OSRS” is a copy of RuneScape from August 2007 (in other words; legacy version of RuneScape) (with game updates until that date; meaning no Evolution of Combat, no trade limit (free trade) or the removal of the wilderness) - but the game hasn’t stayed all the same in the past eight years.

There isn’t any other game quite like OSRS. It is an open-world retro MMO with many skills to level, bosses to fight, and quests to complete. It is fairly simple in its controls and most of its mechanics, but it can still offer challenging and complex gameplay. There is no central storyline to complete in favor of smaller quests to build the world, focusing more on story and puzzles than just running around and killing stuff. The game has a lot of content to explore and what you go for is really up to what you want to do.

You will notice a large amount of people posting negative reviews are the ones who complain the game is too unforgiving. They’ll say it’s unpleasant dying to groups larger than them, and how if they can’t play solo, the game therefore sucks.

Let me be crystal clear in case the store page isn’t clear enough: IT’S A FULL-LOOT PVP MMO.

Full loot: When you die, everything you’re wearing and anything in your inventory is dropped or trashed. It’s written on the doorway outside, if you don’t like it don’t play it. If I’m allergic to fish, I’m not gonna go to a seafood restaurant and order trout, then post a bad google review saying it almost killed me.

THIS GAME IS GOING FREE TO PLAY IN APRIL! Just so if you’re interested in the game, but not willing to shell out $20 / $30 (off-sale) I don’t understand why people are hating that this will be f2p, if youwait you’ll miss out on the rewards.

($20 is a really good price imo. You’ll get a mount (Specteral Wolf), some gold, and another thing (forgot) when this becomes free 2 play.

[Long review because I see many negative reviews that baffle me, will put 3 sections for this game. Informative, Good, and Bad.]

RIFT

RIFT

What have I done with my life?

Once upon a time, Rift was a wonderful game, a great ‘classic’ MMO that had meaningful content, good raids and dungeons and was really worth investing the time into. Then Trion Worlds started bleeding money on failed project after failed project and Rifts Dev team got axed down hard. To try and compensate things went F2P and things were fine at first. Hey we get nifty new costumes and I don’t need to pay a sub fee anymore (I still did, even if the original patron perks were pretty bad by recent standards.)

Disclamer: even though it says i spent 331 hours on the game, most of my game time was spent outside of Steam. My real game time spans over thousands of hours.

I have been playing Rift on and off since the headstart of the original game in 2011. Back then it was my #2 most favorite game (only beaten by WoW because i was addicted to that game) and even though it no longer holds that place, i still really enjoy what the game brings to the table. It is one of the only MMOs still around that allows the player to build their own playstyle by combining skills and talents into a unique class. It’s something i always admired about Rift.

After playing this game for a while, i have to say i have enjoyed many hours of game play. Yes, you can pay ( with a ton of cash, it is not cheap) to obtain the end-game enchantnments and mounts quicker but nothing that you can not get with spending some time grinding out content. The best possible thing for any new player coming into the game would be to find a good guild. This will save you tons of time. Money can not buy you skill, i see 3.2 item players out dps and out play 4.3 players everyday. If you like Wow or mmo’s , you will enjoy this game. ( I suggest buying VIP, it is worth it for 10$ )

Awesome game. Shitty Free To play structure. If you like nickles or dimes then dont play this shit. RNG boxes will rape your bank before you get anything worth a fuck. Campaigns that force you to log in for ten days to repeat a garbage ass daily before you get enough of what you need to advance to the next portion, rinse repeat until you can move along. The gap between end game people and people that are just coming back or just starting is rediculously huge. To the tune of someone doing 80 million damage while you do 6 million… I know how to get to that damage level i just dont see myself playing this game as a second job to get there. This game was not like this in the beginning when i started to play and would be great if it went back but someone on the management team at this studio is a greedy fuck and needs to calm down. I want to reccomend this game but there is no maybe option so I rounded down like a jerk.

Metin2

Metin2… Old korean grinding MMO. Only name of this game and soundtrack in first location “enter the east” fill my heart with warm. Yeah, it’s all about nostalgia. I still love this game through many years. But now, let’s be honest and write about this game objectively without good feelings. This game, perhaps, one of the worst game in MMO genre. Literally, pay 2 play system which kills all, absolutely terrible grinding (you will waste months and years to get to the top without donation), game also as many others suffer from cheaters. I don’t recommend this game to anyone, except entirely clear people who never play MMO and want to try. This game is ♥♥♥♥, yeah, but really simple to learn and this is single advantage of this game.

If you are looking at this game because you remember playing it a long time ago then let me save you the time. The game has barely changed since its peak days back in the mid to late 2000s. There is new items, the level cap is raised, Inflation hit this game economy hard, and there is a few new places but they are more like dt runs for higher level players… Nothing new worth coming back for….

I may like this game and keep grinding, if i am not a mage.

When it says on wiki mage deal massive damage in close range. close range is true, but massive damage? its unbelieveable painful for mage to fight bosses, even a knignt

invested in end stat can do better damage than mage.

And when this question have been bought, answer is mage have nice aoe abilities. But which classed dont have aoe abilities? And as a penalty, mage have very low defense and health

even, the so call “magic defense”, while 95% mobs in game are dealing physical damage. Mage already have the worest lv20 buff that the sole purpose is to turn magic defense into

UPDATE The developer already got back to me on Discord and helped me find a workaround (clicking the NPCs with broken quests instead of spacebar) so my quests are completed and the Dev said he will fix the spacebar issue on the next emergency update ^_^!

I do like this game and review positive, HOWEVER, I will be reevaluating this review due to a very concerning fact. Apparently some (recent?) update has caused glitches with newbie quests making them completely undoable if you complete the task prior to getting the quest. I really hope I don’t have to start grinding over on a new character to enjoy this game, sure i’ve only played 2 days but Id rather quit and play something else if that ends up being the case. I did submit the problem in their discord so we will see what happens. Will update later.

Tree of Savior (English Ver.)

Tree of Savior (English Ver.)

Note: I played this game completely F2P (more on this) and was considered a top damage dealer(AKA DPS) before I quit the game in April 2020. I will try to say a few things to help you make up your mind before you start the game.

Tree of Savior is a F2P game, but you will find yourself struggle if you’re not a casual that doesn’t care about how strong your character is. There are ways to earn in game currency, and it’s definitely doable, but know that you will always see players who spend money have it way easier. This game is very P2W (Pay to Win).

Hello readers, here is an informed review on this title.

Tree of savior suffered from the work of uncaring developers and caused it’s own backlash to begin with. The game has from that point been unable to amount a comeback. IMC brought it upon themselves for ignoring the community.

In recent times it has begun to make improvements and changes for the better, but mistakes hamper the game to this day and in some cases gotten worse with time. I will cover the aspects of the game for anyone reading that may be interested in playing and what you can find if you do.

EDIT: Game is still good, they are adding new content, it became a LITTLE easier to find friends and guilds, but its still mostly people who know eachother and it will be hard if you start anew but it is possible.

Things arent overpriced anymore and its not that hard to grind gear and stuff anymore (It is hard, but not as hard as before, because with addition of new content you can make some nice gold)

Players started realizing how it is and are helping A LITTLE bit more, at least on US and EU servers where i play, i cant speak for others.

Highly recommend this game if you are into mmorpgs, it had received an award for the best mobile MMO RPG game in 2015.

The gameplay itself is very attractive with its 2D top down view and the artwork of the characters, gear and locations. It can be considered similar to Runescape and World of Warcraft.

Characters can be chosen from 4 different factions, Forsaken, Mountain clan, Chosen and Elves. Each faction has 4 different heroes to choose from which range from supports, damagers and defence heroes. Each faction starts at their own first map and after completing the quests in all zones you will proceed to the second map. The factions will then merge but into two. The chosen and elves and then the Mountcain clan and Forsaken. This map will have many quests, bosses and dungeons to complete until you proceed to the next map Ayvoldil where you will proceed to level up your character more.

Runes of Magic

Sad to say that after playing RoM for the past 6+ years it still fails to meet up to the hype Gameforge creates for itself.

1. After 10 years Siege Wars is still in Beta and is as lame as always, lagging & crashing constantly allowing whoever

crashes least to win.

2. Revamped Item Shop that’s difficult to use, fail sales and lame discounts set up to cost more for using it.

a) Removed more then 50% of content from the Item Shop and increased cost of what’s left.

b) Vital items for Crafting and Storage were made to rent rather then purchase permanently. (costing more)

I’ve played this game for about 10 years, since beta release basically.

Most of the issues in this game are being brought up by others but i’ll sum them up:

  • Memory leaks/no memory dump/management = crashes, lots of them too

  • Balance. Game has recieved very little attention here over the years

  • P2W-deluxe. Want to reach and stay endgame? Find a group that’s willing to drag you to it (unlikely these days), or pay, alot

  • PVP is garbage. I really don’t have to explain more than this. Arcanium Arena was a cool idea, shame so few play it
