Day 1 - 1/22/2020

| I went into this game blind, like I do for many others, but was sort of spoiled in what the consequences of my actions would be with the warning screen.
I played through the first time just reacting to events as they unfolded and got one of the bad endings. On reflection, it made sense, instead of just hanging out with a person that cared about me and remembered my birthday, I went out to meet someone new and as a result, missed the opportunity to see the warning signs that there was something wrong.

This game teaches that only a single moment of conversation could have either good or bad consequences in saving someone’s life, the friend you really care about so yeah wherever we go, in every corner of the world, we’d befriend with 1 or 2 people, the friends we’d blindly make a bond or connection without even realizing and we’d eventually start loving them so if they’d lose us or die, we’d get a very bad feeling of sorrow so we should always ask them personally if they’re fine and what’s going on in their internal lives like if they’re happy, satisfied with their lives or not because somehow if we could help them, we might end up saving someone’s life and that’s what good people really do. 3

Blush Blush
I am not gay or a furry but Volks do be having nice hair doe, but not in a gay way, because I’m straight and not a furry. I feel like some of you think that I am gay/furry, so I just would like to make it clear that I am not gay/furry. The nude DLC is fairly priced, if you are into that sort of thing, which I am not because I am a straight non furry person. I purchased said DLC to support a small indie company and not for sexual pleasure of any kind. One last time just in case you think that I was joking, I am not a gay furry, I am straight and have seen the shit out of Criminal Minds.

I hate myself for playing this.
It’s an idle game so I just leave it running all night so I can get money and raise my skills. Just so everyone knows why I’ve amassed so many hours in this game.
The art is quite nice. I like otome games that are cute and sweet and innocent, and sometimes this game gets more risque than what I want, but overall, the characters are cute and it’s fun to read their dialogue. (As you can imagine, I am NOT interested in the 18+ content, so I’m glad that’s a separate DLC. I wouldn’t have downloaded the game if the 18+ content wasn’t optional.) It’s a really silly, light-hearted game with lots of jokes. So far, there’s nothing deep about the plot or anything, but the characters are a lot of fun. I originally wasn’t very happy about the reset feature and was going to try playing the game without resetting, but you’ll definitely need to use it. It speeds up your job and hobby progress, and you have to have a certain reset boost to make progress with Dmitri.

Honestly, I didn’t expect a free visual novel to so rich in story & content …. Plus its not short - it took me around a day to complete it once - which was way longer then i was expecting - I honestly adore the characters (Joyce and Phoenix mostly - I mainly played it for the romance but its a rather deep game that i honestly could really relate too - As someone who struggles with solitude and being lonely i can really relate to the mc in this game and at part i kinda teared up abit because i can completely relate … the fear of rejection or failure is something i struggle with till this day …. so when is my joyce coming to rescue me xD )

I didn’t expect to like this VN as much as I did. And since it’s free, it’s definitely worth checking out!
The pastel colour palete really adds to how cute this game is. It’s a simple game with a relatable protagonist going through real life problems like making enough money to pay for next month’s rent. There’s a bit of humor sprinkled throughout, but the game also touches on more emotional things like loneliness (without being too edgy about it). I played through the three different endings and was happy enough with each of them for different reasons. I got all the achievements in-game so I am a bit disappointed steam didn’t unlock the achievements for me :(

First Snow
I’ve been following this project now basically since the beginning, so expectations were high (but reasonable, since I pretty much knew what’s coming reading the developer blog and some of the creator’s tweets for years). Did they deliver? Oh yeah, they definitely did!
Considering that this is “just” the little prequel to the main story of Twofold, plus they just dropped this for free - this VN’s quality is amazing! It’s not a mega masterpiece, but just the right amount of everything to get you hooked on the story and its characters to want more.

I’ll admit, I had mixed feelings for this game at first but it soon blew my expectations right out of the park.
A great story with brilliant writing and beautiful artwork, displaying two characters with quite different lives coming together in an intricate yet simple manner… The fact that its free leaves me a bit awestruck with how much work was clearly put into it. This game is, without a shadow of a doubt, something the developers should be proud of!
The story goes into a few things that I’m sure many can relate to; first year at college, living away from home, the worry of not fitting in or making friends. The whole thing kinda just gradually happens without thinking about it to be honest (at least in this gamer’s opinion), and this game displays that concept & process amazingly. It also features topics such as the path you want to take and it being hard when you don’t have much support behind that… Its a lovely love story, and I loved every minute of it.

A very deep and meaningful story, some people are too quick on judging others for being different or what they wish to be. This is a one of a kind story I haven’t found any other visual novel as powerful as this one and I wished it got more recognition.
Great = Soundtrack, take My heart

Without A Voice
This is a short and simple yuri visual novel, very solid when it goes to art and music, but slightly too minimalistic when it goes to the story. It follows a story of Cassidy, an exiled princess from a fantasy kingdom that meets a mysterious woman near her isolated forest cottage. The romance and supernatural mystery that follow are pretty predictable, and most likely could be a bit more satisfying with more build-up/depth. Many fragments feel either rushed or overly-simplistic, with the usual themes of forbidden love and discrimination being applied in a rather shallow manner. It’s still very serviceable though and I’ve generally enjoyed the story, particularly the final ending, featuring some justifiable revenge and utilizing the magical elements of the plot. Ultimately, it’s a fun little distraction – if you like yuri, it’s fully worth investing an hour and a half into, especially for free.

Great game, lots of splendid story telling and a nice sapphic blend. I only achieved three endings–one happy, one bitter (no sweet I assure you) and the last terrifying a sad as hell. Thus I am perhaps not the best to properly judge the game to it’s fullest but that 76 odd percent completion text tells me I made it at least half way content wise (not story wise as I found out through the second ending I got).
This is the story of Cassidy–an exiled princess living in a secluded forest in a small house–and Elowen–a mysterious woman Cassidy is greeted by one day. They talk and Cassidy is taken by Elowen’s beauty and refinement. They fight and have issues with eachother but have chances to rejoin and make up. All the while Cassidy is dealing with doubt and the abandonment from her beloved brother but she is still captivated by Elowen and can’t find herself once not thinking of her.

家有大貓 Nekojishi
When I first got the game, I was expecting some awkward gay furry dating sim I could laugh at, given the sexual content/nudity tags. In a severe turn of events, however, this turned out to be one of the best stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing through. I’ve laughed as much as I have teared up playing this game, and connected with the characters more then I ever thought I could. Nekojishi is a tragic story as much as it is a fun one. This was supposed to be a joke game for me, but ended up being a game I’ll recommend with full serious intent. If you’re not going to read the rest of this review, let me say: Don’t let the whole “gay furry” thing drive you away, this game much more then that.

First Impressions, You MUST try this game. I IMPLORE you, download this game, and play at least the first scene, if it’s off putting then you can choose to not play the game. BUT AT LEAST try.
Alright, on to the review.
So I review with 5 subjects, Gameplay, Story, Art (Music and Graphics), Enjoyment and Innovation/Bonus. Let’s start with game play.
Gameplay
This game… lacks in player control. I sometimes feel I go for long times without making a decision for the story and it gets boring. I can’t take too much off in this category because the story is amazing, and that is the real draw to a dating sim, I go deeper into that later. So really the gameplay can’t be given much merit because I also find that replaying many times (I go deeper into replaying in enjoyment) can get challenging when skipping through the text and suddenly the game stops so it can give me a full monologue where the words are slightly different then my other play through. Also, as I go into in enjoyment, a ton of the achievements are convoluted and hard to get because the game doesn’t even tell you what they are. To get all the achievements, I had to resort to a guide, not something I’m proud of but I had to do it. I give the gameplay a solid 0.9/2.0. Even with it’s flaws it still provides a game I feel I interact just enough in to consider it a game and not just a novel.

Bomber Bother
Pros:
Trans rights, ok!
Full controller support
Endorsed by a sitting congresswoman and the guy who made Daikatana
Almost justifies the existence of Grahm Grindelwald
Cons:
It’s not Rollercoaster Tycoon
On the whole I’d give this a 9/10.

Finally! The best part of the Greatest Game of All Time 64 is now available for Steam!
Playing as everyone’s favourite soy ferret, you send rascally bigots down a hole where they must stay until they redeem themselves of their crimes
Along the way you are helped by a cool goth sloth and a sunglasses skull, like in real life when you chase beavers
It’s basically the most complete and cohesive game since Demon’s Souls
10 trans rights out of 10

Once on a windswept night
I think this game is one of the most played visual novels on Steam having always been completely free and so I wanted to add my positive review for other players :)
Though, this game is quite different from many other visual novels. To get all the 50 (yes, 50!) achievements it took me some days and some guides too xD
For what concerns gameplay, it’s a standard visual novel anyways with only female characters; it features multiple choices, different endings and a very beautiful artwork on the backgrounds and the characters. Unfortunately there isn’t a proper page in which to look every graphic of the five girls, since to me it’s very refreshing and beautiful to play and to see them all and their reactions and such. Not all the visual novels feature great graphics :)

Here’s my short review: Inspiring, nice wording, good jokes, best story. Read it to experience it.
Here’s my ‘full review’
I don’t even know where to even start… The wording and the story itself is so good that I can’t even express it. I know it sounds like an exaggeration but I’m telling the truth. The story was so mysterious and intriguing. It make me want to read more and more and learn more about each characters. The ‘story’ within it is also very inspiring. It left me with existencial crisis for 2 days straight (not that it’s a bad thing). And those ‘tension and relieve’ moments are so good I can’t even word it properly. The soundtrack fits the atmosphere and the art style too. But I found it a little awkward on the “glass” scene tho. Would be better with more detail stuff but ART IS ART.

Otter of My Life
Otter of My Life had potential. HAD is the keyword.
I think a lot of issues revolve around translation errors and just plain bad game design (i.e. gender and pronouns having an affect on what endings you can get, lots of typos, text box issues, etc.). Normally I would ignore typos- English is a hard language to learn- but the grammatical issues are too bad to ignore in this case. This game has been out for over a year now and there’s no excuse to not get better translators.
The writing is bad. Not just “free to play game that was thrown together in a basement” bad- it feels like a middle schooler wrote it for their first English assignment. None of the characters are interesting or get any depth, and the routes are entirely too short, even if you’re just grinding for achievements.

Plot Lines are short and characters lack any depth. I was able to get the generic Bad Ending and one of the good endings in under 33 minutes. You don’t get to see these characters grow or even become too attached to them before you’ve completed their ending. We learn only surface level details of the characters we are dating and none of them have chemistry with our character or each other.
There are other weird oddities. Some of the characters are more poorly drawn then others and some of the Bigger Character Sprites are missing the details of their smaller versions. Which is weird since the Smaller Version could be easily upscaled. Dialogue is awkward and character speak or interject with information in ways that no Human ever would, which leads to Dialogue which can only be cringed at. The issues with the dialogue are clearly because the creator is not a native English Speaker, but even if the dialogue was improved. It would not help the Shallow Characters, lack of world-building and short, predictable and boring storylines.
