Elite Soldier: 3D Shooter

Positives:

  • Its actually quite fun

  • upgradeable weapons and equipment

  • campaign mode with 30 missions

  • sniper rifle is always a plus

  • acceptable street map

  • reminds me a little bit about counter strike

Negatives:

  • only 1 map in the whole game

  • the AI is bad

  • repetitive missions

  • the sniper rifle is unlocked after level 25

  • a lot of bugs

Well this was a positive surprise.

Ive had a good time, even with the problems it has.

If you like low budget/indie shooters,

Redneck Rampage

WTF is this game that I’m playing, it’s so bad. the best $14 I ever wasted. This game runs on a shitty version of Dosbox and is a shit to get running, the only thing I can recommend is that you get BuildGDX or RedneckGDX. Both do the trick when comes to wanting higher resolution, better graphics, visuals and a stable frame rate. BuildGDX is the better one as it includes FOV and Music. Here are some links for BuildGDX and help for running the game:

Redneck Rampage is an interactive work of art about a man named Leonard who is going through a painful experience, we follow him battling himself within his mind which is depicted by many in-game symbolisms, the soundtrack and an overall feeling of sorrow. Redneck Rampage boasts the most amazing artwork, littered with ever-changing vibrant colours utilised in varying alien shooting whilst weaving the undertones of sorrow, alcoholism and depression throughout the game, making for an extremely unique and atmospheric experience.

First of all this game is not pay2win its called pay2lookcool. There are lots of awesome skins in this game and this game will be awesome I mean if your tired of fighting other players then just fight some boses with your friends! Its really cool considering that it is also a free2play game. Though there are some bugs this game will be a ton of fun to play competitive. Although ranked is not out, once it comes out it will allow players to earn the bought currenct for free but for a bunch of playtime. This is going to be a really good game!

A bad port from a mobile to a PC. Bunch of android-like freemium microtransactions and overall, the game maps are mostly a ripoff from Counter-Strike games. But what shocked me the most is that the game even rips off a community CSGO radar mod called Simple Radar. In the game, you can’t choose a country so you’re stuck with China and there’s also no EU region servers.

The gameplay, though, is expectedly bad but not unenjoyable. If you have a friend and you are familiar with Counter-Strike you might have some fun here just to try to play this as an alternative for a little while.

Graphics are much better but still can not save or even checkpoint auto saves. AI could use more work. performance better than before. No ladder climbing ability. It has promise to be a good game but needs more work. For the cost as it is i would recommend catching it on sale. I hope they include sniper scopes with silencers, really needed.

Bullet Sorrow VR

Bullet Sorrow VR

Action packed far east, near future shooter that improves on the flaky but still fun demo.

Bullet Sorrow is like a great pop song, it’s simple, a tad repetitive and incredibly catchy. If you only like deeply contemplative strategy or enjoy reading 400 page manuals please move along.

This game is at heart an action arcade game. It plays alot like Time Crisis but with the addition of Matrix style bullet time. You are placed in a small area that is assaulted by enemies. You can teleport around (executed surprisingly well) picking up firearms and ducking behind cover. Hit the trackpad to trigger bullet time and then kill everyone while trying to look cool. Yep, just like an action hero. The next area is unlocked quickly and you move on through the map.

Grab on sale and it’s worth a punt, otherwise at full price it’s competing against better shooters and makes Bullet Sorrow less attractive.

Over time Bullet Sorrow has expanded beyond it’s Time Crisis on rails (3 long) missions and added a zombie wave shooter and multiplayer. It nice that the game has grown beyond it’s original concept. However the original missions are still it’s strongest feature. There’s an hour plus gameplay to complete all these missions.

The zombie horde wave shooter arena looks very nice however the zombies AI is a little rough how they move around, get stuck and clip through each other and surroundings. In addition I had some odd tracking issues with my hands jittering in pointing in some directions (didn’t appear to be the Vive tracker being the issue), and the teleport preventing moving to places that you should, however smooth trackpad locomotion wasn’t affected. Overall I didn’t find this section of the game that interesting. It also demonstrates the lack of animated impact when shooting enemy unless they die, this is throughout the game also but only becomes obvious shooting zombies as it’s closer up, which takes some of the enjoyment out of shooting enemy.

COP BASTARD

COP BASTARD

COP BASTARD is a old-school classic first-person shooter inspired by action movies from the 90s

History:

Japan, Osaka, early 90s.

Detective Katasha B. has a very bad reputation as a cruel, rude and unprincipled police officer, just a bastard.

Local residents and small bandyugans try to stay away from him, because of his not the cleanest and most obvious solutions to problems. Among local boys, he is known as “Uncle Berry”, due to the fact that he does not part with his beloved pistol Beretta, the only love in his life that has never let him down.

However, even such a character, who avoids any serious business, manages to get into a story that he tried to avoid all his life …

Key features of the game:

  • A bunch of crazy action:

Lots of intense gunfights - make yourself be remembered in this city. Shoot, shoot, shoot…

  • An exciting story:

Immerse yourself in the game and until the very end it will not be clear how the amazing story of a cop from Osaka will end.

  • Nice graphics and sounds:

The graphics and sounds in the game are made in such a way that the player fully feels like a character and plunges into the story.

Darkest Depths

Darkest Depths

Darkest Depths is a brave project in the FPS rogue-like category, the untamed genre in modern gaming, which deserves as much attention as it can get, especially with mechanics that can make it stand out.

Being an old school FPS player that grew up with games like Quake I can tell you that for sure it’s inspired by those, but does it carry the true weight? Not really - of course it has its modern touches, which on the other hand can be beneficial and bring far more versatility in such a complex genre if done right. Darkest Depths is a project that’s being developed by a single developer and this didn’t change the fact that I tested numerous iterations, fixes, and changes during the past month - all of them improving the game significantly. This true dedication is what you need to expect from every EA game project out there.

For a TL:DR its in the spoiler

! An actual early access game thats good! A few minor bugs, But its early access.

Having played this early access game for a few hours I’ve made a solid decision on what I feel. I’ll edit my review as I play more.

Darkest depths is being developed with a solo developer crafting everything from the ground up it seems. The game is the very epitome of a promising and practical game within its genre (But not without its bugs which I’ll cover).

ODIA

ODIA

Game Key provided by the Dev for review!

ODIA got my attention simply from it’s graphics. Invoking the old school aesthetic, I knew this was a game I had to get a hold of and give it a go, and boy was I not disappointed! I don’t think I’ve quite played anything like it. ODIA focuses more on a slower combat and movement to force you to plan out your attacks and pay attention to enemy projectiles. Using your shield to try and block some shots, or using a short dash to get out of the way or behind cover. Inching your way forward through enemy lines to reach the next checkpoint.

Real player with 6.0 hrs in game

Odia is a game about purple demons descending from a spiky sky starfish to murder a bunch of World-War-One-ish steampunk knights…

OK, I’m going to recommend this game, but that comes with one big caveat, as I feel it needs to be pointed out that this game doesn’t feel like the “early first-person shooter games” which Odia’s store description evokes. Yes, it’s got minimalistic, maybe even downright crude graphics - but old-school shooters used to be fast-paced, offered many different weapons for any given combat situation and typically had a more thrilling or tongue-in-cheek tone.

0 score out of 100. Not recommended. The developer should be embarrassed to pay $100 ..or to ask their parents to pay $100 to put this garbage on Steam.

Space Mercenary Shooter : Episode 1

Space Mercenary Shooter : Episode 1

I wanted a game similar to the old HalfLife games and found this one recomended on a list of “oldschool shooter” style games. It is by no means a masterpiece, but it is still fun to play.

Space Mercenary Shooter : Ep 1 is a short and not very interresing ( in terms of history ) first person shooter with quiet a few bugs .

Betwin enemies getting stuck on walls or crossing rooms that you aren’t even near and shooting you wend you can’t even see them and my favorite the invisible walls and dead enemys that stop your bullets from hiting the ones on the back .

Overall this shooter is more of a headache then anything else and not very enjoyable in the end , especialy any missions with mobs .
