BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite is a masterpiece. This game has one of the best storylines ever. The story was really interesting and I had so much fun playing through it. For a game made in 2013, I’ve gotta say, the graphics in this game are BEAUTIFUL. I loved the setting of this game and the atmosphere of this game is AMAZING. The gameplay in BioShock Infinite was really cool and the combat was unique. There is quite a lot of content in this game and some DLC’s to play after you have finished the main story. There were barely any bugs in this game and it is optimized well for whatever specs you have, the game will still run fine and still look really good. I have also played through the other 2 BioShock games and I really enjoyed those ones, but this one is by far the best of the series. This game is definitely worth the price and I also recommend buying the other BioShock games with this one too if you haven’t already played them. If you like story-rich FPS games I highly recommend BioShock Infinite. 11/10

BioShock™ Remastered

Amazing game, buried at sea (aka ‘The Plane Wasn’t The Only Thing That Crashed’)

As much as it pains me to say (because the story, setting, music, and gameplay are excellent), severe issues make it difficult to recommend Bioshock Remastered in it’s current state (as of July 2017). Crashes are frequent and sometimes result in deleted saves. If you insist on playing this game now, be prepared to babysit your saves and redo sections you’ve already completed.

Pro Tip:

Save every 5-10 minutes or so, then move your save file out of the default directory: C:\Users\ProfileName\Documents\BioshockHD\Bioshock\SaveGames\

Detailed review without any major spoilers.

The whole game takes place in Rapture - an underwater city. Don’t expect to be in the water though. It’s hard to follow the story mostly because of the sound quality, almost everything you hear is coming through a radio. There aren’t many people you can interact with and by that I mean actual characters that matter. There are literally unlimited number of enemies though. They seem to spawn every now and then so you never feel like you’re running around in an empty map.

As someone who doesn’t typically enjoy shooters, and someone who has no nostalgia for the title, I can safely say this game is legitimately worthy of it’s praise as a classic.

The Good:

  • Beautiful environments and a wonderful overall aesthetic. The immersive undersea late 1950-60s city that you find yourself exploring is not only a very unique location for a game, but it’s also just masterfully crafted. They really blew me away with just how interesting they were able to make every area. It was the kind of location I seriously would love to see in real life, a sort of dream environment as it were.

Bioshock is one of the most expertly made games I have ever played. The game takes place in a ciy called Rapture, a city under the sea created by Andre Ryan to be a utopia, where people’s dreams would not be limited by things such as government or morality. You play as Jack, a man in a plane crash that landed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, who finds a Lighthouse that leads to Rapture, now ruined and destroyed due to a war created by Atlas, a man who leads a rebellion group against Andrew Ryan, and wants to help you survive as you fight Splicers (genetic mutants created by splicing up on something called ADAM; a substance found at the bottom of the ocean that can be used for a variety of purpose. Medical, entertainment, or even getting powers called Plasmids) and Big Daddies, protecters of the Little Sisters, who hold sea slugs in their stomachs that produce loads of ADAM.

Kronostasis

Kronostasis

Overview

Kronostasis is a first-person shooter game with a lot of focus on its unique story. The levels offer a series of different challenges designed to encourage players to think outside of the box. Gameplay mechanics are also designed around this concept. Kronostasis also tries to focus more on fast-paced gameplay. Auxiliary capacitors for instance are power-up type boosts that can be collected while playing. These capacitors may then be discharged to provide additional movement speed or to blast away enemies whilst damaging them and providing additional shield energy.

There is a set of enemies that are commonly encountered on all levels, each level however features one or more unique bosses. Kronostasis’s story is inspired by Greek mythology but set in a futuristic timeline. The enemies you fight are inspired by mythical creatures and all zodiacs are represented by the bosses you encounter.

Story

In ancient times the guild of wizards existed, they studied the arcane of magic through astronomy, astrology and alchemy. Only through decades of training could certain gifted individuals master these skills and become wizards.

Wizards could cast powerful magic to aid ancient civilizations, they could also unleash massive destructive powers on the battlefields during war. Wielding such power however came at a great cost, casting magic would reduce the user’s life force causing advanced ageing.

Frustrated by his own fading live force a powerful wizard known as Kronos used forbidden techniques to conjure a spell that would grant him eternal life. Succeeding in his quest Kronos gained immortality. Freed from the bonds of time he could conjure spells that would decimate mortal mages, he was however driven mad by this power.

For centuries Kronos plagued the ancient word, turning all manner of creatures into monstrous beings. Unable to find a way to destroy Kronos, the guild of wizards, through a combined effort, finally managed to trap him in a time-sphere and banish him into time and space.

Fearing that history would inevitably repeat itself the wizard’s guild was disbanded and all their knowledge was sealed away. Now the only remnants of their existence have been reduced to nothing more than myth and legend.

Setting

In the not too distant future advancement in science and technology led to the development of the hyperspace drive. Hyperspace drives create rifts through time-space allowing access to a time altered dimension known as hyperspace allowing for faster than light travel. Together with advanced cryopreservation techniques, this gave rise to a new era of deep space exploration.

It was however discovered that the cryostasis procedures that deep space astronauts were subjected to caused severe mental stress. Combined with the extended periods of isolation associated with deep space travel this led to a massive rise in incidents associated with dementia and other mental afflictions.

In order to maintain safety aboard deep-space vessels, a new advanced type of artificially intelligent android was developed. These androids known as AIVO units are unaffected by the

Banished and entrapped in a time sphere Kronos is adrift in a time altered dimension. Each time a hyperspace drive creates a rift through time-space it triggers an anomaly within Kronos’s time sphere. Sensing these anomalies Kronos conjured a spell allowing him to align the position of his time sphere with that of the rift causing such an anomaly.

The Phlegethon is in hyperspace nearing the planet S3-15P778 as its final waypoint in a three-year mining operation. As the hyperspace drive opens a time rift in order to drop from hyperspace Kronos senses this anomaly and casts his dimensional alignment spell. As the Phlegethon emerges from hyperspace the dimensional alignment spell bends time and space and the ship collides with Kronos’s time sphere. The ship’s control systems are heavily damaged by the impact, and the crew awake from cryostasis to find that only the basic life support systems are active. They immediately scurry to try and get backup power and control systems online.

Meanwhile during the collision Kronos manages to board the Phlegethon and he starts transforming crew members into mythological creatures to serve as his minions. Those who manage to escape the transformation are hunted down and slaughtered by these creatures.

Due to system damages sustained during the impact, AIVO-D13 the AIVO unit aboard the Phlegethon remained unactivated. Amongst the chaos a crew member manages to bring the backup systems online, and AIVO-D13 is finally activated.

In order to prevent this affliction from possibly spreading to other systems, AIVO-D13 sets out to find and contain the source before he can signal for assistance. He starts battling his way through the service and maintenance quarters toward the control deck.

I want to first of all thank the developer for offering me a free evaluation key to his first game title here on Steam so that I could provide this review.

Unfortunately, that’s about all the thanks I can give this developer. I certainly can’t thank him for cobbling together a bunch of ultra cheap Unity store assets into the massive mess of a game he presents to the Steam store here. It’s a nightmare and asking a nickel for this game would be asking way too much for it.

This Strange Realm Of Mine

This Strange Realm Of Mine

This Strange Realm of Mine:

Ever wonder what would happen after your last intake of oxygen? Well, it is obvious - you’ll die! Your body will either rot six feet under or will be badly overcooked. But what about your spirit? Will it float in the atmosphere, in space, or be sucked somewhere hot and fiery? Wherever you end up, it’ll be a place where you can reflect on your life. This is the Strange Realm of Mine.

This Strange Realm of Mine is a combination of First Person Shooter, Puzzles and Horror, with a touch of poetry.

This Strange Realm Of Mine is a strange game indeed. Fundamentally, it is a game about philosophy and the nature of existence, and a sizable portion of the game is spent explaining its philosophical perspective to the player. The game touches upon some other themes, however, such as mental health, freedom of choice, and friendship. The game presents some interesting perspectives and questions that are worth considering, although its matter-of-fact philosophical statements about life and the universe can sometimes come across as preachy and a little pretentious, especially when the dialogue options give you no choice but to agree with them. Not all the text suffers from this problem, however. There are some likable characters and interesting poetry throughout the game, and the aspects of the game that are not (over) explained give the experience a nice dreamlike feel.

## BioShock™ 2 Remastered

**Oh my! Those big sisters like it rough! It's so satisfying to drill them.**

### In my opinion this game is so underrated.

You play as the first successful Big Daddy creation in BioShock 2\. The story focuses more on the creation and bonding of big daddies at first but moves on to and stays on ideas of different people, morals, good and evil etc. This game has 3 spare / kill choices apart from what you do with little sisters and has total 6 different endings. Endings are actually satisfying, all of them.

_BioShock 2 (Remastered)_ is a first-person shooter. The second game in the series is once again set in Rapture, a mysterious underwater facility. The level design of the districts of Rapture is even better than it was in the first game, and the expanded history turned Rapture into an even more interesting place to explore. Also, _Bioshock 2_'s story is a bit more engaging than its predecessor's, but it's still not a game for people who are looking for a story-heavy FPS.

On the offside, _BioShock 2 (Remastered)_ is technically flawed. For most people, the game tends to crash. For some people it gets so bad that the game is practically unplayable for them. The crashes are pretty much the sole reason for the 'mixed' reviews on Steam. You should really try to play the game for an hour or so shortly after purchase, and request a refund if it doesn't run well on your computer.

## Half-Life: Alyx

I recall with a certain level of fondness the excitement and appreciation I had when Valve released the new physic's engine with half-Life 2\. I remember playing that and being thrilled with how the engine made everything that much more immersive.

Alyx VR is on a whole other level.

Right from the start, I felt that old familiar sense of awe and appreciation that comes from the attention to detail, the art direction and physics modeling that has gone into this game. It is truly a next level experience and my hat is once again off to the magicians at Valve.

I have just completed HLA on my HP Reverb G2 + PC based on ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3080 OC, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, RAM 32GB DDR4 3600MHz. In the past I had played HLA for about one hour (in different sessions) on Valve Index + PC based on last gen hardware. Well, the experience with G2 is so far better. Sorry Valve, you developed a great VR game but your headset is not the best way to enjoy it because of the not so much satisfying quality of the visuals (depending on the headset and not on the PC hardware). Obviously, this is my personal opinion. The Index offers a smoother experience because of better tracking, the headset fits better your head and your facial features thanks to a lot of customizable adjustments, the FoV is a bit bigger. However in this kind of game the G2 tracking has nearly no issues; I had a small problem just in one short sequence, when you have to shoot the cannon: your hands are far apart and you can lose track of the one below when you aim at the enemy. And I had to slightly change my style when launching grenades; not a real problem. The G2 is quite comfortable on your head, difference with the Index is not a game changer. Even audio is quite the same, maybe Index has some more low frequencies. On the contrary the visual quality of the G2 at full resolution, without compromises, is simply mind blowing and highly immersive despite the standard FoV. And that’s a game changer and tastes as next gen! You’re always contemplating the environment and saying wow wow and wow, gee gee and gee*, your eyes watering for the joy! You feel as you are riding the frontiers of modern gaming (from a technical point of view)! Sometimes monsters are just annoying! Don’t bother me stupid zombies, I want to contemplate the scenario!! :-)
