BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite is a masterpiece. This game has one of the best storylines ever. The story was really interesting and I had so much fun playing through it. For a game made in 2013, I’ve gotta say, the graphics in this game are BEAUTIFUL. I loved the setting of this game and the atmosphere of this game is AMAZING. The gameplay in BioShock Infinite was really cool and the combat was unique. There is quite a lot of content in this game and some DLC’s to play after you have finished the main story. There were barely any bugs in this game and it is optimized well for whatever specs you have, the game will still run fine and still look really good. I have also played through the other 2 BioShock games and I really enjoyed those ones, but this one is by far the best of the series. This game is definitely worth the price and I also recommend buying the other BioShock games with this one too if you haven’t already played them. If you like story-rich FPS games I highly recommend BioShock Infinite. 11/10

Don’t bother

Lighting and Shadows are bugged causing it to flicker and stretch across the screen and as soon as I try to host a game (since there is no servers so you can only play against bots) all audio goes missing.

When the shadows and lighting was not flickering and stretching across my screen the maps looked alright

Fabula Mortis is an online FPS Arena Shooter. There’s a variety of characters with different weapons and abilities to choose from.

While the graphics are very nice thanks to the Unreal Engine, the gameplay itself is standard, boring Unreal FPS. Furthermore, the game is completely dead. It’s multiplayer only and there’s no servers.

There are many other, better arena shooters (especially with heavyweights like Epic and Blizzard in the market), so it’s understandable this very mediocre entry hasn’t succeeded and is now dead.

As someone who doesn’t typically enjoy shooters, and someone who has no nostalgia for the title, I can safely say this game is legitimately worthy of it’s praise as a classic.

The Good:

  • Beautiful environments and a wonderful overall aesthetic. The immersive undersea late 1950-60s city that you find yourself exploring is not only a very unique location for a game, but it’s also just masterfully crafted. They really blew me away with just how interesting they were able to make every area. It was the kind of location I seriously would love to see in real life, a sort of dream environment as it were.

Bioshock is one of the most expertly made games I have ever played. The game takes place in a ciy called Rapture, a city under the sea created by Andre Ryan to be a utopia, where people’s dreams would not be limited by things such as government or morality. You play as Jack, a man in a plane crash that landed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, who finds a Lighthouse that leads to Rapture, now ruined and destroyed due to a war created by Atlas, a man who leads a rebellion group against Andrew Ryan, and wants to help you survive as you fight Splicers (genetic mutants created by splicing up on something called ADAM; a substance found at the bottom of the ocean that can be used for a variety of purpose. Medical, entertainment, or even getting powers called Plasmids) and Big Daddies, protecters of the Little Sisters, who hold sea slugs in their stomachs that produce loads of ADAM.

BioShock® 2

BioShock® 2

BioShock 2, the very definition of a misunderstood sequel!

And so here I was, about 4 years after I played the original BioShock for the first time (the one on steam was the second) and was left amazed by the marvellously haunting underwater world and history of Rapture, the time had come to see how the story moved on.

Truth be told, I am by nature negatively biased towards sequels of great games, since the result rarely is on par with the originals.

At the same time, from online reviews and friends opinions I was expecting a generally mediοcre sequel, not really bad, but a lot inferior.

“Would I recommend this game” is a difficult question. The game itself is good. It may be the weakest installment in the Bioshock franchise to date, but the weakest installment of an amazing series is still pretty great. The reason I decided to say “no” is because of the amount of crap I had to go through just to get the game to play. I have about 16 hours of playtime logged, and I’m willing to bet a good half of it was spent troubleshooting, checking to see if various fixes worked, replaying segments and sometimes entire levels… it got old, fast. For a game that’s been out for so long to not have a single fix for everything is pretty inexcusable, especially one that you’re expected to pay for. I ended up looking up various guides on Steam and 2K’s support forum to get the game to work, uninstalling and reinstalling the game twice, uninstalling and reinstalling programs on my computer, tinkering with files, settings, and compatibility modes, even editing the .ini file itself. The most prominent issues I had were it constantly crashing shortly after starting the game (just when you get the rivet gun), on the loading screen to Siren Alley, the loading screen for Fontaine Futuristics, and near the end of the Fontaine Futuristics level. All of these required multiple attempts on my part to fix and finally finish.

Iron Grip: Warlord

Iron Grip: Warlord

After many tries, me and two friends have managed to win all maps on God Difficulty (without multipliers). The core of the game is defending your base with towers, and the towers from defenses-eating tanks.

We’ve loved this game due to the amounts of strategies and fine tunning you can make to win in what seemed to be impossible (3 on God). If you like a style of game where you can try again and again and again, making small changes each attempt in order to find a winning strategy, Iron Grip might be a good try.

ANGRY RANT BEFORE REVIEW STARTS HERE:

Ignore all reviews complaining about graphics, as they have absolutely no understanding as to when this game was made. Also, ignore those reviews from people with less than an hour played. In it’s time, they were the best graphics around. And really, if you need good graphics for you to enjoy a game, that’s pathetic. Addressing those who have played less than an hour: Obviously you do not understand the game at all. Reading your reviews, I see you have absolutely zero understanding as to how the game works. It’s not a mistake that the enemies are blue and your team red. And really, who cares?

BioShock™ 2 Remastered

BioShock™ 2 Remastered

Oh my! Those big sisters like it rough! It’s so satisfying to drill them.

In my opinion this game is so underrated.

You play as the first successful Big Daddy creation in BioShock 2. The story focuses more on the creation and bonding of big daddies at first but moves on to and stays on ideas of different people, morals, good and evil etc. This game has 3 spare / kill choices apart from what you do with little sisters and has total 6 different endings. Endings are actually satisfying, all of them.

Real player with 64.1 hrs in game

BioShock 2 (Remastered) is a first-person shooter. The second game in the series is once again set in Rapture, a mysterious underwater facility. The level design of the districts of Rapture is even better than it was in the first game, and the expanded history turned Rapture into an even more interesting place to explore. Also, Bioshock 2’s story is a bit more engaging than its predecessor’s, but it’s still not a game for people who are looking for a story-heavy FPS.

On the offside, BioShock 2 (Remastered) is technically flawed. For most people, the game tends to crash. For some people it gets so bad that the game is practically unplayable for them. The crashes are pretty much the sole reason for the ‘mixed’ reviews on Steam. You should really try to play the game for an hour or so shortly after purchase, and request a refund if it doesn’t run well on your computer.

Amazing game, buried at sea (aka ‘The Plane Wasn’t The Only Thing That Crashed’)

As much as it pains me to say (because the story, setting, music, and gameplay are excellent), severe issues make it difficult to recommend Bioshock Remastered in it’s current state (as of July 2017). Crashes are frequent and sometimes result in deleted saves. If you insist on playing this game now, be prepared to babysit your saves and redo sections you’ve already completed.

Pro Tip:

Save every 5-10 minutes or so, then move your save file out of the default directory: C:\Users\ProfileName\Documents\BioshockHD\Bioshock\SaveGames\

Detailed review without any major spoilers.

The whole game takes place in Rapture - an underwater city. Don’t expect to be in the water though. It’s hard to follow the story mostly because of the sound quality, almost everything you hear is coming through a radio. There aren’t many people you can interact with and by that I mean actual characters that matter. There are literally unlimited number of enemies though. They seem to spawn every now and then so you never feel like you’re running around in an empty map.

Guns of Icarus Online

Guns of Icarus Online

My rating of this game speaks for itself when you look at my credentials and see that I have laid down 3000+ hours in to this title. That said though there is a lot this game has to offer if you are considering obtaining this title. Bearing this review in mind I have since become apart of the development team as an intern at the time of writing this, I speak first and foremost as a player with personal opinions about this particular title.

All that said, this game is a steampunk style game, and with it teamwork and strategy is the biggest names of the game here. Communication and coordination with crews as well as allied ships on how each team engages one another is paramount to victory or defeat. Most matches usually run for about a good 15 minutes and are packed with the anticipation of engagements, counter-engagements and various methods for obtaining each map’s goals.

Real player with 6070.2 hrs in game

TLDR at bottom.

-Do you enjoy intricate team based gameplay, where you need to trust in the skill of your allies?

-Do you enjoy relatively easy mechanics that are tough to master?

-Do you fancy yourself a leader, that likes to communicate and see his orders carried out by real people?

-Do you love a game with a close tight community, where people follow the rules and everyone is willing to teach you?

If you said yes to any of these Guns of Icarus has a place for you.

-Do you not like having non transparent game mechanics? ( engines below 50% im looking at you )

Wrath of Anna

Wrath of Anna

The only reason I have 7.3 hours of Wrath of Anna logged (woefully making it impossible to try to get a refund..) is that I left the game alt-tabbed after it failed to boot up an online match (but seemed to freeze and never loaded the main menu again) and I left to go do something else, forgetting about it.

Look closely at the footage in this game’s trailer. No interaction is shown with any enemy, object, or NPCs, instead the player character is mindlessly meandering through the environments, occassionally ducking and staring at something in the distance. You will get all of this and nothing more if you choose to spend your money on Wrath of Anna. Wrath of Anna is perhaps best summarized by one of the screenshots the dev has selected in the preview images, a stairway to nowhere, shrouded in fog. This game has a cool setting but is completely devoid of anything of substance.

Real player with 7.3 hrs in game

I was given this game for free very early on in its development. Every once in a while I will reinstall it to see what is going on with it, and so far it seems like the DEV can’t quite make up their mind on what they want this game to be. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since it might show their willingness to move away from their initial plans for this game.

When I first tried this game it was very rough. It seemed to mainly be an early attempt at a large scale PVP game similiar to CSGO. However, the game was extremely rough and I was never able to actually play with anyone. You had to manually input IP addresses, so no… there was also mentions of a single player story mode. Initially this game page had screenshots of mechs and something that looked like a giant sandworm. Those screenshots have now been replaced with screenshots of what look like the beginning of an attempt to make another survival game.
