JetX VR

Gameplay feels pretty similar to Skyfront VR, which is also a flying shooter. What Jet X does to differentiate itself is the game modes in addition to deathmatch. There is a racing mode (really fun) and my favorite, energy core. In this mode, everyone is after the energy core. When someone picks it up, everyone gangs up to kill them and drop the core. Next person picks it up and flies away from everyone to hold the core as long as possible. First player to hold the core for a total of 100 seconds wins.

Great gameplay. Great sound. Great design. Great visualising. Incredible drive. It makes me proud for future VR-gaming scene. This game forces you plunge into the world of relaxation and gives you flashbacks to old Quake games. But it’s just a words. Let’s talk about things.

Positive sign:

  • Clear and unerstandable TUTORIAL

  • Full immersion

  • Good graphics

  • Nice mechanics

  • Good balance

Amusing is the fact that the pluses do not need to be specifically disclosed, since they are simply telling about everything right away.

Redline

Redline

My review is divided between 2 sections (past and present), to give the game a fair score.

Perspective of 1999 Review:

Redline’s main attraction is its ability to mix car combat with first-person shooting. After controlling a vehicle or turret and using each ride’s unique weapons, you can exit at anytime, and the game transforms into a first-person shooter with ten different on-foot weapons. The first-person elements works better in enclosed areas or buildings, as seeing an enemy’s car coming straight towards you is unsettling. The only way (except for accurate aim with one particular gun) to battle a vehicle is, of course, with your own vehicle.

Redline is a Car-Combat/FPS hybrid. It’s fast-paced and has some interesting ideas up it’s sleeve for sure. It seems a bit ambitious but unfortunately seems to have either rushed production values or not reign them in properly.

First I’d like to briefly point out the good I observed in my experience:

*Lovably hokey voice overs (Love me some cheezy VO which was common back in the day!)

*Lots of cars– and they all look really cool!

*Fun to toy around with the cars and their unique weaponry

*Being able to drop in/out of your vehicle any time you like

Cybershock: Future Parkour

Cybershock: Future Parkour

Really fun parkour game that can be exploited, but makes you feel like a complete badass when playing. Easiest way to explain is like a mix of Hotline Miami, Mirror’s edge, and kind of a faster version of portal.

I’ve just finished this game, and saying I was disappointed would certainly be a lie. It’s small, the idea is as simple as it gets, but it only adds to the appeal. The aesthetic of this game is one of its strongest sides. The visuals are very vaporwave and relaxing to look at, despite the roller coaster dynamic of the gameplay that made me go ‘whoa’ many a time. There are only a dozen stages in the whole game, but they’re all properly thought out. The controls are good as well. The whole game plays very smoothly. The music is spot-on as well. There are only a couple tracks in the soundtrack, but they are written quite well, so they still sound fresh even after an hour or two of trying to get a better time in each level. I already recommended this game to my friends, and I’m going to keep playing it more myself.

UPDATED Review 4/10/2021: Wow! This is a ton of fun. I had some prior grievances with some of the choices made with gameplay that were making the game very hard to enjoy for me. I voiced my concerns in my review, and the devs (small, indie dev team) responded very quickly to address some of those concerns. The devs are very receptive to feedback and appreciate hearing from their community, and it seems like they care about their product after seeing the most recent updates.

The gameplay is a lot of fun! It’s a bit of a combo of Crazy Taxi, Quarantine, and Carmageddon with slight influences from other media as well. If you’ve played Quarantine, you’ll notice the inspiration, but trust me, the devs are working hard to make this their own game! You will find yourself driving around a crazy, chaotic, and relatively apocalyptic city with bad guys and pedestrians on the road, turrets, other cabs/vehicles, and more. You are picking up fares, some of which need to go somewhere, others want you to kill someone or blow up a vehicle, and others want you to blow up a building (similar to dropping someone off at a destination, except with more explosions!). There may be more fare types in later districts that I haven’t gotten to yet, but I am satisfied with the fare types that are already in the game.

Cool indie game! Some stuff heavily resembles Quarantine or Road Warrior, but there are some major differences. Even despite the fact that the game has some bugs, the devs update it all time - a lot of stuff was fixed in recent patches.

Pros and cons below.

PROS:

  • positive vibe;

  • unique atmosphere somewhat reminds the old Quarantine classic;

  • nice effects and gore system;

  • excellent music!

  • driving model is not that bad at all,

  • cool weapons!

CONS:

  • some missions look bland and could be a bit better;

A decent arena battler with various game modes to play. For example, you can play shooting modes in a team deathmatch style where you fight to reach the winning score. Races can also be played, competing and also trying to best your time with the addition of a leaderboard. This is nice as it may add a bit of replayability at least. But because not many people play this game, there wouldn’t be much of a leaderboard to compare to anyways. Visuals aren’t bad where it does have some minimalist kind of looks. I think the game does have an emphasis on online pvp because of trhe genre and style of game it is, though i would have to give it a thumbs down because of the dead player base. It’s not too fun by yourself and playing with the AI. Although It is cheap enough to grab, you would need a quite a number of friends to all get their own copy to play together. Because it is a dead game, If there were more people playing online then it would perhaps be worth checking it out.

Drive-By Cop

Good game. Very simple but fun. Steering through actual motion controllers not recommended, better use thumbsticks.

Did not get motion sick by driving car and shooting bad guys. Car behaves like it should, wish for more different weapons and reloading options.

If you ask me ‘Drive-By Cop’ falls just short of being a fun little indie game. The idea is you drive around shopping at bad guys and sometimes bad guys in cars. There are no other weapons, the “bad guys” just kind of stand there and it lacks any form of excitement. But I do feel there is a bit of potential here because adding a few game modes like a balloon popping and maybe a Mario kart style battle multiplayer game and you could have something fun here. I can look past the Roblox graphics and lack of content if only the game is fun to play which sadly this isn’t. This is not something I currently recommend, but if I could have given it a neutral rating I would have.

ICEBOX: Speedgunner

ICEBOX: Speedgunner

**Full Disclosure: I have been bug testing and providing feedack on Icebox for quite a while. I was not payed for this, I did so because I really enjoyed the game and wanted to put in my 2 cents. The review below is of my own personal opinion.

This, at times claustrophobic feeling, frantic and addicting first person shooter brings some of the sensibilities from 90’s FPS’s forward and combines them with a stopwatch and bragings rights. Icebox: Speedgunner gives you a tight campaign experince and then leaves you to crawl, to cheat, to cut corners, to make everyshot count, to fight your way up the leaderboard a show why your beater then everyone else.

Icebox is a frantic runner game that feels how many attempts at a decent Tron game should have. The story mode is decent and teaches you what you need to know. The voice acting is decent, and un my opinion above par for an indie title. Where this game shines is in it’s online pay. Monthly and daily challenges, procedural levels that can be hard set with ‘seeds’ so you can test your metal against your mates. I can’t wait to see a real community grow around this game. For $10, it’s a bargain. Get on it.

RAYZE

Pros:

-Easy to understand and get into

-Competitive speedgame

-Visuals, amount of stats, in-game leaderboards

-Devs are pretty transparent with their intentions in the discord

Cons:

-Some levels are poorly designed, like forcing you to slow down to beat them(unless you are a god)

-No in game replays(yet)

-Lack of conclusive anticheat until the devs see fit

Game is overall pretty fun. Has a lot of replay ability if you are a speedrunner. I would recommend it as I know some of the cons are getting changed in the future. Join the discord!

(1.5hrs) I have nowhere near as much time currently as I want to put in, but this game is so fun. It looks similar to Beat Saber with the aesthetics, feels like an aim trainer almost, and is just a satisfying rhythm game. Once you get patterns down it becomes easy and extremely fun. The music is also pretty damn good, the only issue is the FOV is locked at 60.

(~11.5hrs) i am ahead of all my friends on the leaderboard for every level and all of my hours have been trying to do that….

i love it. get this game.
