AXYOS

AXYOS

This game is a pure example of what is wrong in the “Steam Greenlight” independent game industry. And mostly, what kind of trivial mistakes, the dervelopers, are doing in the process of developing an “indie game”.

First, about this “game”. It’s suppose to be a MOBA type FPS but the “game” is in this stage practically from the beginning with no actual or visable updates. The only visable change was the changing of the name of this “game” from RiP to AXYOS. Yes, I know that the “game” is in “Early Access” but it’s not, even, in an Alpha stage. I keep saying “game” with quotation marks because there is no game at all. Yes, the “game” looks like in the screen shots but that’s it. Only nice characters models, some weapons and some textures made with the UnReal DevKit. And that’s it!

The game itself? Great in appearance and has potential. However, that says little as many great games have been ruined by their publishers. And while in a single player game, that may not matter, in a multiplayer game, it is fundamental that the publishers understand the importance of not harassing their userbase. This review will not even touch how the game is at this point as with no players, you cannot adequately test a competitive multiplayer game.

This review will go briefly over what happened that I have to state the above:

Warriors Of Titus - F2P

This is how a moba is done in VR! This game manages to marry what makes vr fun with the complexity of what you would expect in any standard MOBA. I do feel like the character’s guns could use a few more differences between them as they are a bit similar but in terms of abilities and gameplay the characters are all quite diverse.

Overall i would highly recommend you try out this game. If you arent a fan of mobas you might still find fun in this game if you enjoy shooting or a good feeling of progression.

needs polish but the visuals are overlookable as the gameplay is solid. one glaring flaw though - nobody friggin plays it and bots are boring.

Battleborn

Battleborn

Okay, let’s start with a simple statement about Battleborn: Battleborn is a game rife with marketing issues and inconvenient circumstances that, at its core, is a very fun and entertaining game that has only increased my respect for Gearbox.

Battleborn is a hero shooter/MOBA, which differs from multiple similar games like Overwatch and Paladins because it has universal mechanics for characters that are used to fight, and unique mechanics designated to maybe one or two characters in the roster. You pick one character at the beginning of a match or mission, and then you are stuck playing them for the rest of the match. This leaves a lot more competitive potential to the game than its charisma and PvE system will let on, but we’ll touch on that later.

Mishandled, overlooked and abandoned.

Weird or sometimes even broken mechanics, items and character skills (and their helix powers).

Misdirected by Gearbox trying to make a competitive game while a better choice was to focus on casual market instead.

Before this game entered ‘free trial’ you had to buy it and grind for hours in order to unlock new characters and important gear while OW straight up gave you all available characters right at the start.

Optimizations for some maps/areas were crap.

Updated Review as of 7/7/20

v2.3.5

There’s really only 3 VR Moba style games currently battling.

Cradle of Sins/Megalith/Dead Shot Heroes.

CoS came out of the gates swinging and promising the world and in the last 6 months haven’t heard a peep or an update and their game is still really early access. Megalith had the big guns behind them being made from developers with AAA experience… launched their game, patched it a couple of times and continue to ignore the community. DSH has done nothing but get better.

An amazing VR MOBA. Very well put together and addictive game play. It offers the perfect balance of strategic game play without being overwhelming. The online player base is very welcoming, but even playing solo against bots is very satisfying. Be sure to check out the discord channel where the dev is extremely active and responds to player input. You’ll also get a sense of when people are generally online and looking for match. There is a tiny bit of a learning curve when you first start, but it’s not significant and is definitely worth it. The heroes play very differently, so try a few if you’re not initially convinced. If you’ve tried MOBAs before but got turned off by the toxic community, then you should definitely try this as the players are great!

Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn

Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn

MOBA games on VR.

“Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn”is a VR-like MOBA game, and it is a multiplayer online competitive game that supports 5v5 games at most. The game is open to all players equally.

VR competitive games without vertigo.

“Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn” uses a recharge-jump movement to compete on the battlefield.

-The way of jumping basically does not produce the dizziness of VR.

-In the way of pre-charging, the opponent’s “mobile information” will not be lost, and it will not be impossible to predict the opponent’s behavior like “teleportation”.

-A small area of 1:1 free-space movement allows players to focus more on battlefield tactics or combat skills themselves.

Cooperation and victory.

The main mode of“Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn” is the “five Battlefield” mode, which attaches great importance to team cooperation.

-On the battlefield, there are “ordinary nodes” that can continuously generate fewer points and “deterioration nodes” that can generate a large number of points at once.

-The way to win on the battlefield is to get 2500 points first.

-Nodes are distributed all over the battlefield.

-The deteriorating node generates 500 points at a time but needs to occupy and defend for 45 seconds, refreshing every 4 minutes.

-The game supports real-time voice on the battlefield within the same team.

Upgrade and customization.

The current version of “Sentry:Obelisk Of Dawn” has.

-Upper limit of level 30, up to 30 talent points.

-38 sets of armed chips (battlefield skills in 5v5 battlefield).

-4 talent systems that can activate 12 talent pools.

-Among the armed chips, there are 15 sets of chips that can be specialized by talent.

-Each set of armed chips (skills) can be upgraded by completing various tasks, collecting fragments and resources.

-Each player can customize his or her own feature character.

Single player game or online matching.

You can quickly match an online PVP conflict, or prove your skills in qualifying.

You can also create a man-machine room alone or with friends to experiment with skills and tactics or hone your combat skills.

{Updated Review: September 19th, 2015}

The new balance patch that was just released has made some major improvments to the game overall.

Game Mechanic Tweaks:

Experience is now rewarded on a damage based system. You received experience proportional to how much damage you are doing, in addition to scoring kills. This is probably the largest overall improvment to the game. It allows newer players to keep up with the veterans instead of just getting snowballed in a long painful loss.

Command Structure armor now only blocks 90% of damage done. This means that you can effectively kill the command structure as long as you keep attacking it. The motivation behind this tweak was to prevent long drawn out games where one team never leaves base.

I read all the reviews through November 3 before purchasing this game. I like to know whether I’m getting ripped off or not as it’s happened more than once lately. Steam has been letting piles of crap be sold on their service the last several months.

It seems most of the negative reviews stem from people who already played NS2: Combat as a mod. I have the pleasure of not ever even hearing about this game until I saw it on the steam store. A lot of the negative reviewers seem to complain about miniscule changes to gameplay compared to the mod as well as the extremely low population right now. These are my thoughts ten hours in (yes I know not nearly as many as people would like, but I intend to continue to play this.

Nanobotic

Nanobotic

Although the idea behind this game isn’t all that unique, the execution of it is. It features Quake-like movement and crafting elements.

! You are given a weapon for which you can craft updates throughout the match by gathering nanobots, an in-game currency which can be acquired by shooting at enemies or completing objectives. The developers are extremely interactive with the community. If you criticize them, they will take you seriously and do their utmost to fix the issues you are experiencing.

Nanobotic Is whole new game with Whole new Interesting Ideas. Imagiine games like Paladins or Overwatch: Both of these so called hero Shooters took ideas from MOBA and FPS. They took things like Classes and Item store from MOBA games and took Game modes from FPS. Nanobotic Does the Opposite. In Nanobotic you play on A Map similar to MOBA games like Smite or DOTA2 with minions while playing with Different Weapons and Weapon Combinations like in FPS. Nanobotic also Compare to IDK Paladins is Super High skill based and Some people will not understand how to be good at this game. If you want Quick kills in this Game early on, I would recommend you to buy Multishots as your First Option. There are also Elements in this Game, Each Element is different and Somewhat unique, but Remember not Every single Element can deal Damage, some of them are used to slow your Enemies or block their Primary Fire, So dont Run with Electric Shotgun trying to Kill somebody, it wont work. Thanks to Elements and Different Weaponry you can Create up to 120 different Combinations in this game, Creating 120 different playstiles for just one character and if you want or have enough time, you can try them in one match, all of them, but I think match has to be super long so you could do it. Thanks to 120 different combinations Everyone can play by their own Playstile. Minions in this Game Are really important allies or Enemies, because they are the ones with Passive Abilities that protects your team. I would recomend this game for Everyone who is looking for High Skill game.

Paladins®

I still have to give this a (weaker) Not Recommended. THE CARD SYSTEM DESCRIBED BELOW IS GONE, and the current system is better than ever, which is great. Gameplay currently lacks variety (all gamemodes boil down to 5v5 team deathmatch on similar maps), which made the gameplay get old quick for me, and unfortunately Hi-Rez is still doing some shady things (e.g., “forgetting” to mention in advance that they would change the price of voicepacks from being obtainable with the free currency, to exclusively bought with the premium currency). Daily quests are the main thing keeping me logging in.

I’ve made it past the 1200 hours mark and I think Im qualified enough to leave a decent review.

Paladins is a great game with a small and growing community. This game is not perfect, don’t expect it to be especially because it’s still in “BETA”. People Like to compare it to the big O, sure there are some similarities but this game is a completely different experience. It has more MOBA elements to it; loadouts, mounts and the credit system are what makes this game versatile and more complex. It has a great selection of “Champions” and i’m sure you’ll find someone that’ll match your playstyle.

Destroy each other’s main base and win. Or kill enough enemy NPCs or players to reduce the camp’s resource value to 0 to win.(CS + WOW AV)

The game has a single training mode, there are user-defined multiplayer combat mode. There is also a dedicated server mode. At present, it is a better choice to train alone or find your friends to play online. Several friends can play with each other.

If online, it is recommended to use friend game mode, but this does not support joining midway.

TLDR: This game will really fun for people who enjoy fighting games but you need to be the kind of person who can really understand and use a combat system in a game well.

Positive:

  • Great combo system, feels like Tekken to me.

  • Well balanced characters with different play styles.

  • Well rounded tutorial and training mode to practice.

  • Quick matchmaking and pacing, game loads quicky and you start playing very fast.

  • Cast of characters is really well rounded and interesting. Very unique.

  • Character unlocks are reasonably priced and only use in game currency (huge+)

+Limited pay to win aspect (Purely cosmetic, point boosts, and “Tonics” [See below])

+Unique characters with their own play-style

+No real “overpowered” characters

+Neat skill system where you have AP for your minor skills and SP which charges over time to use your characters “Special move”.

+Team based gameplay

+Easy to Learn; Hard to Master

Cons-

-Small character pool

-Can be seen as slowpaced

-Fighting style may not be for everyone

-Is a MOBA in the literal sense and may not be for players wanting to solo.
