Squad

Awesome game in itself, but sadly it is infested by powertripping wannabe squad leaders who will micromanage your every step and/or instantly kick you out of the squad whenever you are trying to play the game, they often even want to dictate what role or weapon or even what scope you can use, its really REALLY hard to find a good squad with a good squad leader who lets his teammates play the game.

The most amusing part of it all is that these squad leaders are usually the worst casual boomers who have no gamesense or aim whatsoever, if they make bad calls thats on you not on them :D

Squad provides an interesting balance of resource management and combat. Often in firefights you feel like you’re in the middle of a much larger battle; at the same time, very realistic damage models for vehicles, bullet penetration, etc. leave you often having to work around larger threats in your area. This has also led to some really cool impromtu mid-game missions, such as protecting a tracked Abram’s tank and then providing cover for it while we advanced down a street in Fallujah. There’s also a limited but active modding community adding cool content such as “hardcore” game modes, “star wars” battles, and night-vision fights, along with the ever-classic zombie game.

Read the Review First

In no way is this “mutant ops” unenjoyable so this is going to be a weird jump back and forth between the good and the bad. Let’s just start with the bad, and my own pretentious manner as I restrain myself from saying that this isn’t a game. I feel that it’s to elitist of a statement. Because this is technically a video game, but it’s only about an hour of that experience.

The Graphics

It’s quite jarring to see how much a difference in quality this game is, as if the company decided that instead of collaborating with their fellow laborers, they’d give everyone an individual task. The opening cut-scene is of such notably higher quality, that it makes the game just look odd, I’m sure that this game’s polygon nature makes it look odd to begin with; I see nothing wrong with the style. Perhaps I’ve fallen for the trap of this season’s art style as the video game industry falls in a rut similar too Cartoon Network’s “Cal Arts” debacle. All the shows looking kind of the same whether it’s because the teachers are teaching a single art or everybody’s being inspired by the same piece. Everything starts to blend together, it’s obviously intentional because it seems to be working. Where Adventure time may have been original and charming in it’s art, everything started to fall inline. If one were to take a look at the pilot episodes for Steven Universe and Regular show, you’d see a much different concept. But then came Uncle Grandpa, Wander over Yonder, that show about the Peanut and the Pickle, Sanjay and Craig, Star and the forces of Evil, Over the Garden Wall, Gravity Falls, Craig of the Creek, OK KO, and Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart: All ooze some similarity that has allowed it the seat that was once filled by the Geometric style artistry of the previous animation era. Yet here we are where Mutant Ops is taking into account the look and popularity of games like Valheim, Hydroneer, deep rock galactic, Inscryption, or any of the countless indie horror games that look for better or for worse the same. And I dig that shit up. I don’t know why it just looks so good too me, maybe it’s reminding of a better time. A time long before Covid where my evil withdrew, before Trump the fool who seeks to return to the past, before someone flung the the portal open to critical race theory and I understood true sadness. Evil me be like “I like video games.” The truth hurts sometimes but also sometimes the truth is nice and truthfully I probably bought this game just because of how it looks. I mean fuck people still play Minecraft and that shit got into Super Smash Brothers. Fuck you Sakurai I wanted better characters, because my opinion is good and right. I feel like after 2 DLC’s I only like 3 characters. While showing this game off to some friends, my friend Slime pointed out, (and no, this is not a paid advertisement from Crunchyroll) something quite interesting, it would seem, to the unresearched, that the games assets were made by different people, due to their difference in appearance and detail. That perhaps this underpaid group of programmers did not communicate properly before providing a segmented quality of a game to their corporate overlord. However, with a little research and understanding, one would find that it’s harder to find any sort of free asset on the Unreal Engine vs others, and that only 1 animator is attributed to the project, along with the fact that most of the crew are fresh out of high-school. Which admittedly gives this game a charming bias. Yet still, it’s hard to imagine that one person designed all these assets, as they are vastly different in quality. The streets, buildings, enemies, guns, humans, cut-scene, cars, and other vehicles all have a different level of quality, perhaps our designer has been working on this project all the while working on their own skills. As if one is no longer the same version of ones self from any given day to another. Seeing as this game is still probably being worked on, when it’s finished I’ll probably go back and play it, and maybe even change the review to a recommended to help all the idiots who don’t read the reviews first, but I’m not going back and rewriting this shit, I mean, look at all the stuff I’ve already put into it.

This game has a lot of potencial. As a constantly improving game, I am adding some ideas, and I hope they get included in the game.

  • Balance changes: Late game, some weapons are OP, and some are garbage. For example, P2000 ans Little Devil, they both cost the same, but one is useless after wave 40. Try to balance the weapons, so each one has a meaning to exist.

  • Make the game harder (or add easy, medium and hard modes), running in this game is game changer. There is no monster faster than you, so the game starts to get boring after wave 40. Some ideas are, add a boss round every 5-10 round, decrease the running speed or increase the monster speed and health. Also, you could make opening spaces cost money, so there is more trouble early game.

First of all, I have to mention that the game looks really nice. The map and character designs are good, but they need to improve their weapon designs a bit. Since it is an early access game yet I think it can improve better than many games. Let me talk about the good aspects of gameplay:

- Level System (from 1 to 78): I think it is really important to have a level system in online games. Because the player will try to move himself to a higher level and will play more.

For the first time, I am happy that we have seen a quality game from a Turkish company. To explain the game briefly and briefly, the game can be called a mini battlefield. Although the game is really fun, it would be better if the tanks and helicopters with many players have a slightly higher health. I wish success to the game and the developers.

I don’t know why this is being compared to mechwarrior 2, but this isn’t even in the same league as a MW game. it doesn’t even feel like a mech game and controlls like a normal fps. This would be tolerable if it weren’t for the plethora of bugs and the nonsensical story that came with it. My favorite bug being the one that will often spawn you in a place that gets the player stuck on the map if they forget to pick a start point. Balancing is also a mess since there are only 3 mechs and energy weapons mostly usless outside of the emp.

Do you like Mechwarrior 2? The developer of this does too and it shows! It feels great, plays great and I just love it! Super easy mod support as well! I have modded in the MW2 soundtrack and now it feels even better! 3

It is one of those games I just got an instant crush on, exactly why that is is hard to explain but I will try to give some pros and cons on why.

Pros:

  • A very present Mechwarrior 2/Mech sim retro feel, but with modern fps controls (similar to Mechwarrior Online)

  • Lots of options for loadouts for the mechs with 3 Chassis available, lots of weapons and weapon group settings.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down

a fun old game with flaws. it has a lot of crazy features like animal attacks. on levels where you’re in africa for instance there are alligators/crocodiles that swim around in the water and lay on the banks of rivers. if you come too near them or aggravate them they might attack you, even while youre already fighting other humans. i dont think you can drive any vehicles in this game, but you can use the gunner’s position on humvees, blackhawks and rhibs. the levels are all pretty linear but you usually have a decent amount of room to maneuver. this game is somewhat realistic in that on the higher difficulties you die in one or two shots and most enemies die with the same number. there are also civilians in this game. some cry and hide, some throw rocks at you, some yell insults. theyre pretty hard to distinguish from the enemies. usually the only way you can tell a civilian from an enemy is by what theyre carrying. one cool thing about the delta force games is that the helicopters are done similar to certain counter-strike maps in that you can walk around inside the helicopter while its flying and you arent strapped into a seat like in a battlefield game. the delta force games also have the coolest scope system ive ever seen in any game.

You’re probably familiar with the budget tactical shooter series called Delta Force. Black Hawk Down is the 6th installment of the series and inherits all the good things about the previous titles and executes them pretty well. Unlike the previous titles all your campaign missions take place in one country: Somalia.

The Visuals.

BHD has it’s own engine and runs at DirectX8, 4:3 aspect ratio resolution. I managed to get it up to 1200p, it refused to go above. All widescreen solutions stretch / cut off the screen. Considering that it’s budget titles made in 2003 the visuals are fine. Decent textures, fine poly count and nice drawing distance (like in every other DF title). Framerate is unlimited. Game is compatible with pretty much all Windows versions.

Delta Force: Task Force Dagger

Delta Force: Task Force Dagger

I have had this game for several years now, and have never stopped loving it. I was not able to play it for a while because of that craptastic mistake known as windows 8/8.1. There would be these stupid grey lines and the crosshairs on the scope would flicker in and out, but as soon as I got my free windows 10 upgrade I’ve never been happier. Anyways more about the game. If you want a good old fashion classic of a shooter Delta Force: Task Force Dagger is for you. I would recommend ANY of the Delta Force games to even my worst enemy. Task Force Dagger is perfectly done. Sure sure the graphics are out dated and it doesn’t look like your Call of Retard Advanced Warfag, but have respect for this game. This game is pure gold, and honestly I don’t think a game like this can ever be done again, by anyone except Novalogic. More about the game. You can play as one of several SpecOps teams from around the world. Force Recon, SAS, Ranger, Pararescue, C.I.A Special Activities Division.. the flippin aussies. You are Vipper 33 and you are apart of Task Force Dagger, you mission is to shoot the duck out of abeebs (terrorist, I call them abeebs) You go behind enemy lines, destroy communications, snag documents, destroy heavy weapons, all while in (for it’s day) stunning maps. The maps are HUGE. You can venture off anywhere and discover new areas. Honestly once I was in the first mission I went to the terrorist command base and up on a mountain there was a whole nother facility that wasn’t even part of the mission, went there… terrorist don’t know how to dodge. I’ve gone roaming through out the world and have found random patrols of terrorist. I’ve discovered lakes. It’s basicly kinda like Arma on the free roam Combat Mode, except all the time. It’s true there aren’t a ton of missions, but honestly, once you buy this game, and you play it that first time… you wont care. This game is worth constant replays. Even now when I’m busy playing BF4, DOOM BFG, all of these others, I still can’t help going back to this gold mine of a game.

This is more directed to those who loved playing this game back in the day all the way until Nova Logic Shut down the servers after XP service by MS had ended making the way for WIN7…

Well, guess what? Servers are back up again. So I hope you remembered your passwords to get back on Nova Logic. There are some draw backs, we will talk about the game in general. Yeah it works in WIN10, even more so in WIN7. But like all older games working in these OS’s. You may need to pull that task manager up. Because sometimes when you start it, it does nothing, and you have to force close it, to re-start it up again so the game can launch. Except were a game like Silent Hunter 3 you can do this once. Seems for this game it gets to be a common thing. Start, by pass with task manager, re-start, game launches, close game, may need to repeat this. Now they did not improve on the graphics. Since the game runs 640x480 at the game menu, then launches to what ever you set it(max is 1020x768), you may need to turn down the desktop to help it out to do the resolutions switch. I set mine to 1600x900 and it is working like this.

It’s a reload of the original but it does come with a few downers. Getting extra health and ammo is easy just look for the red and blue boxes on your gps or map. There are extra missions and this one is challenging but not too challenging or you might have to work to hard to play the game lol! It does need save points and a few more health power ups since bad guys come from out of nowhere and wax you. You can’t assume you’ve cleared a part of the map or territory or you’ll get waxed. For anyone into FPS I very highly recommend this one!!!! Besides needing save points it could also use a few more weapons. There is a mp5sd3 but no mission truly allows it.

Not played DFX for years, just bought it for nostalgia only, myself I enjoy some mindless shooting for 1\2 to an hour of fun. Lets face it Novalogic had its day with DF, DF2, DFLW ect great games in there day then with a new engine brought out BHD (Blackhawk Down) full servers great cumminity ect, then it was followed with Joint ops + esc drivable vehicles and helicopters even 100 people servers now that was great, then things turned for Novalogic downwards a game called Angel Falls never seen the light of day.Now less of the past both DFX games are sad cash ins, now thats my opinion for failing company.

Doom, Dune 2000, Age of Empires 2, Half-Life და ა.შ.

Delta Force, the game which revolutionised the FPS shooters and started the entire military shooter genre.

Delta Force is an old military simulator from 1998, developed by Novalogic, a company which was developing simulators for US Military. The game has clearly aged quite well graphically, but the AI is quite good and the capabilities of the engine are stunning even for modern standards. The engine supported huge, infinite maps thanks to voxels. They may look a bit blocky for modern gamers, but it still looks good.

So, Full disclosure, I only ever play Coop, so I don’t evaluate PVP based on my review.

This is one of the best FPS games I have ever played. The pace is fast, but you have to think. You can’t rely on just being fast and accurate. The bots aren’t the brightest, but they are some of the better one’s I have seen. They will ambush you, they will flank you, and they will wait until they have enough to push you hard and try to overwhelm you.

You CAN do your own thing on the battlefield and some people are far too worried about their K/D. The best, however is when you get into a really good team. What happens when everyone knows what to do and does it, is amazing.

Heart pounding. Terror in your soldier’s voice as bullets crack by. A mortars explosion deafens you with a temporary ringing. A smoke grenade covers the street, so you sprint across as you pray. You make it inside the objective just in time to see a grenade roll into the room… your teammate goes prone in it, as an act of sacrifice. The shrapnel is contained, and he lays dead in a pool of blood and a severed arm. You frantically shoot through the nearby wall and hear a scream, then a body falls clutching his wounds. You put another round in his head; he is still.

Based on the real Battle of Roberts Ridge (Takhur Ghar) where SEAL PO1 Neil Roberts and Air Force Combat Controller TSgt John Chapman both lost their lives fighting alone. The game, despite it’s horribly cheesy and sometimes downright bad moments, portrays a solid image of what it might have been like to have been in the Shahi-Kot valley during the early days of the War in Afghanistan. The game has the player playing as members from two different AFO teams from the SEALs and Army Delta Force and as a Ranger from the 75th Ranger Regiment, all of which were present at some point and in some capacity in the real battle.

Unlike Call of Duty - Black Ops II, this actually gets Afghanistan right. The setting looks like the mountains I flew over and the valley I rucked in. It looks like Afghanistan, it sounds like Afghanistan, and despite the game-isms, does a good job of telling the story. Little things stand out to me - the visible selector switch from semi to full, the relatively realistic weapons models, the radio chatter and dialogue - as authentic. There are some reality breakers, like a general in a suit during cutscenes or the wrong time period highspeed gofast gear on dudes in a game set in 2001, but I can put them aside and enjoy the atmosphere.
