Devil Daggers
This game is pretty much my favourite game ever (regardless of whether I’ll be playing it 2 years from now).
TL;DR
- Just try it. There’s more to it than you probably think… and it’s only like 4 quid.
Devil Daggers (DD) seems like a pretty simple arcade shooter on the surface, and that’s what it’ll be to you for your first few hours of playing this thing. But if you stick with it long enough, you’ll start to see a little depth to it, especially if you pay attention to the replays of higher players on the leaderboard.

Devil Daggers is hellish, and that’s the highest regard I can give it.
Cliche ridden elevator pitch: Stay alive for as long as you possibly can while fighting off baddies from beyond in a dim, dark, purgatorial arena, with nothing but your rapid-fire daggers and wits. Harkening back to late 90’s games such as Quake, the movement system is extremely satisfying. Of course, you have standard movement with WASD and your mouselook, but once you get the general hang of the game, you can introduce bunny-hopping and dagger jumping into your repetoire. These systems reward you with speed and manueverability that can turn average, ‘nothing special’ runs into challenges to the world’s top players. While not as snappy as one might like, its movement system just feels right at home here, and is immensely satisfying.

Cathedral 3-D
“I like the aesthetics and bold discount tactics” - My friend Berry
I’ve got to say that this game is really great. I don’t know if there is anything else like it or if it’s emulating a style but that does not matter. Cathedral 3D’s movement, speed, style, and mechanics combine for an awesome time.
The game has a simple tutorial, some would argue to simple. Just get in there and play, figure out routes, learn what attacks work best, and stack combo orbs which give you invincibility, shield, or invincibility for your chest. To reload your health and ammo, you must be holding the chest as you run over the grails. Additionally, your point modifier depletes if you stray to far from the chest.

I’d say this game is well worth your time if youre a fan of arena shooters with a unique spin. Fans of Devil Daggers and the like will feel at home with this fast paced First Person Demon-er.
While the game doesn’t do much in terms of hand holding, there’s a bit to take in mechanic wise at first. But after a few play-throughs and learning the ins and outs on your own its an easy beast to tame. Flying around as a demon in this massive gorgeous cathedral feels so satisfying and blasting away and taking out your foes its a lot of fun.

Conc Jump
The joys of source engine movement mechanics now in unity! This game shows the best parts of the iconic Team Fortress Classic. It includes conc, quad rocket jumping, bhop, and even steals some of the sounds! The real selling points of this game though have to be the wacky moving shadow of the player model and the powerful explosion particle effect from the rocket.
Really the only thing holding this game back is the devastating bug of achievements not unlocking. After a taxing 3 hours to beat all the levels none of the achievements unlocked. Additionally, quite a few levels have cheats, but I like to think of them as speedrun strats.

Conc jump is a wonderful skill based source mechanic video game. I played this game with legendary source mechanic players such as Zike1017, and Newjuls, and we all came to the conclusion that this game is the paramount source movement mechanic trainer.
Despite the stolen tfc assets, and the numerous ways to cheat levels, this game truly delivers. I mean come on, look at that explosion animation! dont forget the fortnite shadow that tracks in real time! never before will you have fun locking your fps to 90 while bhopping, concing, and quad rocket jumping! The game even uses the time old SuperChuck™ strat of using different levels over again for different mechanics! very innovative! Make sure to not rocket jump too high though, or you may just fall out of the map and have your game crash…

Shillelagh
Got this game because I love devil daggers. The soundtrack is awesome and the gameplay has a really unique twist.

Overall, I feel the potential and the charm of this game are buried too deeply beneath absolutely horrible visual clarity and the frustration of, for a lack of better words, total bullshit deaths completely outside of player control.
Shillelagh is held back by issues that are few in number but quite significant in effect. My biggest frustration currently is that it seems everything in the game has collision and can push you around. The trees popping up, the spirits you launch at enemies, the little floating stone fragments that appear when enemies burst through the rock, and probably more. On the handful of runs I’ve tried, an enemy has killed me only once. Every other run I’ve had end did so due to a tree bursting up beneath me unexpectedly and shoving me off the arena with no chance for me to react, or a single, tiny out of place floating stone bumping me into a pit. I don’t feel like I died because I made a mistake - I died because of something stupid I have absolutely no ability to influence and no possible method of reacting to. It feels like shit and it’s rapidly killing my ability to enjoy the game even this early on.

Synthwave Hop
Great game, the movement is super fluid and satisfying. Can be played to relax or as a competitive outlet. This game is awesome as is - and seems perfectly set up for future expansion if the dev is interested in doing so with more levels or a level editor. (also maybe a timer by the speed to know if you’re on pace)

This game sparked a gaming curiosity and competitiveness in me that I haven’t had in a long time. This game felt both satisfying and fluid, while also managing to be extremely challenging. While the game only has 20 levels and gameplay is really simple, it managed to keep me entertained and on the edge of my seat for around 10 hours with a sense of accomplishment that no other game in my recent memory has given me.
I will definitely be looking more into the FPS Precision Platformer genre as I believe this game has given me a new favorite after Roguelike/Roguelite.

Dark Forest
This is a fun game to chill and play. I like the mechanics and floating feeling of the controls. This is a VERY simple game, but it is well done.

A more approachable ‘Devil Daggers’ by a small dev team. You can tell care went into the making of this game.

Well, finally completed the game so i assume that makes me creditable for a review.
This game is amazing. Absolutely Amazing. When you first play it, you have no idea where to go and the bright colors distort your eyes. As you play, you get more used to the game and layout, speeding through levels that you struggled with at the beginning. Going through the levels themselves is a huge adrenaline rush due to how fun and fast paced this game is. Would most definitely recommend it to any other adrenaline junkies like me. 10/10 Indie GOTY for me.

So the game was, quite clearly, updated with a new underground map. An update could be a nice thing, but in this case the underground map is an enclosed labyrinth with no way out. I’ve tried heading down every possible path to its end and there’s nothing but dead ends and a few bundles of zombies littered throughout it. It kind of… well, it sucks. The game is monotonous and pointless and, with the update, there is absolutely no way to get to the portion of the game where you’re shooting zombies. I was looking for meaningless fun when I bought this game, all I found was the meaningless part. I am sad. I wanted to shoot zombies with the weapons the game’s description promises are in the game; but that part of the game is inaccessible and the game ends up a walking and dodging simulator with zombies senselessly appearing as part of the scenery.
