WhackAKyouka

WhackAKyouka

This is a simple game made by imitating the playing method of “Whac-a-mole”.

The main content of the game is that you need to click the beautiful head with the left mouse button. When you get enough points (or meet the conditions), you will enter the next level.

If there were neutral ratings, I would give this game one.

  • technical well made (by just two people)

  • atmospheric

  • fitting, beautiful illustrations and soundtrack

  • finding some items can be challenging

  • really short

  • totally overpriced for the length

  • very predictable story (with lots of medical and psychological bullshit for the sake of a tense atmosphere)

  • puzzles = mostly searching for items

  • gamebreaking bugs (had to restart once and replay a large part another time)

And dear achievement hunters: Your achievements won’t count for your overall stats (which is Steams, not the developers’s fault)

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure

I enjoyed playing this short point and click game. The hand drawn scenes have a great sense of place and the snow gives shivery cold feeling so I really felt sorry for the main character locked out of his apartment. The music was a good match for the game. The dialogue was very funny and endearing.

I had a small technical problem with my computer before I could play this game but the devs were really helpful and responsive so that the game works as it should now.

I hope the developers add some more episodes as I would definitely play them.

Alexey’s Winter: Night adventure is a very short point & click adventure set in the 1989’s USSR. The game was initially launched in 2017 on the mobile platform and gained positive feedback from the players. At a later date, it received a second episode (and as of Sep 26 2021 a third one) and underwent several design changes. This version was now ported to Steam as a paid item, while the mobile one remains free but was reverted back to one episode only.

The story follows Alexey’s troubles during one cold winter night, trying to get back his lost apartment keys. After a series of intricate puzzles he manages to regain access to his home, only to find out that in the meantime his TV was stolen. This sets the plot for the second and third episodes, which are slightly longer than the first one.

She and the Light Bearer

She and the Light Bearer

I absolutely love the art in this game and the story was cute. If you enjoy casual point and click games this will make you smile.

The game was pretty easy to get through without much challenge as the points of interest light up on screen. Making it pretty hard to miss things. There is at least one missable achievements due to needing to click on something before reaching a specific point in Chapter 2. But if you want a quick 100% Hanni has written a guide to zip you through.

The toughest achievement for me turned out to be during the credits to collect the orbs since one section requires timing correctly and if you failed you need to restart and re-watch the end of the last chapter just to try again. It was pretty annoying to me after a handful of tries from either missing the timing, or my mouse click not actually clicking. Just for info, Left mouse click to jump at the orbs and holding left mouse increases height.

[Review : She and the Light Bearer]

** SPOILER ALERT, kinda **

A heartwarming fairytale

8.5/10

Finally.

It’s been 3 years since my first encounter with She project and i always wait for this miracle to happen. And god do i love this game.

This might be the longest review i’ve ever written

Thanks to Mojiken Studio and Miss Brigitta Rena for creating such amazing fairytale

And thanks to Toge Productions for the publishing this awesome project.

A bit of a history.

So about 3 years ago in mid 2016 is when i first acknowledge about Itch.io. In one of recommendation section i saw one of Mojiken Studio’s game, A Space for The Unbound (if i recall yes, that’s the game i saw) and played it. I start browsing their library and one of their project caught my eyes, She Who Once Was Lost.

A Space For The Unbound - Prologue

A Space For The Unbound - Prologue

This is just a Demo for an upcoming full game but I had to recommend it!

It’s a relaxing cozy heartwarming adventure game with lovely pixelated visuals!

The whole game and most of all the background of each scene reminds me of the Sega Genesis era and gave me a nostalgic feeling!

I felt like I could play this game forever! but sadly the demo finished so soon even though I almost walked the whole game and didn’t use the running key so I can enjoy the active and lovely background of each scene to the fullest!

A Space for the Unbound oozes personality and charm in spades. On the one hand, the pixel art is undeniably gorgeous; I’m reminded of a specific pixel artist, 1041uuu, who showed slice-of-life moments in Japan; the difference here being, of course, the setting in rural Indonesia. There’s a lot of fleshed out art with plenty of dimension while still being simple and aesthetically pleasing. On the other hand, the time and place absolutely shines through; having been there myself, I felt transported back to Indonesia — the lush scenery, the unique homes, and the animals lazing about took me right back to Bali and all its beauty (and, yes, you can most definitely pet the cats).
